Players to sell (evergreen "deadwood" thread)

Featured Replies

Zappacosta about to be sold to Atalanta for 10 million euros.

Good deal for us that.

Zouma to West Ham for about £25 million is picking up pace again too.

Expect a late push for Kounde if these two sales go through.

Sounds like Genk and us have finally agreed a deal worth about 5mill for Ike Ugbo. best of luck to him.

Really? Awwww, now that's a shame. I liked the look of him in pre-season, I was hoping for a loan.

Ike to Genk is official.
Apparently 3 mil Euro. (Not the 7 Romano said) and extra 2.5 if Genk reaches Champions League with Ike in their Squad.

Tino Anjorin to Moscow, rumored 20mill euro with buyback.

If that goes through we will have had well over £100M in Academy Sales ... with about 70% of it related to players who have barely even featured in the first team ... pretty much unprecedented I would say ... and quite incredible given the havoc that covid is playing with the finances of most clubs ...

Perhaps that is exactly why youngsters are an attractive option for clubs: moulded by an outstanding academy, relatively cheap, but good prospects to fill a squad, ride out a financial crisis with them.

I think the deflated market ironically has played right into the clubs hands.

We don’t get to know the details in terms of payment schedules for transfers but the boost that the CL gave our finances suggests to me that clubs buying from us probably will be able to pay a smaller  % of the total fee up front and the balance loaded to perhaps year two , three , four or whatever. Other clubs selling would want far more up front with balancing payments significantly less after year two etc

Also the time really is opportune to sell players like Giroud, like Zappacosta like Moses also decisions have been made regarding some of our academy players who will no doubt have decent careers but maybe not at the top table where we hopefully will be seated and with the rules in respect of the number of players you can send out on loan being tightened

The current that trading year will show a significant profit in player trading terms the academy players have no book value so every £ of their fees counts as profit . Selling the likes of Giroud, Zappacosta  and Moses won’t show massive profits but them moving on will probably help toward the amortisation charge that will have increased by circa £19. 5 million pa following Lukakus transfer so by my reckoning one or two of the other players that we paid a decent fee for like Berkley , Drinkwater or the like will be sold for their amortised value which will help going forward

Strong rumours that RLC will follow Tammy to Roma.

Doubt Roma have cash over after buying Tammy, though maybe a deal in installments. No more loans for him please.

Doubt it but at least RLC can finally have a chance to play elsewhere preferably Serie A.

His body can't withstand PL football. Good physique but made of glass

I think the club have finally wised up and realize that it's better to sell and include buyback clauses for fringe academy players than hoard them in the training pitch or have 60 loanees all over Europe.

Still 6 surplus players to shift as we get down to the transfer window wire ... Drinkwater, Bakayoko, Barkley, Baker, Sarr, and Musonda.

Probably also looking for loans for Sterling, Uwakwe, Anjorin and Ampadu.

That's a lot to get done in a handful of hours .. especially if we are still working on some incoming as well ...

Sterling has gone to Blackpool

Has he ? I can't see anything on the club website yet ?

I saw something last night he had extended till 2024 and was going for the season to Blackpool. Just in time for the illuminations. Or did I dream it?

Surely someone has to sign Barkley before the window closes? Still only 27 - should be at his peak - must be worth a punt for a PL club?

Or is everyone wise now that you only get a couple of decent displays a season and he's not so much Ross The Boss now as Ross The Dead Loss...........................!!

Probably fallen out of too many taxis ... people are wise to some of his non-professional behaviour ... probably what has held him back in his career, and why we are looking to move him on ?

Even Drinkwater has been linked to Reading but as far as Ross goes not a peep.

For those who like to know.
Yesterday in the Game Genk vs Anderlecht Made Ugbo his debut in min 82. The game was up to that point a scoreless 0-0. 4 min in to his debut Ugbo scored the 1-0 that won Genk the game with a killer touch. 💙

He was also the person that won the ball for Genk to get possession and initially that would launch the attack.

In case you would like to see the goal. min 3:45

Highlights with Debut goal Ugbo

Despite being royal ripped off by Inter for Lukaku we are sitting at a decent profit so far and hopefully we have more deals still to go out.

Bakas loan fee, Tino to Lokamotive for 10mill, CHO loan fee, will see.

It's them dodgy hamstrings. Also he's never developed further, still plays like that 18year old that broke through. Flashes of brilliance but needs the right setup
