A lot of people forget about AVB, Lampard basically admitted to the senior players throwing him under the bus if I'm not mistaken

The old guard in general aswell.

How often do we hear "JT wouldn't let this happen" every time we have a bad run like he wasn't here during the 15/16 season?

Allegedly we’ve opened talks with Frank.

Not sure how I feel about this one, surely with Naagelsman and Enrique being out of work, and seemingly ready to go, why we can’t get either one in for Madrid.

How do you know both are ready to go? Nagelsmann literally got sacked last week. I wouldnt be surprised if both wanted to take it in the summer. By that time you dont have to deal with a load of want away players, you get a full preseason to get the players used to tactics.

If you come in now, it's likely a champions league exit to madrid, and a really tough run in whilst trying to manage and teach your tactics to players that wint even be here.

Various reports now that we have asked Lamps to take over as caretaker manager until the end of the season, and could be confirmed very soon.

Apparently that is why he was sitting in the directors box yesterday.

Welcome back Frank!

He did a great job as interim here and will look more attractive for jobs. After Everton stint I don’t think it’s such a bad move.

If it was just an interim I'd be happy with it, but knowing the board I have my doubts. They were willing to bet 20m + a 60m contract on a completely unproven manager like Potter, I could see them making another impulsive decison if we get a few decent results

I love Frank, but this is a joke. Even in interim capacity,  what does this accomplish?

Say we go on a run...what then?

It happened under Hiddink he made it clear it was a part time appointment despite being popular with the fans and players. If it did happen Lampard would know it was short term plus contracts for the new manager could be signed while Lampard is managing the team.

Yeah is a massive challange to make an positive impression. Real Madrid to get past, remaining PL games vs Arsenal, City, United and Brighton plus we cannot score goals.

Imagine they lose both times to Real and we get only 3 league wins from 10, they will already be facing an uphill task.

I think Frank would take it knowing that there is almost no choice of it becoming a permanent deal. If he happens to oversee unexpected success it would only help him in his search for a next job. It also buys the owners more time to assess the candidates for the long term position and ensure they are agreed on the right candidate.

Most likely we will not make it much further in the Champions League no matter who is in charge. We will still have issue scoring goals as we don't have a striker in the squad. So this would be a true interim position allowing the club to move on from the previous managerial team. Then the permanent replacement would arrive in the summer.

It all just feels too "rinse and repeat," to me.

All that said, I love Frank. I love Chelsea. I hope it works for the best!

Really dont get the outrage. Sounds like Bruno doesnt want it. What else are we meant to do short term?

I would be surprised if Potters staff did not all want out ASAP, Potter may well end up in a new PL job soon and want them with him.

Jody is a manager now so he wont be back with Frank but I reckon Ashley Cole, JT and Hilario will make up his backroom.

I think Frank would also get our fans roused up again too. He is still a popular figure at the bridge. That energy alone could make a difference in a few games.

Ole had success has an interim and look what happened, I hope the board make it clear that this is 100% temporary unless we win the Champions League

I could see the logic in the short term maybe.

Lampard's express yourself ball worked quite well while Sarri's training was still in the muscle memory of the players. For all of Potter's faults he had us defending well on the whole and we were starting to see some really good build up play in the first 2/3rd so hopefully we may see a similar sweetspot now. They'll probably still be some bits of Tuchel's training still there too so even better.

The problem is if he does have a succesful interim spell the crowd will pressure the board into making him permanent and I wouldn't be surprised if they do it, so when the inevitable 'muscle memory' from previous coaching wades off and we start playing like Stoke again (like we did post lockdown) we're back to the exact same problems of early 2021, with a toxic split fanbase of one's who can let sentiment go vs one's that can't and probably a section of the fanbase who can't or won't warm to the new boss because he's not Frank.

Even if some longshot we win he shouldn't get the job. Everton and our stint proved he is not up to par. I love him but he is an average manager.

Even if, not unless.

As amazing at it would be it's ultimately 5 games.

The draw is difficult, I don't see it happening, but hopefully the players respond and we see some passion and fight in the side again, and not just from Silva.

Chelsea have now asked Frank Lampard to take over as caretaker manager while they complete their search for a new permanent head coach. Expectation at the club is he will accept. As per @JacobSteinberg talks accelerated this afternoon. More on @TeleFootball #cfc

'Express yourself ball' 😂

This also means Mount is getting a 300k a week contract now doesn't it

No, but I would expect Frank makes sure he has no restrictions on player selections from the board.
