August 20, 2025Aug 20 No idea if there's anything in it, however my guess (and this will probably come back to kick me royally in the a**e is that its a clumsy attempt to say in social media speak clearing all the bad times that have gone before and making a new start from now.Read somewhere that he left his first ever Chelsea post on there which would maybe suggest the above?
August 20, 2025Aug 20 I know feck all about social media. Never had a Facefook account, an Instagram account, a Twatter account. Therefore, I couldn't care less about this.I will repeat what I posted on page 78 of this thread.I was a big Wes Fofana fan when he was at Leicester. Before he broke his leg he was a huge talent. I saw JT start out as a young player, ( I remember watching him playing a pre-season friendly at Barnet), and Fofana, IMO, was better. He had everything JT had plus pace. He was incredibly versatile, looked at home anywhere along the back line, was a beast in the air, and had leadership qualities too. All at a very, very young age. Now, the lad must be absolutely bricking himself, because IF he doesn't recover properly from the latest surgery and this latest long lay-off, he must know his career in top flight football is probably finished at just 24 years of age.I don't think I have ever wanted any Chelsea player to beat the odds as much as I do for this kid. I wish you nothing but the best Wes.If, IF, he can get back to being the player he was before that first major broken leg injury he could be as big a player for us Reece. Exactly like we did with Reece James. And, IMO, anyone who doesn't think he WAS a great young defender before all these injuries, either didn't watch him play much, or they know nothing about top quality defending. Its easy to shine at a club where your back line is Christian Fuchs, James Justin and Jonny Evans. To say he's our best defender when fit (not you, but El Regresso) is a huge stretch when he hasn't shown that for us and has only ever completed a full season once in his career.

I've been signed off work for the past 6 weeks due to a cycling injury, and if my boss asked me when I go back "what have you done for the company in the last couple of months" I'd find it quite unreasonable, to say the least, and tell him to go f**k himself, only in more professional terms. He was regarded as one of the most talented young defenders in the league when he joined us, hence the astronomical transfer fee, and if he is able to playing for us again at anything like the level he was at before, that would be a great thing for our prospects this season and for years to come. I don't know if he's our best defender when fit, it's not possible to know yet and I agree it is hyperbolic to claim that, but I believe he could still become that, and I hope he does.I also don't care if people are offended by him deleting Chelsea stuff from his Instagram. The spineless c**ts abusing him for being injured and holding his transfer fee against him are the lowest of the low, an embarrassment to the club.

Maybe he should focus on becoming fit rather than publicly falling out with his manager and trying to rush himself back from injury thus making him miss an entire season again. Season 4 this year, lets see if he can make his 30th league outing for us.
August 21, 2025Aug 21 The really sad thing about Forfana is his injury record was well known before signing for us. He has missed 2.75 years of football. That's nearly half of his professional career. Genuinely feel for him but what do you do with a player like this?

Everyone pretends like he's the next Desailly yet he's played 34 games for us without a memorable appearance. People rave about this elite talent, which was based off less than 30 games in Ligue 1, which is a laughable level and a single season for Leicester 2 years before we signed him playing with the players i listed previously. This is like Wilshere all over again. Maybe he should listen to the advice given to him by some of the best physios in the world rather than thinking he knows better. Wesley Fofana: "It’s not true. I’m not out for the rest of the season, I don’t know why he [Maresca] said that. I will be back in 4-6 weeks."Surgery needed weeks after this. "Olympique Marseille... We'll see one day. The odd good performance here and there, but he picked up 7 bookings in 14 games before getting injured again. When he does play, he looks reckless.

I think he's a good defender when fit don't get me wrong, but I don't think he's great either, I've seen far better defenders at Chelsea come and go. Without a doubt a terrible signing mostly due to his injury record. You'll never go into a season with the mindset of "we've got Fofana at the back we'll be okay" because he averages about 10 games a season. Even if he was as good as JT he wouldn't be worth the money with the lack of games he's capable of playing a season.

August 21, 2025Aug 21 Yeah I vividly remember errors against Bournemouth and Brighton. Talented but just so reckless.
August 21, 2025Aug 21 Chelsea NewsWhy you shouldn't rule out Chelsea's best defender who En...It’s the 29th day in July – time to check out how our number 29 is getting on this month. Wesley Fofana has had another tough year.Of course, yes, he hasn't been able to show his best for Chelsea, at least not consistently due to the injuries. But he has had some very good games, Arsenal late last year being just one example. My point is, and will continue to be, let's be patient, and give him a season to see if he can stay fit and became the player he was before the injuries.

Bit of Ledley King, and for me a bit of Paul McGrath too. But both of those were a lot older than Wes.I will admit his repeat injuries are understandably trying our patience. I was exactly the same with Reece. I felt it was getting very close to being the right decision to part company. And I would have understood if that decision had been made. But hopefully RJ looks like he is slowly, finally, turning the corner. At 24 years old I'm gonna give Wes another season to see if he can do the same.

Arguable whether he’s an upgrade on Chalobah at this point.

For me, before the major injuries happened, Fofana was on that track too. He was LCFC YPOTY in 2021. Became a French international. If, at the end of this season, he is injured again, or hasn't shown he is near the quality he was in terms of his physical power, his pace, and his athleticism, then yep, let's move him on. BUT if he can gets back to anywhere near his best level, then this conversation will be forgotten very quickly.

Fofana wasn't just Leiceister's best defender, he was their entire defence and the amount of times he intervened to stop us creating got them through two games they should have lost.I also agree wholeheartedly that he is another Wilshere. His ability and ceiling are clear to me but at this point in time his body and the decisions he is making around fitness are preventing him from ever being a footballer let alone a top one. His injury history is alarming because of the nature of his injury - broken leg > knees > hamstrings is the classic progression of chronic leg injury, and as much as I hate armchair MDs on social media giving no-context opinions on sporting injury, this doctor's video from 2021 even accurately predicted the consequences of that leg break at the time it happened, a prediction possible because the situation seems so textbook. But where I don't agree is that Fofana is being a "twat". He may be listening to the wrong advice, or may have made wrong decisions about his recovery, but those are his to make not the club's. He is free to disagree about when he is available as is the manager and the medical team. However, it also exceptionally rare to see a manager who doesn't simply take the player's word for it.This time last year Fofana (and his French-African colleagues) had to recover from serious injury while also being silenced by his employer for calling out a teammate's xenophobia, a teammate who was later promoted to the captaincy. The amount of vitriol and abuse he has had to endure is disgusting, unprecedented and frankly more hurtful because it is largely from his own supposed supporters. In that light, following 3 successive, major, career-altering injuries, 30 games in 3 years is a triumph.

I don't think the two are comparable talentwise or experience.

I think there are plenty of instances of him being a twat, whether its him thinking he knows more than medical professionals or his ridiculous comments on social media and his flirting with other clubs in the press. I agree the comments on the social media are abhorrent, however these occur off the back of his own choices he makes above. Why would anyone committed to a club then go on Instagram and delete all pictures of that club after a comment by the club. That's being a twat, and its going to attract the low IQ fans from abroad to pile on.
August 23, 2025Aug 23 I get he’s not played in 3 years but my God he looked an absolute liability yesterday, Badiashille level performance.Maybe a 6 month loan to France to regain some fitness and match sharpness cos we cannot afford to carry that piss poor level in a title challenge season.Far far far behind Trev, Josh & Tosin as it currently stands and someone as soft and sensitive as Wes won’t accept that.
