-Anything to do with Liverpool

-Inconsistent officiating

-Overweight & old officials (Why don't retired players want to officiate?)

-The phrase "Decisions even themselves out over the course of the season" No they don't

-The fallacy that British players don't dive

-Lack of common sense in the game (FA & Officials)

& Finally the illusion that the media have created that Gerrard was better than Lampard, never was & Never will be

'Give him time' or 'He's young, He will come good', No, You get paid the big bucks, Perform to your highest level right here right now. 'He puts a shift in though', Again if all you have to offer a side is that you give effort and work hard, I'm sorry you are not good enough, Giving effort and working hard should be a given, What else do you have to offer? If it's not much else, Get rid.

Well personally I was appreciating his footballing brilliance.

I can see you peeking up his shorts.

Seeing our players dangerously pass it across the back and to Teebo who lumps it out for us to lose possession (especially against teams like City where we have less of the ball), when the defender could've lumped it out in the first place.

Arsenalfantv, but especially Moh.

Moh's a d**khead, but ArsenalFanTV is a bundle of laughs when they lose.

Oh and when I hear commentators say Conte when Kante is on the ball. It's Can-Tay, not Con-Tay

In France, it's pronounced 'Con-Tay' also.

4 commentators on bt sport.

Fans who urge their players to play on when another player is injured, then demand the opposition put the ball out of play if they lose possession.

Fans who repeatedly display w**king gestures at players. You look like a complete idiot. Grow up.

The sheer number of Liverpool pundits.

Whenever Charlie Nicholas says "just sitting there, thinking..."

I'll answer assuming that by pet peeve you mean unimportant things that annoy me rather than things that piss me off and/or make me concerned.

  • Using the word average to refer to below average players/teams. Average is a neutral word; it refers to the middle. Among football fans it seemingly has a negative connotation.
  • When a player knocks up a WAG, scores a goal, and stuffs a ball under their shirt to let the world know that they had unprotected sex.

CAHN-tay is the correct pronunciation. That's the way N'Golo says it in French interviews. Conte is COHN-tay in Italian.

Speaking of that, blatantly incorrect player pronunciations grate on me. I'm not referring to the perfect accent using sounds that don't exist in English. I'm referring to not using the closest English equivalent, putting the emphasis on the wrong syllable, etc.

It's not HA-zard, it's ah-ZAHR. It's not CAH-stuh, it's COES-stah. It's not PEH-droe, it's PAY-droe. For a non Chelsea example, it's not uh-GWEH-roe, it's ah-GWAY-roe. It's not fuh-LAY-nee, it's feh-ligh-NEE, though perhaps that's intentional because the correct pronunciation sounds too much like felony

I have an ethnic name that often gets mispronounced. In fairness, my parents take the majority of the blame for spelling it in a confusing way when translating it from the original writing system. I've stopped correcting people because it's futile and even start pronouncing it like them to avoid confusion, and I imagine these footballers feel the same.

It's not the fans at fault, it's the media, as the fans simply say it the way they hear the media say it.

I was watching a Sky Sports video yesterday. Discussing the Costa situation, and Paul Merson actually pronounced Willian as Will-I-An... Like he is in the Black Eyed Peas.

I enjoy his rants but the guy can barely string a f**king sentence together, let alone pronounce a footballers name.

I've noticed that before too but it makes me laugh, I like Merse.
