Well they did sign Morata from us, and they also just signed some young striker, he’s Balkan but can’t remember which specific country, so I could see them moving on from Costa.

Edit: Šaponji? is his name

I'll call it now, we'll be linked with him for €130 million in 2 years time

Reckon he would have smashed it this season. Usually takes foreign players 6 months to adapt to the intensity here.

I'm certain that this wouldn't have happened with Higuain. The simple fact is that his body doesn't allow him to be as good as he used to be. He's gotten older, he doesn't move well, he would never have adapted to the Premier League at this point in his career.

He’s the same age as Aguero and only a year older than Aubameyang. And they’re still toying with PL defences. With 6 months of PL football already under his belt and a solid pre-season Higgy would have been tearing it up.

I’d sooner have him than the two immobile beanpoles we currently have to make do with.

I´ll quote you on that come November.

So you except a productive season from Giroud and Abraham? Really? Yeah I’m sure City, Liverpool, Spurs and Arsenal are sh*tting themselves at the thought of facing them. ?

Giroud has never been prolific and he’s virtually finished. Abraham is championship quality at best. Saddens me to say but they’re just not good enough. Our fans need to put their bias aside and get real.

Giroud is not there to score 15-20 goals per season. He played every minute of France´s world cup campaign and had 0 shots on target. You know what they did? The won the tournament. He is there to give us an option for a player who can hold the ball in the final third and allow the wing players to make runs.

As for Tammy the world is his right now, it´s up to him to show what he´s got.

We´re not challenging for any titles this year, no matter who is up front so why pay millions to an aging player who last showed proper form at Napoli rather than develop a younger player so that he will be ready to take the challenge in a year or two when the rest of the squad is set up?

Yes, and their bodies are in much better condition than Higuain's. They are much fitter and in the prime of their careers. Higuain has been showing for a while now that his best days are behind him.

Yeah but France had Griezmann and Mbappe to get the goals. We don’t have that luxury. If Giroud isn’t guaranteed to chip in with 15 goals then what good is he? Call me old fashioned but I want my strikers to bang in the goals. That’s what wins football matches.  Abraham is too raw and lacks the required quality for this level. We can’t even call on the creativity of Hazard to provide the ammunition anymore.

I look at our rivals and their forward options piss on ours. City have Aguero and jesus, Liverpool Firmino, Mane and Origi, Arsenal Auba, Lacazette and Pepe and spurs have Kane and Son.

What do we have? A striker who’s job isn’t to score goals and a youngster just out of the championship who already failed once in the PL.

Would have rather kept Higgy

Doesn't work as simplistically as that in the modern day. Bayern won nothing with goal a game Mario Gomez up front, benched him to sign 1 in 3 Mandzukic and became treble winners.

As Chelsea fans who had Drogba for nearly a decade we should realize as much as anyone that strikers need to be more than just goalscorers.

What are you talking about? Bayern won 2 Bundesligas and 2 German cups with Gomez leading the line.  He was also part of their treble winning team chipping in with 19 goals that season.

I'm refering to the year before he was dropped, despite 41 goals in 42 games Heynckes needed more and then the next year where previously season attacks were breaking down at MG's feet, MM kept it rolling which in turn led to Robbery and the fullbacks/CM's causing havoc.

Point i'm trying to make is the days of being able to get away with flawed but scores strikers at the top level at any level more than a squad role are over, even the very best fox in the box types like Gomez and RVN got upgraded on after a while.

Thats because Bayern had players in other parts of the pitch where there were goal scorers... Thats a problem for us because we dont seem to have a solid goal scorer anywhere on the pitch and havent for a really long time. Even Hazard wasn't much of a goal scorer, he was much better at creating chances.

The only thing I will miss about Higuain is the comb-over.

I've seen milk turn faster than him.

I found some milk the other day at work that was kept in a fridge that wasn’t on for 3 weeks and had leaked a bit.

I’d rather experience that again than experience watching Higuain playing for Chelsea.
