Cavani is better than Suarez in my opinion. Two special goals, defensive work, and no act games.

Another good match. Uruguay work really hard for each other and deserved their win. Two great goals by Cavani,Suarez working his socks off. 

The competition is turning out to be a good watch overall. Hope it continues and we can look back in years to come as one of the better ones after the poor world cups we have had this millennium.

The play acting has intensified in recent years. The previous WC wasn't this bad and who could forget the 2010 WC Final where it was basically 2 teams being sh*thouses and Xabi Alonso getting kungfu kicked in the chest by de Jong.

I love Cavani's work ethic. His movement in the penalty area is brilliant and though he misses a few he still gets his fair share of goals. Would love him to be leading our line.

 

Together Suarez & Cavani gel really well  and worked hard, on TV said they had played together for 12 years.

No Italy or Holland, Germany and Argentina gone, Portugal out the way too, England will need a new nemesis if they don't win it.

I don't think today will be exciting yet yesterday has certainly got the tournament going and don't think many defences will fancy playing against Mbappe though will be interesting to see how Uruguay try and cope.

Spain have been far from impressive so far. Could Russia get the better of them? There aren't many good teams left now, it's hard to look past France or Brazil to win it.

That's a good point re Spain and Russia resting players and looking poor in their last game, I'm going for Spain and Croatia.

Hard to choose a lineup for England these days, as the players are all so bad. Going for:

 

Not a fan of Walker in a back 3, but I've not been impressed much by Maguire either. 

No quality in CM at all, the choice is between Henderson and Dier. Oh how I miss the days of having people like Lampard, Gerrard, Scholes, etc... to choose from.

 

I think Southgate has done well so far excluding Belgium which was  a B team so I would be happy to see McGuire, Young and Sterling back from your selection above. Happy to see the others come on as subs if needed.

Believe Southgate chooses the others as they are stronger in certain ways. 

All Spanish players except Silva have copious amounts of gel in their hair. The Russians are doomed 

that Russian defender obviously hasn't been watching the tournament - if the ball hadn't ended up in the net that was a penalty. Maybe VAR will put an end to wrestling at corners and free kicks. That'd be an achievement in itself. 

Should of been yellow carded as well as given the OG.

Im going to be pissed when VAR isn't available next season and all the grappling starts again. It's got to be rolled out for every competitive top flight game now.

Are you saying it's been consistently reffed? I would say that VAR has ignored most of the grappling.

Zhirkov looks even more like Cascarino than when he was with us.

it hasn't been, but it raises the chances that it will be and so you'd imagine players' behaviour will change

10 minutes of Spain playing percentage passes for no reason, boring as hell.
