Apparently that's the price we are willing to pay, whether Man Utd accept it is another matter though.

I've resigned to fact Winstanley really wants him and there's nothing we can do about it.

Like I said before as long as it's as well as Simmons rather than instead of Simmons it would be easier to live with.

I absolutely see his potential. At 19 years old he had 7 goals and 6 assists (fairly sure these stats are correct). The following season we all know the downward spiral all of United had and where they are at currently. Can’t fault a young one for not blossoming at United - it is a cesspool where talent goes to die, period.

I still suspect that this is all part of a plot to engineer player movement between the clubs. If not Jackson, I could see them throwing £35m plus Chilwell at them, as Luke Shaw is leaving.

If Man Utd get the Watkins deal over the line watch the Jackson to Villa, Rogers to Chelsea stories start mounting up.

Werner, Nkunku, both came from German league both flopped, what makes anyone think Gittens will be a success?

At least Garnacho has played here and had a brilliant first season, IF he comes i think he will start in front of Gittens, if he scores a couple and creates chances people will change their tune about him

I like George but I don't believe he is anything special at this age.

On the other hand though he does deserve a chance as reward for stepping in and doing the job for us last season.

Based on what though? He has a good output despite the limited minutes he has had, and let’s remember he just turned 19yrs.

One thing the club fails at is “platforming” its youth talent. Clubs like Liverpool, Utd, Arsenal & even City are brilliant at doing that. George doesn’t even have to be special, you just have to make the public believe and buy into the narrative that he is brilliant and you open up a market for him. Arsenal did it last season with Nwaneri & Lewis Skelly, played it so well the latter already has 2 England caps. Both players might end up being average; but if you place either on the market now, Arsenal will demand at least £50m. We will be lucky to get £10m for Tyrique.

Liverpool are doing a good job with Rio and will likely keep him on this season vs sending him on loan.

Don't see why we can't do the same with George.

Just by watching him in his limited mins in first team. I don't believe he excels in any particular thing, not got the lighting fast pace, dribbling isn't anything outstanding either and his passing is just okay. I will give him credit in that he knows how to strike a ball and he generally makes the right choice when on the ball, I think that alone will see him be a solid mid or lower prem player if all else goes well.

I agree we do a poor job in putting our own academy youth on display, generally preferring to go with whatever shiny new toy other clubs have platformed instead of trusting our own. I just don't think George would be the worse offender of this.

Like I said, I would keep him on merit as he deserves a chance with the team after some solid performances last season but if he was loaned out I would completely understand it.

Exactly. Do NOT want him. Do NOT want Garnacho. United paid 5 million quid for him and United do not want him. Just No to Garnacho. No. No. and more no.

It makes no sense to me to spend let’s say £40-£50m on basically a squad player. Use George. Chances are he’s only going to get a game in an emergency.

He did well when called upon last season. They will say let’s put him out on loan for his progression but it will be shop window while we pay millions for Gittens and Estevau of similar age.

This constant churning of players is only good for the agents.

Our attack needed an overhaul I agree but we have another 8/9/10 players maybe come the start of the season to bed into the squad.

That’s a whole team nearly, all have to learn the Maresca way which we’re constantly told takes time. Are we entering phase 1 again?

It’s hard because I like a lot of the business we are doing but it has to settle down for the sake of cohesion.

If we are to go ahead with this, knowing how desperate Utd are to rid themselves of him. A deal around 20/25 + add ons wouldn’t be the worst bit of business in the world.

I’m not convinced by George in his limited time & Gittens for me is going to be another Bundesliga flop.

They are putting this out there in the hope that they get a nibble for either Jackson or Nkunku, or possibly even Chilwell if Shaw is definitely leaving. As soon as there is no chance that United are going to buy any of ours, these rumours will drop and we will circle back on to Morgan Rogers, unless he signs on again with Villa in the meantime.

I like Roger’s, maybe not at the numbers being thrown around.

Again though let’s say we sign him, it’s just less game time for the others. All young all can play either side. All stifling one another. Palmer should have RW nailed down, by far his best position.

If you have a kid from the academy trying to break into the first team any minutes you get are really a bonus and you either grab them or you don’t. No expectations either way.

If your signing players for Millions on not crazy money but way more than any kid at cobham and you sell them on the club and ur project then they have to play.

I thought Enzo wanted a smaller squad to work with. I feel sometimes our SD’s can’t say no…. Kids in a candy shop. I’m saying this under the assumption that Simons is a done deal. Do we need anymore or just dip into the academy in an emergency?

Feels like another low risk/potential big upside kind of a deal. WinStewart are probably thinking that given his age, potential, relatively low wage and good resale value he's a good gamble to take. Looks like the last day of the window 25-30m move betting on United's desperation to unload him.
