January 9, 20242 yr So Tottenham arent signing him then, almost as if it was completely made up bollocks.
January 9, 20242 yr It reminds me of the consistent Solomon Kalou to Arsenal rumours all those years ago, just nonsense. Gallagher is more valuable to us than he would be at Spurs, I don't think he suits their style at all.

My first thought would have been that they stopped improving.......which is exactly what happened. Mount's gotten worse in each of his last 3 seasons. Havertz is pretty much the exact same player we signed, he may actually be worse now than he was with us. Werner going to Tottenham 2 years after winning the Champions League is about as humiliating as it gets. Edited January 9, 20242 yr by Scott Harris
January 9, 20242 yr I like him. Local lad, works hard, had a decent season so far but hilarious seeing people not want to sell him to Spurs for £50m You can buy 3 better players than Gallagher with £50m. If he's one of the best players in your team your team isn't going to very good for the money we'd get for him we could improve the squad. Of course our owners would buy 4 Venezulan 14 year olds instead so may as well keep him. Edited January 9, 20242 yr by Whats_The_Mata?
January 9, 20242 yr Perhaps, but right now he's the only one who actually stays fit and can play every week.
January 9, 20242 yr I know I'm very harsh with Gallagher, and I'll even acknowledge Enzo and Caicado deserve far more criticism for their below-average performances. The problem I'm having is that this is Gallagher at his very best. Gallagher is not good enough to be starting 30+ games a season, we'll be going nowhere if we keep persisting with that. I've said it before but it reminds me of the Ramires situation, handy player but should never be starting every game. Love his effort, and him as a person, but the manager needs to find an alternative. Because he offers very little going forward and it's concerning me how he's become a key player in the team that we are building.

I mean we've tried half the squad now ... perhaps we need a "Mike Brearley" type ... just in there for the leadership, and to shout at the rest, even if he's a bit sh*te himself. Jordan Henderson come on down LOL

But I have a fear that even if we have Enzo, Lavia, Caicedo, Chukwuemeka, Palmer, and Nkunku all fit Gallagher is still going to start. If that happens that could well and truly put my faith in Poch right in the bin.

Perhaps Poch's career plan was to retire at 52 ? I don't think he's going to get a second year at this rate ...
January 9, 20242 yr I dont even mind him in the squad, but it seems he is becoming a key player for Poch which one of the reasons we are mid table. His touch and his awareness in the pockets of spaces just is nowhere near good enough, it's so far behind the required level its ridiculous. We cant build our midfield around him, if we do, the ceiling for this team is probably about 7th.
January 9, 20242 yr He's crap. Don't care if people think that sounds harsh, it's true. If he wasn't a Cobham graduate, nobody would want him in the team. He just runs around a lot. There is nothing about his game that is good, and I include all of this running around that people praise him for. Him running around like this brings it's own set of problems because we never have a player with any positional sense or composure. How can the team organise themselves properly when they have this guy all over the place doing whatever the f**k he likes? He's not Kante. As much criticism as Caicedo gets (which is deserved) he must wonder where his CM partner is half the time. Gallagher is taking up Enzo's position at times which forces Enzo to put himself out wide, he's leaving Caicedo isolated. And he's doing this without a single ounce of composure in his game which leads to him huffing and puffing, playing sh*t passes and scuffing every shot he attempts. How anybody can think he is playing well this season is unbelievable. I said it before and I'll say it again, there are players putting in as much effort as Gallagher in his position, but because they are actually good at football, they don't need to throw themselves all over the pitch all of the time to stand out. Gallagher gets noticed so much and is fooling people into thinking he is good because we don't go a second without seeing him running around like he's on steroids. The worst parts about this is that the coach and fans can't see this themselves. I have seen Gallagher compared to Modric and a young Lampard for f**k sake, and you have the manager making him untouchable and club captain at times. He's not even better than a Kevin Nolan or Mark Noble.
January 9, 20242 yr Kevin Nolan is a cracking shout. That is exactly his level. He will be a cult hero at Fulham or West ham, but he isnt starting games internationally or in Europe.

I like it when you name check these unknown talents that we could have signed. Makes me laugh.
January 10, 20242 yr Gallagher didn't have the best game, but how is it his fault Caicedo just stopped running with his man, which is ultimately costed us the game. If Gallagher is sold for 50M, maybe we could buy 3 Caicedos ( based his performance so far this season)
January 10, 20242 yr 3 hours ago, just said: Who are those 3 players? Any names? I like it when you name check these unknown talents that we could have signed. Makes me laugh. We spent 50M on Andrey Santos, D.Fofana and Washington. All three can't even make it onto the pitch for for their respective clubs LMAO not sure how he thinks we'd spend the money any wiser.
January 10, 20242 yr Gallagher is not brilliant, but thats not the problem. The fact that we’ve spent north of 250 million on three central midfielders and Conor is still the best of the bunch, is.

Just under £40M for those three ... but other than your maths being a bit off it's a valid point 🙂

He's "better" because of Poch's system exposing the midfield which suits runners running around making themselves look busy more. Same way Zouma was "better" than Christensen under Lampard.

Fair points, but what I tried to argue was not Gallaghers brilliance - rather a complete lack of output from any of our other expensively acquired midfielders. Gallagher is what he is, he will run, press and tackle all day and is a useful, solid player. I just dont get why there is such a negative view on him, while what you should be worried about are Lavia (due to injuries) Caicedo and Enzo who as a trio have contributed close to nothing for us thus far. Throw in Santos who couldnt get a game for Forest, Chukwuemeka who never can get injury free, Caicedo who is in and out of Leicesters team and Ugochukwu who seems far to raw and I would say Conor and Palmer are the only two players in our midfield rebuild who are not a problem at the moment
January 10, 20242 yr With a season and a half left on his contract, his next deal is going to have to match Mount/United money and his agent will have a LOT to go on. It’s not like a low-key Loftus-Cheek situation, giving Gallagher the keys to the castle would be a big problem going forward ‘without Poch’ and god help us if it is with Poch.
