Would he be good cover though ? he can't defend, he doesn't position himself well, he's not great going forward. If we pay £30m, it would be £30m for somebody that is going to offer us pretty much nothing positive on the field. Arsenal have been trying to find a position for him for years now and he still looks poor.

he is not finished article...but i think he is getting better in the last few games i watched..

and i think conte will get more out of him than wenger...

Apparently he's been offered a new four year contract on £125k a week...let's see how strong his ambitions truly are...

We won't match that so good riddance

Looks like Oxlaide Chamberlain has rejected Arsenal latest contract offer of £125k a week...says that's not about the money and more about regular football...stick or twist time Arsenal...

Liverpool then? Unless he's promised moses' spot

He can cover LWB, RWB, RW and CM so his options are good with us...besides he can stay in London and get medals

CHELSEA are set to test Arsenal with a new £35m offer for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Absolutely not worth it at £35m with a year left on his contract, if we pay that we're effectively valuing him upwards of £50m (which is a ludicrous price).  I get that he is English and young, but seriously?

True, he pretty much solves our HG and depth issues in one swoop

Apparently rejected a new contract offer from Arsenal and told Wenger he won't renew.

We're allegedly going to submit a new offer off the back of that.

Could go down to the last day this one.

How did 35m become 50m?

Based on the fact that if he had more than one year left there would be an additional premium to pay.  i.e if he had 2/3 years he'll probably be worth around £15m more (Usually one year left on a contract tends to mean you get them a little cheaper given the club they're at doesn't want to lose them on a free).  Previous deals for players with only a year left suggests that you tend to get said player for around half price or just over.

Obviously I'm speculating as to how much he would go for if he had more years on his contract.  But it's a pretty reasonable guess to say he'd be worth circa £15m more.

I agree, however with the situation our board has put us in we come across almost as desparate to buy as they would to sell, so whoever we buy now we will be overcharged for.

Well, lets look on the bright side, Arsenal will have messed it up even worse when they watch half their team walk on a free next yr.

Who gives a damn about the money?  Just sign some players, for God sake. OC is a young english lad, with excellent offensive skills and he's a rock physically. Under Conte's regime and control he may improve a lot. We are running out of time. Just give them the damn money. I don't want another Papi Djilobodji panic buy.

Stick or twist for Arsenal...if he's already turned down a £125k a week offer from them, then it's unlikely that they'll convince him to sign another...question is are they prepared to walk away from £35m for the sake of keeping him for one more year...? My instinct is that Wenger is so obstinate that he and Sanchez will be force to see out their contract even if it means he turns his nose up to the best part of £100m...

How long left on his contract? Cant see Arsenal wanting to let him go really, and not sure we can force their hand!

Hes into his last year of contract.

I think honestly Granoskaia and Emenalo are fishing in a mountain river, certainly they are not trying to buy some players.

Mostly after having seen Luiz so good in the middle.

At worse, Conte takes off the suit and play near whoever.
