Chelsea players feel Bruno would have rather left Stamford Bridge, employing Lampard will give the atmosphere a boost. (@Matt_Law_DT) #CFC

I could see the logic in the short term maybe.

Lampard's express yourself ball worked quite well while Sarri's training was still in the muscle memory of the players. For all of Potter's faults he had us defending well on the whole and we were starting to see some really good build up play in the first 2/3rd so hopefully we may see a similar sweetspot now. They'll probably still be some bits or Tuchel's training still there too so even better.

The problem is if he does have a succesful interim spell the crowd will pressure the board into making him permanent and I wouldn't be surprised if they do it, so when the inevitable 'muscle memory' from previous coaching wades off and we start playing like Stoke again (like we did post lockdown) we're back to the exact same problems of early 2021, with a toxic split fanbase of one's who can let sentiment go vs one's that can't and probably a section of the fanbase who can't or won't warm to the new boss because he's not Frank.

I think we are a bit of a mess mate, I also dont think Lampard is a good enough manager to go on any sort of run that would persuade Boehly and co to keep him, and in my opinion I think the next manager will already be agreed to take over within the next couple of weeks.

As bad as things got under Lampard, we still scored more goals and took more points per game than under Potter. Short term I think it's the best outcome we could hope for, especially as Anthony Barry is on his out.

I would be surprised if Potters staff did not all want out ASAP, Potter may well end up in a new PL job soon and want them with him.

Jody is a manager now so he wont be back with Frank but I reckon Ashley Cole, JT and Hilario will make up his backroom.

Maybe Joe Edwards

Struggling to understand how this is a good idea.

We had more holes in defence and midfield than swiss cheese under Lampard

Expect us to be more open than a onlyfans “content creator”.

The last time we were leaking goals under Lampard I don’t see how that changes now.

We actually tightened up a bit once Silva and Mendy arrived.

Hopefully Fofana and Silva can carry us.

I hope Kante's ready to do the defensive work of a whole midfield, attacking 8s are back on the menu!

I like the idea of Frank coming in as interim

1. Popular figure round the club

2. nothing to win or lose in the league but at least we’ll give it a go with some attacking football

3. only thing really to play for is Champions League, Frank very experienced playing in CL and will give the club a lift

4. Suggests the board have their eye on a permanent manager who is already managing somewhere to the end of the season.

What I think people need to realise is that we aren't bringing Lampard in for his tactical genius. The fans will get behind him and the players will respect him which is the exact opposite of the situation we have faced this season and something we definitely wouldn't have had for the rest of the season under Bruno Potter.

As I said before ideally we would have already had Nagelsmann/Enrique willing to join straight away but it seems like our board want to be very careful about who takes us forward which I understand completely.

For me the order is Flick, Enrique, Pochettino, with Nagelsmann last.

So let's see what the board will decide. The last decisions where not so good, sacking Tuchel, hiring Potter, spending half of a billion on players and no proper 9. We can sit here all day and blame Havertz. It’s not and never was a nr 9.

It's not Potter to blame for the situation we're in, it's the board. You just can't make a decision to hire a manager with 1.36 ppm and give him so much credit because he is a nice person. They sacked everyone. We were not that bad that we needed a total change. We managed to 3rd place with illegal sanctions against us just because the owner was russian. Chelsea being a football club, not a fcking military facility. The players became unsettled, we were not allowed to sign new contracts or players, limitation on travel fees, etc.I have great respect for what the staff and the management have achieved in one of Chelsea's most difficult periods. They really made it seem like it wasn't that difficult. Now, we are nowhere. I don't trust the leadership. I don't care that we spend a lot of money on players. We don't see any progress compared to the last era, on the contrary.

Not sure if it's a good idea, but the season is gone anyway. At least when he coached Chelsea we had lost Hazard and he managed to finish fourth with us. We will see what happens.

As a caretaker it gives the team and fans a massive lift.

I don't believe we have much chance at all to win the CL, Bruno, Lamps, TT or RDM does not matter for me the draw is way too difficult.

I think this idea is so mad it might actually work.

Fans will by and large be happy and if Frank does well his stock rises as a manger again.

Just a shame we haven't got Tomori to smash in a 40 yard screamer at Wolves again.

Frank was great at some things - getting the team to score (albeit we had Tammy, Giroud, Pedro and Willian who were all goal scorers and better at scoring than our current crop). He was good with the youngsters (Mount, Abraham, James etc) and could get Mount firing again.

Franks main issues were two:

1. just couldnt sort the defence out and we were leaking goals for fun and always looked shakey even with Silva. This should not have happened considering we had Silva, Rudi, Azpi, Zouma and Tomori.

2. Falling out with players and completely shutting them out ie Rudi and Alonso when they had so much to contribute.

He’s a smart man and Im sure he would have learnt and it will be interesting to see how he does in the interim this time round. I wouldnt have him perm as he needs to prove himself ideally at a top club. But would have loved for him to be a success at Chelsea. I think hes a good appointment for the interim, nothing to lose, give the fans something to cheer about, always backing a club legend.

Frank Lampard to Chelsea makes a lot of sense. Popular appointment with most fans, buys time to undertake a proper recruitment process, relieves Bruno Saltor from an uncomfortable position and changes mood at Cobham. Big chance for Lampard to manufacture a #UCL fairy tale, and #CFC caretakers do have a knack of succeeding.

Frank?!? Man I didn’t think it would be Frank but — could just be me being blinded by it being Frank — but it could be a perfect interim type marriage for both parties.

normally I would be against it, but this season has been so sh*t so why tf not

I'm disappointed that more of you aren't excited about the prospect of a Kanté-Fernández-Havertz midfield. Finally, the one man who understood what Kai is and how to use him is back. Once he comes to his senses the latter name will be Mount, which is surely good planning anyway.

In addition to that, he can have all the awkward conversations with superfluous players without Luis Enrique/Nagelsmann having to deal with the consequences. All the emotional intelligence in the world cannot trump the lack of consequences of exiling (for example) Pulisic, knowing he won't be at the club after the summer.

On top of all of that he can do us all a parting favour by somehow incorporating Hudson-Odoi into our future plans. Also Evan Ferguson.
