When presenting the awards Garth Crooks made this big speech about how fantastic this Tottenham team are and with patience they will win a lot of trophies. Most cringe-worthy thing i've watched in a while. No - thankfully I missed that - really can't stand Crooks.
April 24, 20179 yr Kante deserves it, he was instrumental last season for Leicester, he's been instrumental this season for us. United fans think Herrera is better, because he's turned up for the last few months of the season, though Kante has been the better performer for longer. I've read so much rubbish today, like Kante winning makes the Premier League look weak, why? Because we appreciate hard working players? If you think Hazard should have won, fair enough, though this club seems to have attracted a lot of Hazard F.C fans, I suppose with the amount of people that are Messi/Ronaldo fanboys, that was always likely to happen, if he leaves they'll be off. Kante has worked hard and he deserves it, I guess he's just not flashy enough for some people.
April 24, 20179 yr I thought Hazard deserved to win it since for me he's been our best an most consistent player, playing in a role in the team that is much harder to maintain consistency in. He's been at it since August. Anyway, congratulations to Kante. You can't help but think last season's accomplishments with Leicester influence the way people think about these awards.

Other day official united twitter tweeted how Pogba overtook Henderson to become the PL player with the most passes. Despite Henderson being out injured for over a month now. Their spell in the mid table was definitely not long enough to give them a reality check.
April 24, 20179 yr It always makes me laugh when people question who wins PFA or says "That person should never have won" End of the day it is an award for professionals, voted by professionals. The majority of professional footballers in the premier league obviously agreed that Kante was the right choice, but you get mugs on twitter like "@Martialogy" moaning because his boy Zlatan didnt win.
April 24, 20179 yr He is incredible, fully deserved to win the award. Football is not about who scores the most goals. It will be interesting how Kante plays next season when we are in the CL again- will he maintain those astonishing energy levels? Perhaps Conte will need to 'manage' him more. Also, another thing about Kante- he just gets on with things. He never complains to the ref, attempts to be dirty or anything- just keeps his head down and plays a blistering 90 mins of football with minimal fuss. What a player!
April 24, 20179 yr Hazard should have obviously got the award, but that game at Anfield where Kante made 14 tackles was basically the day he won it, the English media went into overdrive to show their love for Kante after that game, he has had a good season so I'm happy for him.
April 24, 20179 yr Absolutely deserved based purely on his consistency and fitness levels, an ultimate professional on & off the pitch however having said that don't see the logic of announcing player of the year with 6+ games remaining of the league. Surely these awards should be given once the most important phase of the league is over.

April 24, 20179 yr I think we need a song for Kante, especially now he's been named Players' Player of the Year. Penned down this - what do you all think???? In the tune of Spongebob Square Pants......... Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...... He covers the pitch like a man possessed.........'N'golo Kante' He controls our midfield because he is the best.......'N'golo Kante',.......... 'N'golo Kante', 'N'golo Kante', N'golooooooo Kanteeeeeeeee..... Actually sounds quite good when several sing it. Hopefully hear it on Tuesday night. Carefree

No there was no obvious as that's just disrespectful to how good Kante has been this season...not just one game. There was no clear winner and it was neck and neck but Kante deserves this 100% as would Hazard has he won it. Both have been great and both deserved it

Both have been great and both deserved it I'm not saying he won it because of one game, but that one game at Anfield was very significant as it's when the media went into overdrive, before that game at Anfield I think most Chelsea fans would have had Hazard, Costa, Azpi and Luiz ahead of Kante as our best performers of the season at that point, but Kantes performance that day made a huge impact, and then he went and had some other good games after that, he basically hit top form at the right time, not saying he was bad before that but he went up another level at the perfect time to get the POTY award.

That doesn't mean much, most professionals don't care about voting and most obviously don't watch that much football, so they can easily be influenced by what they see and hear in the media, probably all PL teams have skysports news on during the day, and at the time of voting they were hyping Kante up virtually every day on Sky.

April 24, 20179 yr Congrats to this guy. One of the best signings in recent years. By Chelsea or in the entire Premier League

April 24, 20179 yr Superb article about Kanté's journey to the top: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2704137-finding-ngolo-kante-the-men-who-discovered-the-pfa-player-of-the-year Very interesting to think that there is probably a universe out there in which he and Idrissa Gueye are playing together under Bielsa... the mind boggles.

I disagree, the difference is that they would have played against Kante this season and know first hand how difficult it is to face him. Hence why footballers who win players player of the year cherish it more than winnining fans player of the year.

April 25, 20179 yr Rumor around the bridge is that eden was set to win the award. Dead on. But then kante intercepted it..... ill see my way out Edited April 25, 20179 yr by TheChelsRVA

Not really this is probably the least credibale award as players are not interested in voting and the vote is made way before the end of the season, the English media played a big role in Kante getting the POTY award, this shouldn't even be up for debate.
