Reports say TT has failed in his attempt to convince the board Kounde is worth his buyout clause. However Marina remains in contact with Atletico over Saul, a deal all parties want but is a case of who blinks first.

The best thing that can happen to Odoi now is to go on loan to Dortmund.  A 2 year deal without an option to buy would suit both parties well. As much as he is talent, Odoi requires constant games in an attacking team like Dortmund to sharpen his goal scoring g and decision making skills. Also he is most dangerous when playing as  LF or LW which is a position I will say we are fairly stocked at the moment in Werner and Pulisic

We probably needed Saul more than Kounde at the moment to be fair to Marina. If we can work out something with Athletico without the obligatory buy option, I would be all in for it more especially with injuries to Kante that needs careful management. With Saul as the 4th midfielder and capable of playing all roles in the midfield, it free up ampadu and probably RLC to go on loan and develop more with gametimes(Sarri interested in RLC if reports are true) and Trevor will slot in into Zouma's void whilst keeping us reasonable ok on all departments into next summer then we can  reassess our options to either retain Saul and Chalobah or replace them. It also knocks off another year from Kounde's contract and a chance to do the deal again with Sevilla all things been equal.

I am an investment banking analyst by training and career as I've said a few times. We live in the future, often its the near future, but its the future, and its unknown in many respects. But what is known is that players get older, slow down, old injuries catch up with you, then they get magnified because you are overworked. Ashley Cole is a good example. When the happens who knows. The Netherlands had Arnold Muerin still delivering ridiculously good crosses from deep for Holland to win the Euros way back when and when he was in his mid 30s, but in general Dave's best years are behind him and planning for his replacement is essential. Its partly because he is so reliable that replacing him is so important. 

TT already experimented with using Reece there, didn't work. Maybe it can be Chalobah. There may well be another great season in Dave but the odds against it are increasing all the time. One thing every player from Pele to Ronaldo falls prey to is age. Still I am personally more worried about midfield cover. For me I things it more likely than not that at some point in the season two of our three main midfielders will be injured and I think there is a finite probablity all three could be injured at the same time. 

Personally I think coverage there is completely essential, plan B, Plan C and Plan D

There is also the matter of Xaiver Mbuyamba and how well he recuperates from his injury. If he does well he may well push on in to the first team squad next season.

We upped our offer by 5mill, sevilla have turned it down, however they may be willing to accept 70mill euros to get it done.

I like the olden type, almost dramatic style of writing 😂😉

What gets me is this is Tuchel's first transfer window,he did fantastically last season but will have more pressure to win something because of it,and all he has been given is one player surely he would have asked for a bit more that should have been given to him.

The deal is over for Sevilla according to multiple sources.

Kounde would have been an upgrade but we have enough bodies for these spots. For Chalobah this is welcome news. 

Midfield is the worry. It seems Ruben is staying. Tuchel said in the pre-season Ruben has to be really pushed to make the team. For me it indicated he isn't convinced of Ruben's current form/ability. Barkley has not moved either so maybe he is staying as well. 

Could we do a deal with them to sign the player but loan him back out like we did with Pulisic? That way, we secure the player but th keep him. We should have enough in defence for this year surely?

That would be pretty good outcome.
