I think I have asked this before but any of our American fans got any opinions on who Todd Bohley, The Ricketts family and Sheriff Woody have done with their respective franchises?

@Valpo perhaps?

In my opinion Boehly would the best of those 3. LA Dodgers are very well run. Ricketts have been a mixed bag with Cubs. They brought success with the World Series but squandered the chance to repeat with a very talented team. Woody would be a definite no. New York Jets are an awfully run franchise.

Least the lead of Saudi Media is a Chelsea fan.

Yes but there are obvious pitfalls if we are going with that bid. Even if approved initially we run the risk of going through this whole saga again in the Saudi's fall foul of UK gov.

Based on vague reports, I’m not sure Nick Candy really has the funds to keep us competitive.

I don’t want to see any owners who have to leverage debt against the club -like the Glazers have. I believe Raine group are asking bidders to prove they have the cash to buy the club outright.

It’s all guess work I suppose - we don’t really

Know the make of the bids - only Raine do.

The colour scheme of the clubs (franchises) match at least if it’s him.

The UK (and US) has strong ties with the Saudis. It's not the same as Russia.

The story comes from one source, Daily Mail. If you read that sh*t you deserve pain.

I copied the story from another Chelsea site, but you’re right. I should have said “if this is true”.

Peter Bonetti’s memorial was initially planned to take place not long after his death, but was delayed due to the pandemic. And so a new date was set, for this forthcoming Friday. Hopefully this time round it’ll take place as planned.

Latest on the official site is that “The event is free of charge and will go off sale on Thursday 17 March at 5pm”, and are available to season ticket holders only.

Peter Bonetti Memorial
Friday 18 March
Turnstiles open at 1pm
Event starts at 2.15pm

We've just effed ourselves with that Boro request.

No we did not. We made ourselves look foolish and inconsiderate however made a political move pushback that lost us nothing.

These blokes are businessmen first football fans second who they support although a factor is not the major one if they see a good business op they will take it.

Well the club have withdrawn their request to play the Boro tie behind closed doors.

And more importantly, breaking news on Sky is: ‘Ukraine latest as President Zelenskyy says "pretty good" peace talks were held - and hints he could drop ambition to join NATO’

God I hope this is the beginning of the end of the war/conflict/invasion, call it what you will.

You mean....like the players used to travel? 😉

Oh the delights of a coach after a heavy defeat at Oldham, Burnley, Blackburn. I remember going to Villa away in 84 and the coach had a video I thought it was the height of luxury mainly porn and the second series of The Young Ones as I recall. 😆

Pretty sure some of the players used to lose half their income playing cards on the coach to and from games. Although sounds like wee pat (from his book) would sometimes elect to skip the coach back if there was a decent band playing in town 😉

That's not how it works. Of course Goldstein's not going to liquidate us or relegate us to the Championship because that would be very obvious.

What he'll do, is make us mid-table/Europa Conference League contenders. You don't have to win trophies to make big profits, look at the Glazers.

Please let me note that I don't follow baseball so I'm just gathering this from my research.

The Ricketts wouldn't be good because they have been claiming poverty in terms paying more for the Cub's wages but seem to have the money to buy Chelsea.

Woody Johnson would probably be the worst.  He owns the Jets and they constantly suck even though the NFL goes out of it's way to help losing teams turn around and win.  If your team is constantly bad in the NFL it usually means the ownership is incompetant.

Bohley is hard to say.  I guess he's part owner of the LA Dodgers but he's not the controlling partner.  He apparently tried to buy Chelsea from Roman in 2019 so I guess the positive is that he seems to very much want to own Chelsea.

Roman has been sanctioned by the EU. Skysports believe this may stop our match against Lille and have contacted Uefa for comment.

I don't think it would affect the Lille game as any tickets etc. were already sold. But who knows?

I hope so but I don't think Ukraine should drop their ambition to join NATO.  Russia wants to leave them vulnerable to future attacks.

Not sure it means tickets as Sky have provided little detail. More like we would not be allowed to compete.

UEFA might be different but I imagine the rules should be the same as FA. That being said I think we run into issues with UEFA if we get past Lille. Because then we will not be able to sell the required allocation to the opponents in QF. Unless of course the ownership change has happened quickly and led to some restrictions being removed.

Would be wonderful if it could be stopped immediately.

After that though what happens with Russia and the rest of the world with all those sanctions there.
