Joao Felix

Featured Replies

I'm not a big fan at all and he would be very expensive cover for Mount.

I think we could negotiate his cost lower than it currently is with Athletico paying a high proportion of his wages. I suspect they want him as much as we want Lukaku.

Overall though I don't think he offers enough on the pitch.

1) wanted to move to chelsea

2) Then wanted champions league football

3) headlines emerge that there may be other clubs interested but none are

4) fails to use his talent to light up CFC's season and costs 10 million to score 3 goals. more than 3 million per goal, not counting give aways that have led to us shipping goals.

5) when no club wants your service crawl back to the parent club... https://www.football-espana.net/2023/05/06/joao-felix-backed-to-make-sensational-return-to-atletico-madrid-this-summer#:~:text=Joao Felix's future is expected,Madrid on a permanent basis.

Cherio Felix. Hop you have a good career anywhere but here at Chelsea.

Just hate the sight of the boy at this point tbf.

Apparently Atletico woild be happy with a cash plus Cucurella and Aubameyang deal.

Though the pair of them may be valued at a combined 35mill, which would leave us facing a huge FFP hit on Marc as his remaining 50mill book value would be due on next seasons books.

never shown his true potential playing with this sh*te all season...give him another year playing with a decent manager.

PS. Haven't been on here because of these stupid f**king Ads...even though my Ad Blocker was turned off still wouldn't let me in..not putting up with this sh*t and making a $ contribution on occasion.

That seems to be the excuse made for Felix for each of the last 5 years of his career though - it's the country, it's the league, it's the pressure, it's the tactics, it's the manager/weather/COVID/Illuminati lizard people

Atletico under Simeone has fostered some outstanding attacking talents, heck even 32 year-old Antoine Griezmann has replaced Felix and is arguably the best player in the league this year.

Felix looks to me the same sort of player as Joe Cole, but whereas Joe Cole took Mourinho's criticism in stride, buckled down and became genuinely one of the best in the world, Felix looks more and more like he has no interest in being anything more than a sporadically mercurial talent.

It is always complicated for player like felix. The talent is off the chart but not at Hazard level.

You can't just let him do whatever he want and you need him to do the small stuff better.

I agree, but I think people are overestimating his talent. You might make concessions for Cristiano Ronaldo, but not Ricardo Quaresma. Unfortunately Felix is firmly in the latter bracket of talent.

Talent is there, application is not. Just does not have the desire to be one of the very best imo

not afraid to disagree with that one but each to their own.

I think saying he is Quaresma is harsh. He is imo very good talent but not balon dor level talent Like eden

I think in term of desire , I will argue he is better than Hazard but we need more end product and more defensive effort.

To be honest I just don't think he's that good of a player, and  never lived up to the expectation of a 100M player. Atletico went on a great run after got rid of him, the world cup went past him without people notce him, he started ever game possible under Potter but never had the level of impact we hoped. At this stage of his career, he needed to do better in terms of numbers ( goals and assists), and unfortunately he hasn't delivered.  Maybe he's capable to be in a team to get us back into top 6, but we had cheaper players doing that for last 2-3 seasons anyway.

He's fun to watch but I just don't see it working for him here. Like many have said, his output just isnt strong enough to justify the allowances that need to be made for him when he plays.

Not to mention the quoted price is just way too high

It's being quoted by various papers that we want to include players such as Aubameyang and Cucurella on the deal and i would be up for that transfer as the potential is there.

However a straight cash deal, no thanks.

Lol...Boehly thinks this the MLB with multi player, multi team trades. By now he should know this sh*t doesn't work in European football. You either pay the money or you don't and there is no need to spunk 80 mill on a useless signing.

He also wants everyone to know he invented the concept in football (as published by his incessant PR). Trades in American sports are easy to equate because of fixed contract values and salary cap etc, but in European football are almost always asymmetrical. FFP punishes clubs who pay high wages too, so trying to trade two unwanted players with high wages is quite a burden on the receiving club.

The closest thing to an equal trade in the history of top-flight football is probably Gallas + 6m for Ashley Cole, and in hindsight that doesn't actually look that good!

Just to go even further off topic, Gallas was on the wane and him plus £6m for one the best left backs ever was good business. It took over a year and a tapping up sanction to get over the line though.

I still like him and will be glad if we get him at a reasonable cost. Wonder what centre forward he might have to play off next season?

Yeah, he's not bad. But a reasonable price, it seems to me, can be forgotten, as Felix was a record transfer for Portugal and now we need to stick to that brand. Especially he is still quite young and promising...
