May 29, 20233 yr I'd keep him - something different about him to any other players. Assuming Ziyech, Pulisic, Mount (hopefully not), maybe Havertz, Odoi, RLC all depart (granted last two don't compete in the same spots), we need squad depth and quality. In a firing team he is the type of player that can make the difference. Needs to stop drinking the water at Cobham though!

No one expected Felix to be contributing a goal every other game but his metrics go hand in hand with the eye test which explains the frustration. He is a very inefficient decision maker and not something we should be spending nearly 80m for when our attack is already chalked full of these inconsistent performers. Since he's left Atletico, they are first in the table. Havertz is more than likely going to be here next summer as well. Sconnie can you point me to any player who has made a good number of EPL assists and "big chances" created this season, whatever those might be? I think Sterling leads the way with 3 and if the stats are to be believed he has played over TWICE the total amount of EPL minutes Felix has had!!!! You and others keep losing sight of the fact that the primary problem we have is that we haven't got a natural centre-forward whose movement is smart enough to regularly be in the right places for a pass to be made. As an example, if you watch nearly every game we play, at least 1 or 2 decent balls are put in at the near post area. Meat and drink for a quality striker. A natural finisher would be on to a lot of those with an instinctive striker's movement and would probably convert a few over the season. But we virtually never have anyone making those runs, getting in front of an opponent and making anything of those balls. Felix isn't the problem here. He is part of the solution when we get the right striker in place.

Or is he meant to be our Mark Hughes, David Speedie, Firminho? Don't think he is any of those myself and never will be. But when we finally find a couple of forwards like that Felix is going to be the bomb. If not for us then for some other top team. Players with his natural skills, technical ability and creative thinking are very, very rare. Hall created more chances in one game than Felix managed in half a season.

They don’t play well as wide players..don’t see the logic in this at all his best position is a 10 or a 2nd striker. Havertz needs to be sold anyway so he shouldnt be in the conversation. Having 2 players in Nkunku and Felix for that position is ideal, and nkunku can play as a striker if needs be anyway.

May 30, 20233 yr I just dont see why anyone wants him to stay, he has added almost nothing to the games hes played in, other than some lovely through balls.....for the opposition.
May 30, 20233 yr Shame I'd have liked to have had him next season but I guess with Nkunku coming in the money can be spent better elsewhere.
May 30, 20233 yr NOOOOOOOOO FFS, he's so talented, i would off liked to see him under Pochettino in a attacking possession based team. I think he will ball somewhere else. If we let go of Felix but keep Gallagher or Havertz as a 10 then Pochettino is in big trouble.

May 30, 20233 yr I thought we would have moved to keep him, as he was by far, the most gifted player on the ball we had. But hey ho, looks like it was not meant to be, and if Pochettino doesnt want him, then its good that the powers that be are listening and not just forcing him on the new manager.

Pretty sure part of Pochettino's playstyle is pressing and good off the ball defending which is non-existent with Felix so not that surprising. Edited May 30, 20233 yr by Remodez

You can always allow one player off IMO, and i dont really remember Dele as some sort of pressing machine or even Eriksen. I dont even remember Kane pressing that much and talk of Pochettino wanting Lukaku back who doesn't press. If you are allowing Felix to go but keeping Gallagher and Havertz its a bit worrying for me.

I'm not sure how he won it considering Greizmann had double digits in each but doesn't matter anyway, my point was solely about his end product not his ability.

If you're 'allowing' one player off, they have to offer a hell of a lot more than Felix does. Only a player of Hazard's ilk can get away without doing the dirty work.
May 30, 20233 yr I feel sorry for Felix in a way when he has played he has scored goals and looked lively but in other games he hasn't shown up but that's been happening at Athletico as well but I don't think he did enough overall to say spend 80 million on him when you have got Kane potentially looking to leave the scum and or Victor Oshimen at Napoli so that's my opinion anyway

Because you can play well in a football match without G/A and you can play poorly and still get G/A. Not rocket science.

You can laugh at Dele Alli now but at the time he was a goal scoring machine and racked up assists as well. Eriksen created so many chances and put in a lot more of a defensive shift than Felix currently does. If Felix was doing the above or shown previously he is capable then I'm sure an exception would have been made.

Yes but you don't accidently get 15 goals and 14 assists without playing well. Even looking at chances created doesn't imply he was better but this is all irrelevant and taking away from the original point which is his lack of end product.

Your original point was based on just pressing and work off the ball though. I honestly dont think Felix is any worse than Dele when it comes to that.
