SURPRISE, HE'S IN SQUAD TONIGHT, HE MUST PLAY

I think his absence has shown he was a lot more vital to us than people thought. He made mistakes but we are definitely worse without him.

Knew he wouldn't be out for the full season. Hamstring injuries are not 6 month long injuries.

I don't think he would have made any difference if he was available. We were sh*t defensively when he was fit, and sh*t defensively when wasn't. The major difference now compared to before he was injured is that our attack can't save us anymore.

I think his recovery pace has been missed. His ability to move the ball out of defence is better than all our defenders. I think we have looked worse without him and Colwill looks worse without him too.

His and Lavia’s absence had a knock on effect.

They do at our club... his hamstirng will probably strangle him tonight sat on the subs bench.

The most I’ve seen is “will be assessed in coming days”. Wonder what happened now.

Time to face reality and build a squad without Wes and Lavia. Spent way too much their for the lack of availability, let alone even talking about performance levels.

Totally take your point apart from the last sentence. On the very rare occasions they have been fully fit, they have usually been two of our very best performers. The natural ability of both is not in question.

Agree. Poorly worded on my part - I meant before talking about performance levels (which is less of a concern from both), availability must be considered.

How many more years were stuck with this now? 4 years left?

Yes. Meaning he'd have to leave for anything over 40M this summer for Chelsea to balance the books in terms of FFP. An amount nobody would pay most probably. Knowing Chelsea's financial situation is pretty stable, yet can't take any hits in order to invest even more, I think the club will wait until at least the summer of 2027 when his FFP value will be 20M and there is a higher chance to sell him and also register a profit in the books.

Injury worse than Lavia’s. Both muscular injuries.

Both need to be demoted of importance next season.

Santos for Lavia

Guehi for Fofana.

Crazy thing with Fofana, he’s still on the old Boehly contracts, 4 more years of being one of the highest earners with next to no output. At least with Lavia, a decision eventually might/can be made. Woeful state of affairs.

Think we’ll be fine. Just add more bodies ahead of them.

Caicedo, Santos, Enzo and Essugo provides enough depth. Lavia can be a filler.

Guehi, Colwill, Chalobah, & Tosin works too.

No more risking our entire season gambling on a couple player’s fitness.

I really don't get the obsession with Guehi. He's nothing special.

He’s better than what we have albeit not by very much. He’s consistent, proven and always available. Theee very good qualities.

Think the market for CBs are bleak.
