I remember my first season as a season ticket holder was 78-79 when we were relegated with 5 league wins all season. We lost our first 4 at home that season - Everton, Leeds, City, and WBA.
April 21, 20224 yr After Brentford and Real round one TT let the players have it. After today and his presser he sounded ready to tare them apart. Be interesting to see if we get an improved attitude for the rest of the season or if the players are done with this season and perhaps with TT as well.

April 21, 20224 yr Aha remember Stein getting the winner at Upton Park hopefully we beat them this time too.

West Ham fans will outsing us like Arsenals did yesterday, that won't help. We have as big a problem in midfield as we do defence, and I feel TT needs to make a statement to show he was wrong and so were the players. With that in mind I advocate he goes to a 433 and slaps a few wrists by dropping those who performed the poorest yesterday. Kepa James Chalobah Silva Kenedy Mount or Barkley Jorginho Saul or Barkley Ziyech Havertz Werner The level of performance from Mendy, Alonso, Sarr, Christensen, Dave, Kante, RLC and Lukaku was unacceptable and I would see them dropped for this as a kick up the behind. For some (Lukaku, AC and Sarr) I expect this makes no difference whatsoever, but for others we can hope.

If he puts out that lineup I can see the majority of fans fuming before the game starts, though at this point most possible lineups that we can play look kind of like a weak team. Anyway it's just so risky to play a standard 4-3-3, West Ham can go 3-4-2-1 like last time and then we're outnumbered in the midfield, play a high defensive line and lose 1 ball and that's another easy goal conceded. Mendy Azpilicueta T.Silva Christensen James Jorginho RLC Alonso Havertz Mount Werner Let Werner press and he'll do his job, goals to come from James and Alonso. Play Kai and Mason as the 2 number 8's as it was the dream for Lampard, cause lots of problems like Arsenal's Odengaard and Smith-Rowe did to us. Save Kante for Man United and if we're in trouble take out Havertz in order to save him a little bit for Man United and play: Mount Lukaku Werner Edited April 21, 20224 yr by Gol15
April 21, 20224 yr Likely to be facing Bowen, Antonio and Lanzini don't fancy Christensen against Antonio at all. Bowen normally on the right so likely to be up against Alonso and then Christensen, Bowen likes a dribble. Lanzini capable of scoring outside the box if given time and space. Don't know much about Vlasic and they normally have Yarmolenko on the bench.

Whichever lineup he picks I think most of us will be unhappy as the quality is lacking. Side you suggested is weaker midfieldwise than mine imo gol, 1 less body. Either way I think our players are mentally checked out and what happened in real broke them. Have to wait for next season and see what the new owners bring.

Yea but centrally you got Mount and Havertz coming deep so that's 2 players working off the ball in front of Jorginho and RLC. They shouldn't be mentally broken after losing in Madrid, they are professionals and they should be used to losing games and moving on. I somehow believe that the loss against Arsenal probably made the players more upset than the loss against Real Madrid...

Is not Kais game to come deep, in past for us when he did he would lose the ball often. Mason I agree being deeper with his work rate will work but the structure of a 3 and having a holder in jorgi would be better than him and RLC being a two imo. They should be able to bounce back, but how else do you explain that performance. Palace were poor against us, it was not a test, Arsenal wanted it and we did not. The players played like they are broken, the the CL knockout ended their season and they feel 3rd is safe and that the cup final is lost already. They played like players waiting for the summer break.

Kai is more more than just a false 9 striker, what made us go for him was mainly his AM performances and I'm sure he can do a lot in that role too specially if given a little bit of space, before he was new to the team and now he's 22 years old with more experience. With that said, Tuchel will only play him as a striker. Palace always has a gameplan against us and when we score first they crumble but it's not as easy as the scoreline suggests. Arsenal against us has nothing to lose, they played without pressure and they took what we gave them. Did you see Dave after the game he was arguing with a fan so it's not like they didn't want to win. They outsmarted us and if Tuchel doesn't solve some problems West Ham might do it too and then they will really look like they're broken...

Is what makes them leaders. Did Lukaku? Did AC? Did Sarr, Alonso, RLC etc. I don't believe it bothered them at all.

The issue with having so many players that have uncertain futures. I can't express enough that new ownership has to focus on self sustainability and efficient scouting because our spending in the past 5 years and sacking of managers has set us back tremendously.

April 22, 20224 yr No more f**king about by Tuchel with this one...think it's time Kepa got a game as I've not been impressed with Mendy for a while now...and Christensen might as well be wearing his Barcelona top...Sarr isn't good enough for our first team (and no sign of Kenedy either) so Dave will have to move across to LB to cover for George Michael...
