I like him and think he’d be a good signing, my main worry is that we’ll pull out over the price and go for Garnacho instead.

Same. Doubt the club will want to pay that much given he has 2 years remaining, and Leipzig will certainly want to make a profit at least.

I reckon Leipzig are hoping the Diaz deal falls through and Bayern come in for Simons.

Yep, I think they paid £60m including bonuses earlier this year so I'd be surprised if they let him go for much less than the reported £60m asking price.

I think I'd rather keep Jackson than swap for Ganarcho lol.

While Garnarcho on his day is a good player, I think his attitude and social media posts around the time of the Europa Cup final set off some serious alarm bells about him.

Sounds like it’s getting there.

“Understand Chelsea and RB Leipzig are now in advanced talks for Xavi Simons.

Negotiations club to club progressing well, still work to do but heading positive direction.

Xavi, keen on Chelsea project with personal terms talks also advanced.”

Worries me that Ornstein has not mentioned anything about Xavi or Hato. Unless I have missed it, I’d love if someone has seen anything on the Athletic’s end.

Must be some way to go in negotiations because he’s playing today for RB Leipzig.

Gives me hope that Gittens also played for Dortmund before his move, however I am slightly more worried.

Yeah, you just don't know, sometimes they play them to hurry you up in the negotiations and sometimes they feel it's not that close to a transfer so they probably think why not play him while he's still our player as it stands.

My main concern really is pulling out of this deal and going for Garnacho instead because it saves money.

My hope with us not going for Garnacho is that personalities seem to be a factor when we choose to buy players. I might be forgetting someone but we dont appear to have any troublemakers in the squad. Joao Pedro has a bit of history, however those tensions did arise due to him checking out completely and pushing for a move (correct me if I am wrong if we have any Brighton fans on here).

I have this exact same strange feeling. For some reason, I believe Garnacho is incredibly highly rated by the sporting directors and they will want to wait until later in the window to get a discounted price.

Garnacho seems to have no offers so far and training with their bomb squad, I feel that the more this drags on, the more he becomes frustrated and also the club get a bit desperate because they need the money. Also it would be stupid for him to go back to work for Amorim after all that has happened. Amorim basically humiliated him in every possible way.

Apparently Paul Winstanley is the big fan of Garnacho, so that's him favoring Garnacho and the other board members will have to convince him Simons is a better talent than Garnacho.

If the Simons deal isn't wrapped up in the next week I feel we'll pull out, there's already stories of Bayern and Arsenal waiting in the wings for the slightest encouragement to go in for him.

We need to get a move on IMO.

We still have this guy

Shades of Conte with Costa the way Amorim is dealing with certain players.

Surely he is devaluing them when he leaves them no way back.

The board must be pissed. Typical Utd will let this man build his team for his formation/tactics and then sack him.

Call me old fashioned but as our board thought of asking Enzo who he prefers rather than Winstanly?

Pointless buying another player he has no intention of picking.

If he needs to be convinced that Simons is better than Garnacho it's no wonder we've signed some of the toss we have.

Think I’d started to get swayed by his YouTube highlights but this video brought me right back to my original opinion of nothing special.

Still 2 assists in an average performance is a bonus.

Yes 2 assists are nice, but we can’t take anything seriously from friendlies, especially very early ones. The players are building up fitness at this point.
