Rebates or refunds will also apply to supporters that have paid in advance for general admission tickets and VIP packages, while a rebate will be offered to seasonal Executive Club members." My own opinion is that we should scrap the season as the Dutch have done. No promotion, no relegation. CL places allotted to Liverpool, Chelsea, and Leicester. The outcome of City's appeal to decide who gets the 4th spot. Thanks. Agree, the season should be scrapped. Won't please everyone but at least everyone will know where they stand. People and clubs will complain that they are missing out but then everyone in society is missing out at the moment or have lost loved ones. Businesses have suffered, people are losing jobs (Rolls Royce announcement yesterday) and education has been disrupted. It will be interesting to see how the City appeal pans out.

There's enough pain to go around all right and football should not be exempt. Clubs who have been operating beyond their means will suffer and those burdened with debt, despite pronouncements to the contrary, are bound to take a hit. If and when the league resumes, I hope the fans get a bigger say in how things are run and that football remembers its duty to them before the broadcasters. I have a sneaking feeling that City's appeal will succeed and they'll be in the CL next season.

Will salary caps like those in both codes of rugby be introduced? How that goes down with players and agents will be interesting. Will a player join or stay at a club for medals or money. That could depend on the stage of their career. Like you, I hope that fans have a bigger say in the running of clubs. One way for the next couple of seasons would be to freeze season ticket prices. I've heard that ST prices at Chelsea were due to be increased next season.
May 21, 20206 yr @Stretford Ender I suspect you've already seen this. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52759246 Manchester United say the coronavirus pandemic has cost them an initial £28m - and expect the final figure to be far higher. United revealed their third-quarter results to 31 March on Thursday. Chief financial officer Cliff Baty said they are set to hand back £20m in TV revenue to broadcasters even if the Premier League season is completed. United lost an additional £8m over the final three weeks of March, when they had three matches postponed. A total of 11 United matches have been postponed because of the pandemic. Speaking in a conference call after the latest financial results were released, Baty explained that Premier League television broadcasters would get £20m back from the club because of changes in dates and kick-off times resulting from the pandemic.

I did see this. The debt keeps increasing and the Glazers still keep taking dividends. It's an ugly situation.

They own shopping malls as well and those places have been on the slide for many years now. Their ownership of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has been pretty disastrous. They won one Super Bowl but they haven't really competed for a title since; in fact they're usually in the bottom half of their table. Glancing through articles in the Florida press and on NFL fan sites, the blame is squarely put on the lack of leadership from the top, and that's what we have at United. A bunch of utter incompetents. They rarely show their faces at Old Trafford, and Woodward, our resident football genius, hangs out in his lair in Mayfair. They have taken in excess of £1 billion out of the club and put next to nothing of their own money in. The FA should have shown them the door on the day they proposed the leveraged buy-out (illegal in the NFL by the way) but they, and our own (then) board were happy to take their money. At least they haven't had any of mine.

Associating the NFL with Karl Marx would get you lynched in some places. But, yes, you're right. The fans have to bend over and grab their ankles while the owners rake it in. Made me laugh when the Glazers rocked up in Manchester and referred to the club as a 'franchise.' A hack asked Joel Glazer who United's left back was and. judging by the look on his face, you'd think he'd been asked to explain Euclid's 3rd proposition. It was obvious that they were here for the money,

Do you remember this and what became of them?

May 25, 20206 yr Very good question, Kevin De Bruyne has confirmed that he's missing football so much he wants to play for longer than initially planned and I can't imagine he's the only one. They have basically been given a taster of what it will feel to retire prematurely (like Scholes did) and will think twice before making such a decision in future. Expect more cases like Giggs and Zlatan in the coming years.

May 26, 20206 yr I wonder if the public's habits will of changed after lockdown, will people of realised the about of sh*t they waste their money on, clothes bought that are only worn once, gambling, spending money on lunchtime sandwiches, when they can be made, countless takeaway coffees etc, and the big one, spending vast amounts on football.
