Watford v Chelsea (PL) Wed 1st Dec 2021 19:30 GMT

A very important game. Although we are plagued by injuries it would be disappointing if we don't get three points here. Their defence is poor so I expect us to win comfortably and score at least twice.

Hoping to see my man Saul in the starting 11.

I don't want to rotate too many players. I would swap Werner with Pulisic and maybe start Barkley over RLC and Azpi for Alonso otherwise keep the same team. Give Ziyech 45 minutes otherwise bring on Mount at halftime. I'm not sure if Thiago Silva can play again Wednesday but if he's fit he should play.

I think Tuchel said that Silva is out. Werner,Jorginho and James are to be assessed tomorrow.

Watford has several players out as well, most importantly Ben Foster who loves putting on a show against us and Sarr. Even at fully fit this would be a game I have us rotate in, they can be good but missing such key players is harder on them that United being without Pogba and Varane.

No sense taking any risk on the touch and go players. I would honestly be happy enough if we rested Mendy, Silva, Rudiger, RLC, Alonso in addition to the injured players and doubtful ones.

Remind me again in 24 hours and don’t forget to include @Valerie too, we both easily confused by things and stuff.

It's not us, really, it's the fault of those things and stuff :angry2:

Who the fukc is left, Saúl?!

Ugg a lot of players hurt or banged up.

Biggest concern to me now is the central midfield.  We have no one there.  RLC is a big step down in quality and then the last time we saw Saul he didn't do anything but give the other team chances on goal.  If Jorgi can't go that's pretty much what we have to go with

2nd biggest concern is the #9 spot.  Our options are

Lukaku - Far from being fully fit.

Havertz - Injured, wasn't even on the bench on Sunday

Werner - Can't finish even with the ball inside the 6 yard box.

Pulisic - Can't win diddly squat in the air.  And with 2 big CB's around him he's likely going to be a non factor unless you can get a nice cross on the ground that he can poke in.

Optimistically

                   Mendy

    Azpi  - Christiansen - Chalobah

      James - Jorgi - RLC - Alonso

         Mount      -     CHO

                   Werner

Pessimistically

                         Mendy

     Chalobah - Christiansen - Sarr

        Azpi - RLC  - Saul -   Alonso

            Mount    -      CHO

                       Pulisic

I will also note that CHO may need a rest at some point.

Never one for making too many changes as cohesion can be lost, prioritise one and then the next match swap the rested player.

Funny you say that as I thought Havertz was injured yet BBC stated he was on the bench?

I would be happy with Havertz as No.9 and Mount and Pulisic in supporting roles.

If not then Lukaku until he tires.

Their injury crisis and league position are arguably far worse than CFC's but I'm assuming why would TT risk the doubtfuls vs this lot, plus our squad players make their first team every time. Saul has not played enough to start in that role I reckon, all hands to the pumps get Ross in there and have RLC sit deeper, got Zyech & CHO for width as no James or Chilly per TT plan A, if Silva needs a rest bc he's old 😅  then AC can do a job in the middle of the 3, its only freakin Watford under Ranerei with no Foster this time to appear world class for a day so 0-2 please

         Mendy

Chalobah Silva Rudy

Dave Ross RLC Alonso

Zyech Lukaku CHO

Subs: Kepa, Saul, Sarr, AC, Mount, Havertz etc.

Be interesting to see how AC reacts to being sidelines due to his contract situation. Does he come back confident or will he just be left out continuously and we sign a replacement or 2 in Jan. Strongly linked with one from Hungary.

Think Mount should start this one. He generally thrives on work and needs to play himself into best form

 Mendy

Chalobah Silva Rudy

Dave Ross RLC CHO

Zyech Lukaku Mount

Chilwell, Kante, Kovacic, Jorginho and possibly James all out. Lukaku not ready for many minutes yet.

We are getting hammered by injuries here. How will the midfield even look?

Lord Zinedine Barkley to the rescue

Did you say Mendy?

I don't think Mendy need a rest, he had too much rest already against United

Yeah I guess with the ACoN coming up in a month we don't really need to rest him.

Mendy should never be rested in a league game. I don't even know why it's even a discussion point, ten years ago would you rest Cech for Turnbull in a league game?

As for tonight we actually have a semi realistic shot at creating another (one game safety net) gap. City are heading to a revitalised Villa while as sh*t as Everton are they very rarely lose the Derby at Goodison.

I would have rested Cech for Carlo once in a while sure.

And no chance, you are being ridiculous there @Argo. Rafa looking to do harm to his beloved Liverpool. What's next, Gerrard will try to beat them? Lol

City are just too good for Villa, won't even be close.

Us, City and Pool all will win imo. We will drop to 3rd over the weekend with a loss at West ham.

Rafa got results against them many times for Newcastle and never lost against them for us or Valencia.

Put it this way, Villa under Gerrard's honeymoon period are better than Palace, Southampton and (Nuno's version of) Spurs. City got 1 point out of 9 against those three without scoring.

Hmm thought we lost at Anfield with Rafa as boss. Maybe I am remembering that wrong.

Cannot really compared results like that to paint a full picture mate. We held the same Liverpool with 10 men that beat United 5-0 bit we could only draw with them thanks to a pen.

Pool and City are now in their full swing, most sides won't lay a glove on them, as we will see tomorrow.
