If you don't like it, go ahead and f**king block me. I don't think Gallagher is a very good footballer, if you don't like that I will point that out regularly, then tough sh*t. When he goes a single game where he can hold his position, play a consistent string of clean passes, and not look so desperate every time he takes a shot, then I will start believing there is something in him that justifies starting every game for us. As it stands though, he just runs around like a headless chicken giving away more fouls than any other player in the league, gets in the way other players and leaves massive gaps all over the pitch because he can't ever hold his position.

You would have had a meltdown if you were on here when the likes of Jorginho, Werner, Havertz and Pulisic were around, they were getting stick for years, much worse than Gallagher ever got.

I like Gallagher. I see the value in him. Okay, I'll give you that. He's not a bad footballer, nobody gets to this level if you can't play football, but he's a very mediocre Premier League footballer.

Im sorry your football career ended when you pissed your pants that fell down around your ankles playing in goal led to falling over and breaking you legs and brain when the big boy ran towards you with a ball at his feet.

He's a hypocritical twat isn't he, don't hear a word of him complaining when other players are getting criticism but when it's one of his favourites you can't say a word.

Wtf even is "having a shade of Kante" supposed to mean? Any player can have a good game and have a shade of Ronaldo, such a ridiculous point. People wonder why we're harsh with Gallagher when there are people on this forum who compare him to some of the greatest players to ever grace the game of football.

If you're asking me would I rather have Lampard or Gallagher playing in our midfield it may surprise you but I think it's a very very close call - and I'd actually plump for Gallagher... Lampard is 45 years of age though.

That’s why he can’t be considered world class.

I still feel there is going to be some movement on this before the window closes in 8days; either he signs a new contract or he is sold. I don’t think they will risk him running into the last 12mths of his contract by the summer without signing a new contract. 

I am going to do some Gallagher bashing.  I know.  He covers the most ground, puts in the most effort, smiles the most, even has some great statistics, tackles won, loyalty strong and his devoted to the club he supported as a boy.  All true.  BUT, if you play as the advanced midfield player in any team you have to score a freaking goal every now and then. No end product. Get your sh1t together Conor.

We've been playing a 433 by the looks of things.

Sorry to go back a while, just been catching up on the thread. 

I agree on the first point, I think he would suit Klopps system very well, but his system bypasses the midfeild generally and they are used as work horses. Build up is fast and direct, with fullbacks offering much more creatively than the midfield, and at its peak it depended on 2 lethal wingers and a creative forward to finish/unlocck defences.

The issue we have with Connor in the middle along with Caicedo and Enzo, is that our system is much more reliant on the midfield dictating the play. We don't have confident, in form forward creating chances for eachother, therefore we are more reliant on the midfield 3 to do so. We build up slow and have the wingers dropping inside (supposedly looking for space but Palmer is the only one that finds it), waiting for the midfield to slip a ball through. Its not Gallaghers strength, I dont think he is awful at it but thats not what he is best at.

I also think its why we have looked a bit better in big games this year. The problems above are less prevelant when the other side takes control of the ball. The game becomes more transitional and Gallaghers strengths are exposed. High energy, pressing and countering. Its a big reason why we should keep him. No matter what we end up doing, whether we buy someone else or play Nkunku/palmer deeper, having someone like Gallagher for games where we expect less of the ball is very useful.

I like Palmer at RW personally. Think he's a wide forward naturally.
