I'd say the double in 1986/87 was Napoli's greatest achievement when Serie A was a league full of teams that were rated personally.

Their best achievement since Maradona then.

And this is why Wallosh is talking utter rubbish, i'm not sure if he's trying to troll but if he is being serious...

Ask ANY Napoli fan which season was better, their 90+ points season last season, or when they finished 24 points behind Juventus in 2013/14 but won the Coppa Italia.

We, as a club, haven't been truly world class since Ancelotti's PL title. Sarri seems to be getting all the stick for our massive decline. But, be honest, would Guardiola have done significantly better with the likes of Kovacic, Willian, Pedro, Alonso, Emerson, Azpi? I mean, with a squad where the only significant issue was the fullbacks City were nowhere near as good a team as they are now, and we have SO MANY more issues. We would do SO much better if we brought in Nicolas Pepe, Luka Jovic, Reece James and Jay DaSilva, I can't stress that enough. The fullbacks also help other players perform better, and I think in Sarri's/Guardiola's style of play fullbacks are the most important part.

Winners of the league cup will be remembered more than being 2nd best in any comp.

No chance. Liverpool's season this season will be remembered far more than United's 16/17 league cup win.

For what it's worth we lost the League Cup Final...*

Today Sarri was tactically outdone by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, in a way exactly predicted by a drunk on a Chelsea forum.

Maurizio Sarri, as much as I love the aesthetic, does not add any value to our performances (and may well detract from them) as manager of Chelsea Football Club.**

*If this is missing the point I apologise, I really can't be arsed to read through several pages of arguments.

**Not that this has been obvious since August or anything...

ask a spud fan which result would feel better? finishing 2nd or winning a League Cup. I am sure they will all tell you a League Cup would be nice to put into their Trophy Cabinet.

I think it's a huge stretch to imply any manager tactically outthought the other, both teams were dreadful today.

That's because Spurs are a small club and would celebrate the Community Shield like it was the Champions League

The question was 2nd with 90+ points

That means winning a lot of big games through the season and being a truly world class team. Tottenham have never had that in the premier league era.

They've won some league cups though.

No one will remember Liverpool this season if they finish 2nd, it will be forgotten the day after the league is wrapped up. At least winning a trophy you have something to celebrate, trophy in the cabinet and your name is written in history.

Its funny how Sarri's biggest fans have to defend him by claiming finishing 2nd is better than a trophy.

What season would you have preferred, 16/17 Spurs or 12/13 Wigan?

I can't remember who won the league cup last season.

I can name every team that has got 90+ points and come second in the premier league history. No one until this year. I can name every team that has come second and got 90+ points in serie a history too.

So can you. Napoli.

I think your looking far too simply at the 90+ pts statistic. The points total is a really grand achievement but also by the 'statistical spread' suggests a weaker league than normal when two achieve this but the rest are a long way back.

As for the truly world class team , how did they do in Europe that year?

::clap2:: let's get it on the CV, what a proud moment in history.

I tell you what, if Chelsea manage to finish second anytime soon and win nothing then you better go and get the champagne ready, it will be a season you will never forget.

I was being a bit over the top. But my point is that I think you'd be a moron to prefer coming 4th or 5th with a league cup win to coming second with 90+ points.

If we're talking about EPL here, I'd definitely prefer to finish 4th with a League Cup win than finishing 2nd.

The only benefit from finishing 2nd, 3rd or 4th in the league is a guaranteed place in the CL following season. And a trophy is a trophy.

Haven't you heard? Finishing second in Serie A is the biggest achievement in football these days.

One team scored because there they attacked a particular zone of the pitch, that zone targeted because anyone with an ounce of sense knows that we have no effective screen in front of the centre backs. Stretch them apart (for example with two forwards, whom you would know to deploy if you'd watched us play this season) and you have a void in front of our goalkeeper. (Not that we have a player within the squad who is particularly gifted in screening these areas or anything... clearly the current manager is getting the best out of the players available).

One team scored because the centre-half had a blind shot from 35 yards, which the best shot stopper in the division happened to spill, then for some reason our contradiction of a left-back was the first person to meet it.

Spurs finished second in a much more competitive league only two years ago with 86 points.

What total tosh. I’m no Liverpool lover but possibly second highest prem’ points tally ever, but because they’re no silverware to show for it, it’s not worth a ...,

Is this really what’s footballs come to?

I'm sure Liverpool fans will get the champagne out, celebrate and remember in 10 years time what a great season it was, much better than winning a trophy.
