Our diabolical directors..

A 3/4m bid for Pienaar is peanuts, he was coming in as a backup at best, we were never that serious about him and if we were we would have got him.

Thats wasnt what this conversation was about, but if you want to continue moving goal posts it still doesnt matter.

That's the bit of the phenomenal strategy by our phenomenal directors that gets conveniently overlooked. The strategy of rounding up as much of the blossoming young talent through Europe and South America, to then develop and for those that don't make it all the way through to the first team, to then sell for big bucks and make a profit of these lads. The problem is who is going to buy these players when the whole of Europe is ether bust or just doesn't have the same level of financing.

We can also look at Newcastle, £70m for Wotermade. If he's not a success, they won't even recoup half of that money. Same for Wirtz at Liverpool, if he continues to struggle like he has been, then that is a really expensive mistake.

It's not like the past when we had Torres, we could get some of that money back through loan deals. But you're not going to get £70m back by moving a player around on loan.

Agree with everything you said except the last part. Clubs can still afford 20-30m signings which would bring us great profits. Clubs arent as dire as they make it seem, its a negotiation tactics to make it appear so. Look at AC Milan as an example.

I'm not moving goalposts, I'm being real. We never lost out to Tottenham on players. If you're going to count Pienaar, Llorente and others, then you're reaching because the interest just wasn't the same. Those players would be squad fillers at Chelsea, not regular starters. When it comes to trying to sign players that both clubs are looking to significantly improve their squads with, we never lose to them, until now.

  1. It could also mean we were never really interested and was only using his potential acquisition as a bargaining tool to lower Garnacho's price. Vice versa.

It was always a bit strange that we were looking for two further left-sided attackers/wingers when we had already signed Gittens.

Possibly, however I do doubt that, since there is a lot of credible reports that say we agreed personal terms. The same was true with Kudus, but we have to sell to buy.

I think we are one short unless we keep Jackson though. No striker even on the bench at West Ham with Pedro covering the 10. Maybe with Ganacho amd Gittens playing wide, Estavao could play centrally and one of Delap starts on the bench.

Long season, just hope we dont get too many injuries.

I hope they pull something out soonish because we extra depth, especially if Palmer is out for a sustained period. We have CL football now and we need a good enough team to compete in that competition as possible.

Okay sheep, have your own opinion for once. Go on, spout the same garbage daddy UB gave you 😂

I like Sconnie.

Who else can we even sell, and to whom? Nobody seems to have the money across Europe, even Bayern who are one of the biggest clubs in Europe. I can't see us selling Jackson, which is why I think the Simons deal was held up.

Jackson - loan

T.George - Roma

Disasi - Bournemouth

Sterling/Chilwell - loans

Our squad is pretty bloated (still), we have enough players.

J. Pedro

Delap

Gittens

Hato

Sarr

Garnacho

Outside of J. Pedro, this is a pretty average window. We went in knowing we needed an elite CB, a GK, strikers and a serious option on the wings.

Striker is the only position we strengthened and even Delap will need time to adjust to a top team.

We had a pretty big hard on for Aurier and he still went spurs.

We never bid for Xavi Simons, for Pienaar we actually did and he chose spurs. No point arguing about this because the initial point was that we've never lost to Spurs for a player was untrue. We can agree to disagree and not continue the pointless argument.

JP & Delap are upgrades on what we had last season (Nkunku & Wacko)

Hato should be a very good signing if his tape is anything to go by, it’ll just be waiting for the oppprtunity in that regard.

Garnacho will either explode into the player he should become or disappear off to Saudi in 2 years, that’s a gamble a la Felix, hopefully this one pays off.

Sarr is money laundering.

Gittens is just perplexing, astronomical fee, terribly negotiated for a player that is currently our 4th best option at the position. Terrible signing.

Also you’re a Xenophobe.

Who? AC Milan have paid for Nkunku and is their marquee signing. You and i know that he is a 70m player in this market and that we are shifting him for that price because of optics from his performances here, amortisation and our need to get his wages out of our structure. There is no way AC Milan are paying 25m for players like Dewsbury-Hall or Veiga. The margins are going to be so fine on half of these kids that we have bought.

Go check out Deivid Washington's profile and stats, then reconcile that to the €20m we paid for him. The most we are going to make on this lad is €5m - €10m at this rate and what isn't taken into the account is that the aggregated total of all of these punts end up an amortisation millstone around our necks.

Agree! We have spent around £240m, the Garnacho transfer brings it close to £290m and I struggling to see any quality. Granted Pedro has looked very sublime, but it all feels depth signings for CL football. For that amount of money you would expect 2-3 quality signings and still have change for 2 depth players, but we paid £55m for Gittens!

Who looking at so far, appears to be, at best, back up for Mudryk...and he's bleeding banned.

Theres another thread for the complaints, please do carry on to there if you just want to argue. This thread should not be triggering anyone, you know exactly what the thread is about so arguing here you are coming in for the sake of argument.

I believe we have had a great window so far and our portfolio management has been sublime while making the squad stronger. Missing out on one player has sent people on a frenzy, it’s a dopamine fiend frenzy in here at the moment.

We will always buy players to flip. This is the MODEL post the billions of Roman Abramovich money. How are fans still failing to understand this? We just broke the record for most money being brought in by a club, a RECORD. Leave the SDs do their job, this is the model we have implemented.

TLDR WARNING: WE WILL ALWAYS BUY PLAYERS IN MIND FOR PROFIT. NOT EVERYONE IS FOR THE LONG TERM.

Edited by Clown Lake

Reminder this thread still exists for the people who have a strong dislike for what we are currently doing with our model.

Cool, keep the opinion on here then. Every thread on this forum is of people moaning about the same topic, no wonder good people like Kev and Terraloon have left.

Shouldn't this be in your new shiny Financial thread ?

Yes, this is what brought that idea. Look at the time of creation and post.

I take back what I said earlier, the creation of this topic was perfectly timed. Everything that has happened in the past 24 hours proves, without a shred of doubt, that these clowns need to go.

Nah 6 year extension.
