Jesus when it comes to picking strikers, we really are terrible. The majority are over the hill. About time we changed strategy i think? More than happy to have just Giroud and Tammy this season seeing as we cant make any signings.

It is weird that we can't pick them.  Drobga is obviously the stand out but other than that I'd argue only Costa and Anelka can hold their heads high for us in the last 15 years.

I would argue Crespo too. He was brilliant the 2 seasons he played for us, but unfortunately couldn't settle.

Ahh yeah, I felt there was another one but I just couldn't think off the top of my head.  That goal against Wigan is still one of my favourite goals to watch.

The likes of Remy, Ba and Eto’o did alright. Probably did what was expected of them but the bigger money strikers we sign? Eurgh...

He only went downhill due to the death of kids in his family which deeply affected his personal life... Cant blame him at all.

Drogba and Costa are the clear standouts. Aside from them, you could even argue that when we bough Anelka he was way past his prime (despite still actually not being too bad for us)

In the Abramovich era, Drogba and Costa are the obvious standouts.

Notable mentions for Crespo and Anelka who were solid.

Speaking of Costa he’s been linked with moves to Everton and West Ham. 

I find this baffling for several reasons:

- he hated living in England

- he’s only 30 and can surely do better than those two.

They're rumours. Someone somewhere probably made them up after the Friday drinks with the office.

example of the dirty red media spin that Chelsea has to deal with - anything to unsettle the club is printed - also the Conte relationship probably put DC off a bit as well - now DC is trying to get that last big paycheck to end his career - I don't blame him though - get paid to play while you can IMO

To which club Diego is rumoured to be linked to, is of no concern to Chelsea anymore, why would the club get unsettled over that? And West Ham as the last big paycheck destination? If you want to to go down the conspiracy path, you need to think up better examples

nope...Any EPL side is paying more than many other clubs. ATM, DC is not where he was say 5 years ago. Right now I am sure he is hoping to make about 15 million before his career is over. Father Time is coming for him soon. BTW on the topic of the media unsettling Chelsea, I was talking about when DC was at Chelsea. You know during that winning streak in 2014/15 & Top of The Table. The media didn't appreciate the run & were pulling all of the stops in hope to derail Chelsea. Sorta like the Europa League Final. All I heard was how le arse had the best attack & how Emery knew how to win the competition. In the end, we had the last laugh.

I doubt Atletico is willing to sell Costa after losing Griezman, as much as being crazy person. If he's leaving, at least he'd go to a team playing in the Champions league, or one with unlimited budget.

He'll probably end up in China or Turkey for his final big bucks, not at a British club.

Every supporter thinks everybody and their milkman is against their club. Well, perhaps not Liverpool supporters, they're too busy with other things.

Tbh i'm think he may even be punching above his weight with those 2. He's declined just as badly as Alexis has if not worse.

Very much so. In reality he's been pretty bad ever since his form dropped of a cliff his last year here, we just assumed it was because he was sulking.

If we resigned him now he would make the Falcao us and United had look like his prime version.

Well they did sign Morata from us, and they also just signed some young striker, he’s Balkan but can’t remember which specific country, so I could see them moving on from Costa.

I think Anelka  won the premier league golden boot with us despite not being the sole striker. There’s a few strikers getting round the place that would like to be that over the hill. He was the last striker we had that had both pace and skill. Infinitely better than say Torres.

Do definitely agree there, he was actually good for us. But the point is, that we dont tend to buy young and upcoming strikers and instead always go for people past their prime, Anelka included. Costa and Drogba being the sole exceptions. 

I think Demba Ba should be added to the list of Drogba and Costa. He wasn´t the caliber of player as those two, but he wasn´t supposed to be. I think he gave a great return on what he was brought in to do. 

The Gerrard slip and that scissor kick against Man United would be in my top 50 chelsea moments of the decade for sure.
