Brave decision if this is the scenario - LOL
January 4, 20251 yr What Maresca said is a little confusing Quote "Unfortunately he [Fofana] could be out for the season," Maresca added. "We don't know exactly but he could be out for part of the season" Out for the season vs part of the season. Surely it's part of the season. 6 months out for a hamstring injury that doesn't require surgery seems ridiculous.

January 4, 20251 yr Use James at CB for rest of season, and then buy someone experienced, i said before season started, Gomez at Liverpool would have been ideal and they were up for letting him go, BUT Konate got injured and then he played
January 4, 20251 yr More money being thrown onto the fire. Honestly, this has been a disaster since it was first rumoured signing. Top flight career over and should just file an insurance claim alongside James and Mudryk.

Fro memory, we were chasing Jules Koundé for over a year and were really close to signing him in the summer of 2022, That was the summer Barcelona kept stepping in at the last minute and signing our targets. When we missed out on Koundé we signed Fofana, who'd just missed almost the entire season with a broken leg. Since then...87 games missed in 2 and a half seasons.

I feel bad for the player tbh, and lesser extent the club. unfortunately, he continues to be a sick note but the club decided to buy him, and it looks a bad decision.
January 4, 20251 yr Really bad news, and terrible timing to announce. Clubs had a poor couple of weeks on and off the pitch. We need one, maybe two center backs anyway as I have doubts over Colwill. Need to accept and plan a future without Fofana.

It’s unmanageable for an elite club. I think its more of a worry that we consider Wes a key player. Even fully fit we should be aimer for more from our CB.

He still expects to be back by mid March at the earliest.
January 5, 20251 yr Getting back mid march, so will probably be match fit to start games end of April. As good as missing the season.

January 5, 20251 yr Better than first thought, but these injuries have always dragged on longer as well. Be surprised if we see him again this season. Realistically, we need to address this situation in the summer. Need a higher performing, and more available, CB.

Lequipe, which annoyingly I’ve learned to not ignore anymore, is close with a lot of French footballer agents and is suggesting Fofana’s injury is like James’ where he needs to have surgery but the player is against it. He’s a ticking time bomb and I’d hope we are ruthless in his transfer like we were summer 2023.

However given fofanas injury issues he is a fool not get surgery.

January 9, 20251 yr I would imagine the player is being hopeful while the manager is being realistic.
