Jamie Vardy

Featured Replies

I can picture some collective raised eyebrows when first seeing this which means i need a great pitch so here goes.  For a year or two in my opinion would be a great deal at the right price, alongside either Costa or a the new striker (despite Friday i'd be amazed if Bats stays).

He can be used in many ways tactically, we can revert to two up front from the start, throw him on in a 2 up top if chasing, he would also be good enough to play if/when Costa  (if he stays) has his annual month nothings going right.  Most importantly off all however he could actually be used as a great defensive substituton when we are holding on to a 1 goal lead. He would be a fantastic outball to ease pressure and think of the mindset of the opponent's chasing the match, would you commit so many men forward knowing one accurate punt or through ball to a fresh Jamie Vardy and its goodnight? Imagine a fresh Cesc on in the same instance to play said through balls?

Also we could do with boosting the HG core and Vardy won't block Tammy's long term progress. Also Vardy unlike most English players has a true winners mentality and he has delievered the goods against top sides home and abroad. I know he loves Leicester and Arsenal tried and failed to woo him away, but with Conte and a serious chance of PL and CL medal's in coming season's i think we could convince him.

It's a no from me, I think his legs will start to go (maybe as soon as next season) and I don't think he has what it takes to adapt his game. For me signing Vardy would be a short term fix as opposed to a long term investment (in say, Jann-Fiete Arp for example). We need present/future CL winners in the squad, not yesterday's chump.

He doesn't love Leicester, he loves the £100,000 a week they offered him.

He had the, for all he knew, once in a lifetime chance to move and test himself at the elite level and he didn't back himself. He chose the easy, comfortable option.

No thanks.

As long as he's got his pace, he'd be a very useful squad option particularly if Costa leaves. Vardy's biggest asset is his ability to race across the box from a marked position. His goal against us at Leicester and goal away against Man Utd are good examples of what he offers. It makes him a deadly threat if you have good players in wide positions.

The problem is that when even a cyborg like Ronaldo looks to have lost a step of pace at 32, you wonder how much is in the tank for someone like Vardy.

The other thing to consider is whether he would actually offer anything different to someone like Pedro.

Absolutely not.

But he has really good YouTube videos so that must mean he's world class. Aren't YouTube videos an absolute indication of a player's quality?

In your head maybe.

Listen, Naby Keita is not Chelsea quality. You can stop crying all over the forum now.

What a load of nonsense that sentence is, you have literally no idea if he is "Chelsea quality" or not. It was said about Moses, it was said about Alonso, it was said about Costa for f**ks sake.

Watch many Leipzig games in real life, do you?

I do, I really like their story since being founded a few years ago, Keita is very good for them, but in my mind, he's not an upgrade on matic or cesc, he's like an in-between sort of player, doesn't do either of their jobs as well as they do, I think he'd be a great signing for most teams, but really i don't think he suits what we need, compared to say a Nainggolan type. The player i'd be looking at from Leipzig is Timo Werner, he'd fit our counter-attacking style very nicely and he's only a young pup

I don't know how many times I have to repeat it but here's another:

If you @dkw still don't get it then I'm afraid there's no other way I can explain it. He's not an upgrade on ANYTHING we currently have. Would you go out in the market and buy exactly another Alonso (or even a slightly worse Alonso) or buy someone that's better than him? How hard is it to understand this, really? Christ.

Oh and the only person that ever thought Moses wasn't Chelsea quality was Jose. Every single Chelsea fan saw him working his arse off in pre-season and he did play decently for us in 12-13. Not sure who ever said Costa wasn't Chelsea quality. Have you made that up? The player who scored 37 goals for Atletico prior to joining us while we were battling with Torres and Demba Ba was said by someone to not be Chelsea quality? Arrant nonsense you've just pulled out of nowhere. I'll give you Alonso, because even I had my doubts about him. Thankfully, this Keita lad is only in your dreams. He ain't coming here and that's that. Move on.

Wait, your actually using a constructive post with insight from a forummer who has seen him play often to defend your own opinion? Ha ha, that's fantastically funny.

So apparently, Vardy to Chelsea is picking up steam.
Wot?

What makes you say it's picking up steam?

Most recent thing I read was from Matt Law who said we have an interest but haven't acted on it.

Not saying it's going to happen and not saying this is a 100% reliable source.
But the folks over at 100%Chelsea claim to have a "source" that says the deal is done and Vardy will be a Chelsea player by the time Leicester face us.
Again, I'm not saying it's accurate or even reliable, just thought I'd update the thread.

Never heard of 100% Chelsea, is that a website, Twitter account etc?

It's an interesting idea signing Vardy. He seems like a player Conte would like working with. Conte doesn't seem convinced with Michy and in truth neither am I, doesn't seem to be able to get himself into games.

I wouldn't be surprised to see us sign another striker but surely we can't sign both Drinkwater and Vardy, that'd leave Leicester really short and they won't be able to sign replacements on such sort notice.

Youtube channel, I don't watch them often but I happened to stumble upon the video.
We're also 6/4 favourites to sign him.
I'm thinking Conte wants the ability to play with 2 up front, Michy has been great for the national team with a striking partner and Morata has had experience playing alongside Tevez.
Possible formation: 5212
Tibo
Moses Rudiger Luiz Azpi Alonso
Kante Bakayoko
Hazard
Vardy Morata

And against strong midfields we can drop Luiz in midfield and Hazard in a free role behind the striker. Imagine the pace on counter attack we'd have.

I like your way of thinking Tom, your information better be damn right.
