Tbh it does look kind of shady from the outside in.

Infinite Athlete looks like a start up company that acquired another start up company in Tempus Ex Machina, and the club are saying they are providing a commercial sponsorship of £50m a year? Where is their funding sourced from?

Tempus Ex Machina merged with another company to form Infinite Athlete. We already had a deal with TEM for some sort of technical support. It all sounds a bit suss to me.

They have. That's the basis of the investigations into ownership funding disguised as sponsorship.

It's 2 fairly long standing companies that have merged, there's no start up involved.

Then this limbo should only be temporary I'd imagine until the Prem realizes there is no conflict of interest and this is a legitimate company.

Amazing when Newcastle are literally sponsoring themselves.

It's a tangled web. This is from an American site:

Infinite Athlete was only created a week before the potential Chelsea deal was announced and its turnover is estimated at just over £12m a year. It is also suspected Infinite has financial ties to Chelsea’s ownership group, albeit convoluted ties.

Infinite Athlete was rebranded as such after the recent merger of two other firms, Tempus Ex Machina and Biocore. One of Infinite’s major funders is investment firm Silver Lake, who also invest in a company called Fanatics, into which Chelsea’s co-owner Clearlake have invested hundreds of millions of dollars.

That sounds one-step removed but who knows?

all starting to get a bit embarrassing to be honest for a club our size. although still, for the PL to say it is dodgy when City and Newcastle sponsor themselves is a bit rich. also, Newcastle were allowed Sports Direct under Ashley

But not as a shirt sponsor.

ah fair enough. thought it was the shirt too.

either way, that Saudi events company sponsoring them now surely can't be any less connected than the Chelsea/Infinite Athlete links. they're just too scared to go after the Middle Eastern states vs the US investors.

either way, club our size should not be in this position - what a failure on the commercial side of the business!

It’s crazy, are we that much of a ‘has-been’ (hopefully only temporary) that no company wants to sponsor anymore?

Huge companies under Roman and now nobody wants to touch them!

Let's be fair, we were sponsored by Three when Roman left. That's not great. Lower than planned for revenue then as a brand that wasn't international.

We have managed to get 3 offers at or bigger than 3. Just happens to be that none of them are acceptable!

Man-City got away with it but I’d imagine the PL changed the regulations and tightened them up, either that, or the brown paper bags are heavier on City & Newcastle’s side.

Brings me back to this again….

Worst factory smell ever BTW 🤢 Needs a good washing before I put that on. Thankfully I have a gazillion other shirts to work out in. Should I want to.

You just lost me forever. Despite the disclaimer. That the thought even crossed your mind ...

Oh yes, in my mind I'm incredibly active, and once or twice a year I even do sporty things! That's usually right before I have a doctor's check-up so I can confirm I have an active lifestyle. Then I slump on my sofa again and watch My 600 Pound Life.
