Chelsea vs Benfica SL (UCL) Tuesday 30th September 20:00 GMT

European football, midweek, under the lights at Stamford Bridge, once a dream scenario for me.

Gawd knows what we are gonna get on Tuesday. 🙄

Jose is likely to make mugs of us all.

Going to be more crowd cheering from Jose greeting the home fans than from our own performance.

Our performances have been sh*t all season, bar West Ham, why should they be cheered?

The return of Jose

If our play comes even close to resembling the last two games, I can easily see a situation where major sections of the crowd start chanting Mourinho's name. Part of me wouldn't even mind it, I think. How embarrassing f9t this manager, to be at home and your own fans are chanting the name of the opposition manager.

Sl Benfica GIF by Canterbury Basketball Academy

Oh, great, according to the gif we're playing their U18 feminine Basketball team, so Maresca can't lose against 5 young women, can he?

Coco would be really proud of you Ax, I’ll sort it, but I might leave it for the comedy!

Nah leave it in, is a good one.

Now how that was one of the first gifs to pop up when I typed in benfica is a good question lol.

Probably a must win game if we want to make it into the knockout stages of the Champions league. Certainly a must not lose

Not losing games rather than trying to win them is the Maresca way, so I expect a VERY dull game.

Are Caicedo and Joao Pedro out? Have heard it speculated we are not using Guiu as Maresca does not rate him so we want to loan him in January and cannot use him as he would be blocked from going anyone other than Sunderland as he would have played for 2 clubs already.

What a farce if that is true.

So we probably will see this team tomorrow then.

I’m just not sure how we’ve gone from having the best in depth squad in the league at start of last season to a squad that’s looking bare bones. Compare the bench, one year apart.

27th September 2024 - Neto, Mudryk, Nkunku, Veiga, Lavia, Disasi, Tosin, J.Felix, Jorgensen

27th September 2025 - Badiashile, Gusto, Acheampong, Lavia, Gittens, George, Guiu, Garnacho, Jorgensen

We are stagnating.

That would be our "amazing" directors.

Welcome back Jose! Forever my favourite manager.

"I will always be a Blue. I am part of their history. They are part of my history. I helped them to become a bigger Chelsea. And they helped me to become a bigger Jose. When I say I am not a Blue, I am only speaking about the job I have to do tomorrow."

'Always a Blue' - Jose Mourinho's affection for Chelsea

Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says he "will always be a Blue" - but still hopes to beat them when his Benfica side play at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Great opportunity to show the board the discontent amongst fans.

90 solid minutes of ‘Jose Mourinho’ & ‘Roman Abramovich’ from the home support should send the message.

Obviously however due to pricing/location our home atmosphere is pitiful and this won’t happen so we’ll be treated to another wasted season of the worst football known to man
