Good draw for us, Liverpool already gone , L'Arse and ManU to play and Spuds away

The next rounds looks good for us and with the other match-ups opens a pathway for us to progress forward.

Got a feeling OGS and the Red Devils will come a cropper at Arsenal though not many other upsets

Luton fans getting so excited at the prospect of playing Chelsea. Some even saying it will be revenge for things Chelsea fans have done in the past. Talk about having a chip on your shoulder.

Idiots, same Luton that couldn't sell out at the 94 cup semi final, as for taking revenge for the past, have Luton suddenly acquired a huge firm or have I missed something?

Please please let it be Luton. Horrible nasty club, with vile fans I’d LOVE it if we smash 5 past them.

Half of my family are Luton fans lol.I wont show them this.

Real shame that the FA Cup has diminished so much from what it once was. With the focus and money involved with the PL and CL, year on year the FA Cup seems to be a little less relevant. The BBC still try and build it up with "Plucky Newport, Giant-Killers Accrington Stanley.......The Magic of the FA Cup, this is what it's all about", but crowds and audience figures are dwindling and majority of teams are resting players for "more important" league fixtures - not just the big clubs, lower league teams too.

So sad. When I was a kid it was ALL about the FA Cup. You had a kick-about with your mates over the park and you were all scoring the winner at Wembley. When we reached the final in '94 and then won it in '97, it was massive. But now it is becoming a bit like the Europa League - seen as a bit of an inconvenience and you might not agree with the stance some clubs are taking but cannot really blame them when they are almost happy to get knocked out so they can concentrate on PL & CL. Hasn't helped with so many games now being played at Wembley so again a trip there is not what it used to be, although for lower league / non league clubs, still a day they dream of.

Shame, but I wonder how long it will continue at this rate.

The FA cup was never bigger than the league title or the premiere european competition. Id say its probably on par (if not lower) than the europa league.

Don't get me wrong, I'd still love for us to win it, but if i had to choose between the champions league or the prem title, its a very easy choice

Definitely lower than EUFA cup for me. I'd have it as CL>PL>EUFA>FA>LC.

Just as a matter of interest how old are you and do you live in UK?

Not saying the FA Cup has ever been bigger than the league or European cups, but back in the '70's, the league always seemed a bit of an anti-climax. Watching the likes of Liverpool, Leeds, Derby & Forest win the league - it just washed over me. What mattered was that Saturday in May when two teams appeared at Wembley to try and lift that coveted, famous trophy and every household would be glued to their TV screens to watch the whole days events unfold, with street parties to boot. You went over the park with your mates to have a kick-about and you emulated scoring the winning goal in the FA Cup final - not scoring the goal that helped you win the league.

Alas, time has moved on and now it's ALL about money. Think it's something like £3.5M for winning the FA Cup - £90M for finishing bottom of the PL and getting relegated. Madness

@Nibs I still love the FA Cup and I always did since I was a kid, I can definitely related to scoring the winner at Wembley down the park.

I’m always proud that even recently we’ve also taken the competition seriously and played strongish sides, that’s how come we’ve won it so much so often.

Looks like our game will probably be played on the Sunday, 27 January as the second leg of the Carabao Cup will take place on Thursday, 24 January.

https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2019/1/8/date-set-for-semi-final-second-leg?cardIndex=0-3

We then play away to Bournemouth in the League on Tuesday, 29 January unless the club asks for that game to be moved to the Wednesday.

I agree @Munkworth. So many great memories of the FA Cup.

Sadly, I have been effected. I just don't get the same buzz any more. Age thing, modern football, too much on TV, money, Wembley, silly colour boots...........who knows. No matter how much we pretend otherwise, the great old competition has been reduced in status and will never return to what it was - not unless Accrington Stanley go on to lift the trophy this year anyway!!

Well they can get to the final but they’ll end up with runners up medals. They might as well engrave ‘Chelsea’ on it now

https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2019/1/8/bournemouth-game-moved-date-set-for-fa-cup-tie?cardIndex=0-1

There has been a change to the date of our upcoming Premier League away game against Bournemouth, and the date for our FA Cup fourth round tie has now been confirmed.

Our away game at Bournemouth was originally scheduled for Tuesday 29 January, but will now be played a day later on Wednesday 30 January, with a kick-off time of 7.45pm. Tickets go on sale tomorrow.

Our FA Cup fourth-round tie at home to either Sheffield Wednesday or Luton Town will take place at Stamford Bridge on Sunday 27 January.

A kick-off time for that game is yet to be announced.

I do a lot of deliveries in Leighton Buzzard, Dunstable and Luton, and I've got to know a fair few Luton fans, a few who I'd class as friends now, so no beef from me.

Great shout Nibs, the FA Cup had a magic that has disappeared to a large extent now, but as long as there are those of us who'd still rather win the cup than finish 4th, just cos any season that ends in a cup is a good un, the FA Cup will always be special.

Looking through my programme collection I've one dated 29/04/70 and one a week earlier against Liverpool. How I treasure the one were we finished third ...not!

24, born and raised in london :)

wasnt around in the 70's so i wouldnt know, but i understand where you're coming from. Its a shame that its all about the money, but I feel because of the carabao cup, it has diminished the value of the FA cup seeing as both are very similar. If there wasn't a carabao cup, the FA would definitely feel a lot more important than it does currently

For me the FA Cup is still special because it starts more from the grass roots with the Non-League players and they can dream. Don't like them messing around with times etc..........

The Carabao cup is a strange one, I didn't realise it was all four leagues thought it was just the top two and also thought some time back when we were again in Europe the previous big teams opted out.

In more recent times it is treated differently as with the bigger squads it offers more chances to play squad players and rest some of the top stars.

For me it is the junior cup finishing mid-season as opposed to May and offers more clubs the chance of silverware which keeps the fans motivated and more likely to keep coming.

I saw us win the double against Pompey at Wembley, ( a seemingly impossible dream having endured the sh*t years like many on here), and thought fan celebrations were pretty muted after.

Remember thinking if there’s not even much in the way of collective joy after a double triumph what’s the point.
