Very rare that you'll get a transfer where the fans of the selling club don't want him to go and the fans of the buying club don't want him.

If I'm looking for a positive (other than annoying Man Utd fans) is that there's certainly talent there, and United are a club where you could put almost any player in their team and they'd look average to sh*t so who knows, put him in our team and he might look a lot better.

Oops, I read your post wrongly. I thought you wrote both fans don't want the player because Felix is an example of such player.

We don’t really need another young expensive winger. We need a striker who can challenge Jackson. Can someone inform the SD’s?

I'd like him but I'd much prefer we put our efforts and money into getting a decent striker and goalkeeper...

Honestly, IF we sign Garnacho when the side is still crying out for a proper keeper AND a decent No.9, then this will be the most ridiculous signing in our clubs history and boy, we have made plenty of questionable ones over the years.

It's possible that the board see him as a forward/striker, rather than a winger in the current system. Garnacho doesn't have a great dribbling style, he lacks close control and is often rushed in his touch so rarely keeps the ball close to his body, but he is also not particularly strong or large so cannot shield the ball physically either. The one attribute he does have is raw speed, but as we've seen with Mudryk that is pretty much useless at this level without one of the above too.

 

He is a high-energy player who could get a lot of goals if he focused on his finishing and running, but he hasn't showed that side of his game either really. 

 

I think it’s moot what the directors think if Maresca himself doesn’t see him as a striker in his own system. He’s just come out saying he’s not needed as they already have too many wingers. He’s even said George is fine with replacing Mudryk given the limited role.

And there lies the problem. You sign him against his advice and Maresca would give him the KDH, Felix treatment. Give George the mins till the summer, and upgrade the position.

Agree with this except the George bit. George is so undercooked its ridiculous and potentially damaging for him. He should go out on loan. I don't think he is good enough yet for a top competing Champ team as i don't think he'd get regular minutes. Similarly a lower Champ team may be demoralizing and he also might not get minutes. I would say an above average Champ side chasing a play off spot or a top League 1 side where he would get plenty of game time in a successful side which he would benefit from. I think this was the making of Maatsen in setting him up for the next phase of his career.

Yes i agree that we don't need Garnacho, but no i don't think George is ready  for PL football yet.

 

Hopefully the United fans keep chanting his name even louder than last night so he refuses to leave. This coupled with United holding for a big fee so we would walk away.

How did football change from the days when a manager/coach, would identify a player HE needs for the team and the club try and sign said player?

I was starting to have sympathy with Maresca for having these clowns pushing players on him until I remembered he keeps backing and playing Sanchez and Jackson so the sympathy was short lived.

 

 

Someone made an analogy the other day. You are at a restaurant and you can choose from 3 main courses. Steak, Lobster, or Dog sh*t. We will all choose the steak or lobster, but why the f**k is dog sh*t even an option?

 

The fact Garnacho is actually an option for these co-directors has permanently tarnished any remaining dignity they have left.

- Manchester United are 13th and don't want Garnacho.

- Their own fans hate Garnacho.

- Maresca has publicly said he doesn't want Garnacho.

 

The co-directors have shown they can't be trusted and they don't know what they are doing. This month alone reflects their tenure here so far. I don't trust them to lead this club for the better. They are deliberately self sabotaging. They are merely very bad scouts playing sporting director. 

Haven’t been following the saga but this seems to have Beavis and Butthead all over it.

As for their fans, you notice the type of supporter who backs Garnacho, and the ones smiling like a cheshire cat at the idea of us taking him off their books and fuelling an Amorim rebuild are silently happy. Whereas, the very obvious ‘highlight’ reel /club merch fans seem to rate him. The ‘in-betweeners ’ are just numb from years of mediocrity, they hold on, also pride involved.
