Chelsea 23/24 Season Friendlies Match Thread

Featured Replies

This pre season will be unlike any other since the first Mourinho season.

It's basically a brand new team. The youngstesr are sure to get a run. I for one am looking forward to the games. If nothing else I hope to see porky Reece having dropped a few kg.

It's also Pochettino on show, as well as the players we will get to see the system. I don't think Irving Fischer invented the phrase, it was some scottish idjit but the famous, to me, financial economist wrote at the front of his book "coming events cast their shadows before them". And so, i think it is with pre season and the season proper. We will likely start like garbage but by xmas we could be looking like top 4 contenders.

I’m excited as hell, for some reason

Having moved 4 years ago to Australia.

You guys don't even know pain !

Especially last season. Staying up till 4-5-6 am to see Chelsea play live on work days.

While you know that they will bottle it over and over again.

As your Sunday is our very early Monday morning

So give us at least some friendlies. 😄

I guess I don't have to worry about staying up for European nights this year.

Can i really be arsed to stay up until 12:30am and go to work on 4 hours sleep for a game against a league 2 team. Sleep sounds the better option i think.

Sleep is 100% the sensible decision.

That said I'm likely going to watch at least the first half. I normally don't really bother with pre-season beyond some highlights, but I'm in need of a Chelsea fix.

Am a bit concerned that the Wrexham game could be a mess though, real danger that either they'll be so far beneath our level that it becomes a tremendous waste of time, or they'll treat a game against PL opposition like a cup final and kick lumps out of half our side.

Yeah as of now i'm choosing sleep, but i'm sure i'll at least watch kick off.

I just want to see what the new players are about. Probably the most excited i've been for Chelsea to get going since 2004.

Could probably do with one more winger full a full swap, is Moreira or Angelo travelling with the squad?

Also got Hall and Cucurella who i've missed out for now.

They both travel. Moreira has been marketed as if he is a member of the first team.

RIP Badi, Silva can fill in then just fancied a French defence and an English one. (i know Maatsen is Dutch but that's basically France anyway)

You take that back @RIP Mourinho, or I will never buy you an icecream :Connie_threaten:

James and Fofana have not travelled. One ill one injured.  Fofana is starting to look a liability as he is even injured in the close season. Has he ever really been fully fit since he joined, i am not sure.

4 young goalkeepers in the tour party to keep Kepa on his toes. Bettinelli is apparently injured and has not travelled.

Slonina, Cumming, Bergstrom and Beach.

Pochettino has also selected Maatsen, Humphreys and Gilchrist amongst the defenders, plus Mason Burstow in the forwards ! The new young Jamaican striker Richards has also travelled, but apparently only for training.
