April 2, 20215 yr Mount, kova, havertz played all the internationals I think, but Werner got a good rest. Kante likely unavailable but Jorginho and Silva trained. We should put a decent team on the field. Mount is improving steadily.

Hopefully it doesn't come to that though. Add him to the list of this seasons players to ‘cut losses on’ then; Kepa Bakayoko Drinkwater Batshuai Zappacosta Rahman plus the ones that didn’t cost so much; Van Grinkle Barkley Kenedy Think Marina and her ‘back of a fag packet’ informed scouting team needs an overhaul , cause their success rate at bringing in (and retaining) talent is f**king awful imo ?

Sack the scouts, use our Academy If you are old enough and live in the UK, you might remember Alan Hanson’s famous line about ‘you’ll never win anything with kids’ - he was making reference to manure’s crop of youth players breaking into their first team in the early ‘90’s ; Scholes, Neville, Giggs, Beckham and Butt . Lets be honest, with the exception of Butt, home grown players of their quality and ability don’t come around too often and definitely not from the same club at the same time. Currently only MM , imo, falls into their category of ability and excellence - now let’s see him continue to perform at his current level for the next 5 + years to be truly comparable - before him only JT and Le Saux since the 70’s ? So expecting our academy to be a production line punching out top 4 and CL standard players is delusional and a pipe dream, it is for most clubs and that’s why the premier league has almost 70% foreign players in its teams. If we want to sit at the highest table , we will need to bring in talent, I think we need to give our methods of who and how we do this a complete overhaul cause it’s not working at the minute, again, imo ? April 2, 20215 yr At last Chelsea are back. Lets hope we haven't lost any momentum. Can we start Giroud for this please Tommy.
April 2, 20215 yr Based on unreliable media reading I am led to believe several will miss out due to injury, travel and game fatigue and being saved for Porto. So far this list includes: Rudiger CHO Kante Kovacic Jorginho Mount Ziyech Havertz Huge hit in midfield if true, not so much elsewhere. Could see a team like: Mendy Azpi Silva Zouma James Gilmour Anjorin Alonso Pulisic Abraham Werner Midfield looks week but not sure who else we have thar could play there.
April 2, 20215 yr Time to go back on my word and actually watch this game. I'd said I wouldn't watch the early kick offs because we are always lethargic and tend to draw but 2 weeks have starved me of some Tommy 2 cool and Chelsea action. Only question for me is who starts up top. Giroud and Zouma are said to have travelled a lot and so I'd expect them to be rested at least from the start. Tammy has been injured and is now fit, could be a good opportunity to give him some valuable minutes and emphasise his importance in the squad still by giving him a start. CHO back in training could start as a wing back since we're playing against a team we expect to dominate possesion. Pulisic looked pretty good on duty and could also displace him on the right or start further fwd depending on who is up top. With Kante injured I expect Kova and Jorgehh to start but Mason could also get a nod in the pivot. However, he's played a lot of football and we can afford for him to have a rest so maybe he starts on the bench. He could look to start Thiago and give him some game time, Andreas is also in inspired form and we could see the two start alongside Cesar. I'm going to go with 3421 Mendy, Cesar, Silva & Andreas. Jorginho and Kova in the pivot alonside CHO/Pulisic and Alonso. Ziyech, Werner and Kai/Tammy up top. Edited April 2, 20215 yr by LongtimerLurker

Do you walk around trying to distract yourself or are you able to just forget the game is on... I couldn't sit around knowing we were playing and not watch. :0)
April 2, 20215 yr Pretty easly line up to predict with the international break injury and fatigue Mendy Azpi Christensen Zouma James Jorginho Kovacic Alonso Ziyech Havertz Werner
