Serbia didn't have the experience for that game, the backline Milenkovic from Fiorentina is only 20 years old and Veljkovic is 22 years old - compared to such an experienced duo of Thiago Silva and Miranda there is a big experience gap.
Then Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is also young, 23 years old and this tournament was his first ever for the first national team, IMO Matic that is a veteran didn't take any responsibility for the squad he only passed the ball back to the centre backs and left all responsibility for creating something on Sergej that had no prior experience for the national team at this stage.

Serbia played well considering all that and challenged Brazil that scored twice but didn't dominate the game, in the end the subs of Serbia, Zivkovic (21 years old) Jovic (20 years old) Radonjic (22 years old) are the players that represent the new generation.

In the end of the day Kolarov showed up as the captain and did well and honestly the opposition players were kicking the sh*t out of Mitrovic every single game, just this game against Brazil Miranda kicked him in the leg very hard and Silva almost kicked him in the head but he doesn't fake it and keeps playing, I prefer him playing fairly and like a man than that bread stick Neymar that acts out as if a hurricane hit him every time he's touched, they said that he is the most fouled player at this WC but no sh*t he is faking it half of the time...

That suggests to me to expect Serbia to do better next WC.

I didn't think Matic played badly and don't really see him as a creative midfielder and noticed he did try and break the lines with his midfield surges.

The club needs to hire these Genk scouts. Genk has been a fantastic supply line of talented youth.

Thank you, Deino.

Not only the scouts, but we have a very good education plan.

The next one will be Leandro Trossard. Don't forget that name.

I wouldn't mind if England lost tomorrow, or draw the game and get more yellow cards than Belgium so we finish 2nd in the group. Avoiding Portugal, Uruguay, Brazil, Mexico, France and Argentina at least gives us a realistic chance of playing in a semi final.

Not being rude brother but we could be playing Moldova in a friendly I'd want us to smash them, we're going to end up playing a good team at some point plus some of the minnows play with more 'heart' than the so called big nations anyway! Also as one poster before me stated it's better to be in a winning mentality in a knockout tournament!
COME ON ENGLAND :D 🇬[emoji1058][emoji1058]🇧(sorry had to use this flag as they don't have the English one on my phone)

As an American, I don't know what is worse: not having America in this World Cup, or having do see these awful Volkswagen commercials having "fans" from other countries petition the support of Americans.

All the African teams out, Japan scraped into rd16 as last Asian representatives, 5x South/central American teams, and an impressive 10x European teams, would of been 4x  S.Americans and 11x Europeans if Germany had got through.

All the European teams are strong, you could make a case for any of them winning it, the only non Europeans i can see winning it are Brazil and Uruguay, and that's a dodgy call, if they come up against a strong tough European defence i think they'll struggle.

The Africans I saw were not far off just a little quality missing in the final third. Two of them went out in the final group match against South American sides.

Both Brazil and Argentina played their best match in the final group game which makes them difficult to assess as they could be improving.

Yet to see Fra, Spain & Port in their final group matches.

and the Italians and Netherlands didn't make it....it's ok increasing the number of countries reaching the finals but we want to see the best teams

At least we can find out who has the best 2nd eleven, maybe they think they win the silver World cup or something.

Sort of what I’d expected. As the result is not critical both managers see it as a perfect opportunity to give games to other squad members and avoid injury and bookings to key players. Still expect both teams out there to be trying for the win.

of course it might be interesting to see if in the last 5 minutes both teams are locked in a boring 0-0 then start kicking lumps out of each other to see who can accumulate the most bookings.
