So how much cash have we earned so far ?

Two wins @ $2m each , plus $7.5m for making it to round of 16, plus whatever the participation payment was (minimum $12.8m to $38.2m for UEFA clubs, determined by a ranking based on sporting and commercial criteria)

Worst case scenario $24.3m ; Best case $49.7m.

Who pays for actually getting there and staying there? By which I mean travel and accommodation. Can't be cheap with the travelling retinue.

Football 365 have estimated at this point in time Chelsea have pocketed £30.6 million.

Unlike other confederations who have been told what they get for participating FIFA haven’t published what each of the UEFA clubswill be getting. I did read somewhere, although I can’t find it now, but there was talk that the fee for European clubs may rise as the tournament progresses.

From this point on the prize money goes up steeply and whilst part of me wants Chelsea to exit asap you can’t ignore the impact of getting just to the semi finals which will be another £27million

That’s a really good question.

It seems that FIFA supply and I would assume pay for a “base camp” which was available 5 days prior to a clubs first game and is available till such time as they eliminated although it seems that clubs can turn them down and go their own way. My assumption is that if the clubs had to pay for the FIFA supplied won the rules would be worded differently

The Chelsea travelling party will be around 60-70 in number. It think that sponsors( Oman Air) will have covered in full or part the cost of international flights that’s if FIFA haven’t bourne the cost and internal travel will again probably be covered by FIFA.

We've basically earned a free Delap

From The BBC:

The Blues made just under $38m (£28m) for qualifying for the tournament.

They earned another $2m for each win in the group stage, beating LAFC and ES Tunis. They will also earn $7.5m when facing Benfica in the round of 16, which takes their total to $49.5m.

There is a further $13.1m on offer for reaching the quarter-final, $21m for the semi-final and $30m for reaching the final. A further $40m is reserved for the winner.

Not bad and more than I had thought.

Personally I'm enjoying this tournament and hope we manage to get in it again. Just got to win the Champions Leaue again............!

No they need to triple the ticket prices so we pay for their mistakes

I think there are designated competitor hotels likely arranged with fifa and the city as part of hosting. Example - in Atlanta Chelsea stayed at the Whitley (formerly The Ritz). My better half works opposite that so they all saw the team bus. PSG are in that same hotel now. I’m sure other cities have designated properties for comfort and security reasons.

Nice little read and brought me up to speed, not really followed. Clearly means a lot of the latin clubs. Might start to take some more interest now its the business end.

Weve earned enough to cover the signing of Delap with several million left over.

The money is quite spectacular wow...

estimates from various sources

£30 million for participating

£1.5 million x 2 for group stage wins

£6 million for round of 16

and counting

£10 for quarters

£16 for semis

£23 runner up

£30 Winner

so current tally is £39 million

and if we were to beat Benfica it goes to £49 million

wow.

apologies if ive repeated earlier posts.

Good. Making the final unmerited would give the sporting directors some unjustified satisfaction.

Potentially meeting City in the semis can also work for us as a real thermometer to where we are as a team this season in the Premier League, against a side that quickly wrapped up their deals for the next season. We can then build from there either being "fine as we are" or investing quickly for the players still available after CWC.

UEFA clubs get the base fee + additional percentage of broadcast/commercial revenue, since obviously they are the biggest drawcards
