Chelsea vs Sheff Utd (PL) SATURDAY 31st Aug 15:00 GMT

Good first half. Second half was the usual collapse. I said we'd concede right after HT and lo-and-behold, we did it again. Could feel a late equaliser coming as well. Any cross low into the box seems to be a goal now, happened against Norwich and Man utd as well.

Azpiilicueta was very poor, beaten way too easily on the right and Zouma hardly covered himself in glory, yet again. I feel like for their first goal, it was a mixture of his poor positioning, but also when the cross is cut back, you cana a midfielder to be close to the defenders to cut it out, Kante probably would have been there.

Going forward, Tammy took his goals well, Mount was ok but then ineffective as soon as he went central. Pulisic was poor.

Lampard was very poor. There is a difference between giving youngsters a chance at the right times, when they've shown they deserve a chance. That was absolutely not the time to bring Gilmour on. Horrendous substitution. Can't say whether it would have prevented the goal to have someone else there instead, but we also just don't appear to be improving defensively so far. Same mistakes all the time.

I believe Frank Lampard wont last as Chelsea coach if he keeps on making decisions based on emotion. It is obvious Tomori started so that we would have our youngest starting lineup in the premiership era.

With the tie on a pendulum and fatigue creeping in on the young 11 who pressed hard till the 60th minute it would have made sense to bring on christensen as a midfielder or part of a back 3 to close out the game but instead lamps bring on billy gilmour aainst a physical sheffield utd side and to make matters worse he brings on Michy Batshuayi when we have Olivier Giroud to hold the ball up and ease the pressure off our defenders and midfielders...

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, I doubt you would say that if Bats or Billy scored a winner etc. We are developing a squad alongside young players, things take time.

I actually thought Willian did ok when he came and generally kept the ball well. Lamps should have bought on Giroud though to hold the ball up.

Disappointing but at least we haven’t fallen behind with the rest of the top 6 results.

I can see his reasoning for bringing bat's on over Giroud, he wanted bats to chase their defenders down and put pressure on them as they were bringing the ball out far too easily.

Thought Willian did ok too, needed to after his last performance. If you're being balanced, there was a chance on the break about midway through the 2nd half where Abraham should have picked him out that probably would have settled the game. To be fair if that was the other way around he'd have been slaughtered.

Just on that, I get that people don't like or have a thing for certain players and are entitled to their opinion. But all the way through the 2nd half Kovacic and Willian were getting hammered by 3 or 4 people around me. Save it for after the game.

Good question. Kovacic from a defensive standpoint was solid, from an offensive one (where for me he was given more freedom than Jorginho to do so) he was appalling imo. One run that surprise surprise goes wide of the target, almost every pass missed the mark in the final third, especially the second half.

He and Jorginho should switch when teamed together. Kova deeper Jorginho more forward as he can pass and he can score the odd goal.

Not sure he's an offensive midfielder but still thought he linked up the play well.

In the drills before the game Kovacic did the exact same thing as the chance he had during the game where he pulled it wide. He also stood out in the one where we keep the ball in the tight space and play quick balls to the open player. Thing about that 2nd drill is I only remember us do it once in the game and it was kovacic orchestrating.

Agree Pulisic and Mount were anonymous yesterday, maybe that's why to you kovacic looked bad in the opposition half. I really hope Pulisic doesn't fall into the 'not suited to the Premier League' bucket at the end of the season.

It has nothing to do with if they scored or not. We had our youngest starting 11 in the premiership era ... It wouldnt have hurt to put on some experience to calm the nerves and see the game out.  Either way i am definitely a Super Frankie supporter i am just saying if he wants to last in the job he should make less emotional based substitutions, besides we all know our ruthless our board can be.

Pulisic is 20 years old first season in the prem. He needs time to and is being asked to carry the team with Pedro, CHO and RLC injured and Willian being willian I.e. cr*p.

I'm not surprised some people are already questioning Pulisic. He was deemed a failure by quite a few on here before he had even set foot on the training pitch

Of course he needs time, like the team/management. Thought he played well against Norwich and Liverpool. Just hope he doesn't struggle to adapt to the EPL, that's all.

They make their bed far too quickly some people.

This time last year we had certain members blowing the trumpet for Higuain, using words like 'natural goalscorer' 'gets in right positions'. Then when we actually loaned him and they could see he was far from what they were saying, they said things like 'needs time to settle' 'were not creating chances'.

Now Tammy is on the scene, back to back braces home/away, and i here them saying 'not convinced' 'its only Championship teams'.

Time will tell who finishes bottom, I.e. worse team in the league. It wont be Sheffield United though imo.

I agree. They just got promoted and obviously couldn't compete with the big players in the transfer. However they seem to have a very good management team, and are very well organized. Their only loss so far was a narrow 2-1 defeat to Leicester City. I think they might make mid-table.

Wonder strike to beat them at that too. Could be a season where all 3 promoted teams stay up. They each have something about them.

Come January it might be down to who can make the best deal on the market to offset squad deficiencies when injuries occur.
