March 4, 20233 yr You'd think without any strikes going on the trains would have been fine tonight but nope, somehow ended up spending 5 hours on trains, half of it standing, because of issues in both directions... So happy to get a win, biggest crowd reaction I've seen for a non-cup, non-injury time goal in a long long time, so much relief from everyone there. Conversely heard the biggest moment of frustration from the crowd when 10 or so minutes later when we had a break going, outnumbered Leeds... and promptly started passing it sideways and backwards. The subs also killed any attacking play we had and made the last 20 minutes way more tense than they needed to be.

We are all tired of the safe football.
March 5, 20233 yr Wouldn't it be better if RLC and Kovacic were the one's sitting back a bit? That would have allowed Enzo to get further forward... closer to Felix and Sterling to get in the game a bit more. Very negative substitutions toward the end but I guess he is thinking about Dortmund. And if he'd gone all out for another goal and Leed's had scored people would be saying he doesn't know what he's doing again 😊
March 5, 20233 yr So what positive thing that we can build upon from this game? Nothing, unless you say we should play back 3, then hopefully Boehly keep his receipt for murdyk and madueke. Edited March 5, 20233 yr by Bob stark
March 5, 20233 yr 14 hours ago, just said: For sure. I knew that when Jorginho had his customary one shot on target all season and it came back off the cross-bar, hit the keeper on the back of the head and went in. hahahaha
March 5, 20233 yr Didn't watch the game but absolutely wild that Potter won't start talents like Mudryk and Madueke but a player like Havertz starts no matter how useless he is.

We also look a lot better defensively with that set up in my opinion. I don't expect we will play that formation every game, but I also don't think this was directly the reason Madueke and Mudryk were on the bench. Even if we had back 4 I doubt they would have started. Some new signings need more time than others to settle in.

Back 3 is very much a short term gain at the moment. Players are familiar with it and it suits our wingbacks. But what about the attacking talent that we invested in? With Potter's job on the line I can see him salvaging the season with a back 3 even if it means our attacking talent is left on the bench or at home.

Regardless of whether Potter stays or goes, we can draw some encouragement from our defense. Fofana and Badiashile both look like quality signings, and even Koulibaly is starting to improve. If we can integrate Colwill we will have some fantastic options in central defense. And with Malo Gusto joining next season we also look to have solid options in both full back positions.

Beat Dortmund and we could be looking at the possibility of matching the heady days of October when we actually scored goals and won football matches.
