I had assumed ach-ey-AM-pong, but the announcer called him ASH-um-pong.

Am I wrong in saying that when you consider our depth (and the fact the Champions League clubs will be in hell come Oct-Jan) that we should at minimum win 2 trophies this season?

Fair enough. Gusto isnt really second string but I get why he might have needed minutes tonight. 
I guess it just depends where your priorities lay. Long term I personally find it more important we manage to create a gateway from Cobham to the first team, but to do that you need to make some sacrifices. If you think this season only, I agree its more important to give minutes like tonight to the second string

 

Having said all that, I’m overall quite satisfied with how Maresca spread minutes around tonight even if I’d like Acheampong to start

Great to get so many young players on. That hasn't always been the case.

Have to admire Mudryk's commitment to gluing to the left touchline at all times, even to the point of trying to hand signal to usher Chilwell inside when we were out of possession.

Phil Foden could have learned a thing or two from this Mudryk performance during the Euros, where he was about as effective a left-winger as Keir Starmer.

TBH he hasn't looked anything special since he has come on. Not like Chilwell. Can't see Cucu getting a look in now.

I don't know about *should* but I'm definitely on board with *could* ... and with the Rodri injury being serious I don't think the PL is out of reach either ...
