Our diabolical directors..

Featured Replies

Not had a moan on here for a while, not had to, things have been looking a bit positive.

Then we lose out on Xavi to spurs. Now this could mean a few things.

  1. We just didn't want him, we have other targets that we think will be better.

  2. Our financial restrictions are stopping us from getting the deal done, and instead the player has just f**king spurs.

  3. The player just preferred Spurs.

So if its 1, then lets see what plays out before the window shuts, realistically probably only Fermin that would justify letting Xavi going to Spurs, not been linked with anyone else, but possibly someone left field like Mora, Yildiz, or Paz?

If its 2, then how on earth have these sporting directors been given a massive extension and probable pay rise? Can't even keep to a budget and build a title challenging squad for under a £1B, and we have spent our money on Neto over Olise, Gittens over Kudus, and Garnacho over Simons. Poor choices and a worrying trend that we seem to miss out on that level of experience player, that is surely what should be the corner ston of the project.

If its 3, then all hope is gone.

Interesting few days, I wonder how much we fell short on ffp to be hit with these restrictions? Would a front of shirt sponsor for last 2 seasons and no Deivid Washington been enough to fend off Uefa...

Xavi Simons (winger/CAM) - 178 games / 65 goals / 53 assists. Available for 70M.

Jamie Gittens (winger) - 131 games / 29 goals / 19 assists. Available for 56M.

Garnacho (winger) - 198 games / 49 goals / 32 assists. Available for 40M.

If you already had Neto, Estevao, Palmer, J.Pedro, T.George, Paez, Quenda (soon). Which signing would you prioritise?

While I'm no fan of the signings, we lost Mudyrk and Sancho so the priority has been left wingers so we bought them. Another attacker/10 seems like less of a priority hence leaving Simons till last. Now there's possibly Fermin who's become available that they may feel is a better option now to Simons?

Is that a touch line winger or a left forward position like Palmer is on the right? Id love for Simons, Palmer and Estevao all to rotate across the front in a fluid attack, but maybe Enzo wants proper wingers oppose to wide forwards?

We should have signed some then

We weren't ever that interested in any of these mid players, nowhere near as much as we were with Simon's. We agreed personal terms weeks ago.

What was the hold up when it came to making an official bid? Oh wait, busy raising funds because they spent a stupid amount of money which got us a big fine from UEFA, and thinking clubs were stupid enough to pay 80m for Jackson.

Let's not forget the tunnel vision when it comes to Garnacho.

Even with all of these sales, we didn't have the money to put in a bid for Simon's until it was too late.

They f**ked up with this one.

False, we actually both bid for Pienaar around 3/4m and he chose Spurs. We never even bid for Xavi.

You’re all freaking out over Simons… we are world Champions.

True. It doesn't matter about anything because we're World Champions. 😂

It doesnt. We are freaking out over Palmers backup. Either give Estevao more gametime in his preferred position or move on to someone else…. We never even bid for him lol

Palmer's backup? I thought we were going to be the most lethal team in the world with both of them lol?

flip flop

I don't see who else we sign now. They have focused so much attention on Garnacho. The problem is, are the club serious about challenging for big trophies? We need to be careful here because our better players aren't going to continue with patience if we aren't challenging for the big trophies. Why are we spending so much money on average or just above average players, when what we need is top class. Missed out on Olise was such a sh*t decision. So much money spent and we are still not considered as title contenders by the media.

We need outgoings before any more signings, if we need any at all.

Gittens and Garnacho for me are more closer to old school wingers howbeit Inverted wingers to Simons who plays more in the pocket finding space around the box similar to Palmer. Think Simons like the Fermin rumours are the number 10 Nkunku replacements. I don't think the idea was to play Simons regularly on the left. Id prefer Fermin anyway and probably so do Our Phenomenal Directors!

Neither even get into our starting XI

With Garnacho coming in, Xavi would definitely be in the middle now. He would be on the LW there if we had Gittens and Xavi as the options.

He chose Spurs, leave him be there at that pigsty now. What could have been is irrelevant now.

Hes just one of those social media f**kwits who spin around and around constantly, you know, the ones we love to laugh at.

Why anyone even bothers with him is beyond me.

A 3/4m bid for Pienaar is peanuts, he was coming in as a backup at best, we were never that serious about him and if we were we would have got him.

Who else can we even sell, and to whom? Nobody seems to have the money across Europe, even Bayern who are one of the biggest clubs in Europe. I can't see us selling Jackson, which is why I think the Simons deal was held up.

I do think the Premier League is in a bit of trouble in some ways. Compared to other leagues, there is so much more money pumped into it. It means that even the mid table teams can outbid some big name European teams. With all of this money, the league can hoover up the talent with massive bids. The problem is that we also need to sell high too, but the rest of Europe just doesn't have the money to do it.

  1. It could also mean we were never really interested and was only using his potential acquisition as a bargaining tool to lower Garnacho's price. Vice versa.

It was always a bit strange that we were looking for two further left-sided attackers/wingers when we had already signed Gittens.

I was shocked that Milan were able to cough up money for Nkunku. I think we got lucky with them because they'd sold players, but if not for that extra money they had, we would still have Nkunku I would imagine. The same for Felix. We were helped out massively by the Saudis. We've been fortunate in this window to make those sales, but this is coming back to bite us in the ass because we've overpaid for players or bought duds, then selling them on is a struggle. What happens to Sterling and Chilwell if they aren't sold?

That's the bit of the phenomenal strategy by our phenomenal directors that gets conveniently overlooked. The strategy of rounding up as much of the blossoming young talent through Europe and South America, to then develop and for those that don't make it all the way through to the first team, to then sell for big bucks and make a profit of these lads. The problem is who is going to buy these players when the whole of Europe is ether bust or just doesn't have the same level of financing.
