2 reasons I didn’t want LR was his lack of credentials and experience for the job and 2 the style of play.

He’s another over complicated coach with inverted full backs and sweeper keeper etc.

I wanted us to do what Utd have done. Got in JT. Let him have a few months at it with different ideas. Simple things like playing players in their best positions, regularly, simple fast paced attacking football. No messing about at the back etc etc.

I looked at the team selected and thought what more can LR do with our squad but he has to get them playing to their strengths not his system.

Just because Carrick is doing well at Utd, doesn't mean JT would do the same with us.

Plus, MU ownership unlike BlueCo do not consider signing anyone over 21 a crime against humanity, they just sign whoever they need and can afford. That's why they can actually rely on players either in their prime (Mbeumo, Cunha etc) or veterans (Bruno, Casemiro, Maguire etc) to deliver and not just appeal to young talent who tend to be inconsistent. In other words they have a healthy mix of players of different ages, which is a case in every other club, except Chelsea which is run by a bunch of imbeciles.

I think Dermot Gallagher claimed today that this should have been ruled as a penalty by VAR.

While this is a clear error from refs/VAR, didn't we score from the resulting corner? So it unlikely affected the overall score.

They did it all game every single corner we had NINE!!!!

Yes. I agree. Their conduct on set pieces is ridiculous. I just meant that specific incident got the most attention as it was particularly blatant. No doubt Premier League will let Arsenal win this season and then change the rules.

I imagine UEFA refs won't be as easy going.

But it did save Rice from a yellow card that would definitely have impacted on him for the rest of the game.

Given we only have 10 games left then one of those options is already off the table ;).

I think 8 wins from last 10 would be pretty incredible looking at the remaining games. We'd do well to get 65 points. Hard to know how many points will be needed for 5th place finish. Our best hope would be to reel in Villa, but that really needs to start with us winning there this week.

Which one is off the table mate? The 8 wins from 10 games or 7 wins, 3 draws and 0 losses out of 10? ;)

I mean realistically we won't do either but still ;)

I’m not saying he would have won the amount Carrick has but he would have galvanised the club in a way LR can’t.

He would have had immediate respect from the players in A way LR can’t.

And I doubt he would have us playing 15 passes to get it out our box. Totally agree about our squad make up though nothing LR can do about that except play to their strengths and keep it away from Sanchez maybe.

Not played inverted full backs since he got here

He's already on his way to being bombed as he has spoken out. He wouldn't last a month in this environment, in fact I'm surprised he has taken it for this long even in his current role.

Instead he’s playing Sanchez as a third CB.

Another myth, Sanchez just sh*t the bed against arsenal like usual.

Loss to Villa under Maresca v loss to Arsenal this weekend. He's not being asked to play in any position he isn't used to.

He's going long a lot more now, its the weird bait that's his issue.

He had been going longer but on the weekend he was playing out. Or trying to. It had to be under orders. It's not his go. You can see the nerves. And they undermine the rest of his game.

It's not a myth, he's playing way more advanced than under Maresca, you like your stats but you don't seem to watch the games, or didn't you see him almost give away the ball outside the box to an Arsenal player? He's being used as a CB to play out from the back by LR, other thing is that you don't want to criticise LR, but that's your problem.

IS IT NOT TIME THE SO CALLED "SET PIECE COACH " IS QUESTIONED AS TO WHAT HE ACTUALLY DOES

EVERY CORNER IS THE SAME, ONE PLAYER STANDS 10 YARDS AWAY AT A 35 DEGREE ANGLE AND ANOTHER STANDS 5 YARDS AWAY DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF HIM, THEN THE TAKER RAISES HIS ARM AND THE TWO PLAYERS THEN RUN AWAY AND THE BALL IS PUT 90% OF THE TIME TO THE FRONT POST

IM SURE WE DONT NEED A SET PIECE COACH FOR THIS, OTHER TEAMS COME UP WITH DIFFERENT THINGS, MAN UTD SCORED WITH A GOAL FROM A CORNER 2 WEEKS AGO BY MBUEMO, WHEN IT WAS PLAYED IN AND PASSED BACK TO HIM TO SHOOT, LIKEWISE THERE WAS A GOAL AT THE WEEKEND SAME SORT OF THING

SAME AS THE DEFENDING AT THE WEEKEND, IN THE CUP SECOND LEG WE FOXED ARSENAL BY PUTTING 3 PLAYERS UP THE PITCH, WHY NOT PUT OUR 4 SMALLEST PLAYERS OUT OF THE PENALTY AREA, THIS CREATES A LOT OF SPACE ASTHE OPPOSING TEAM WILL PUT 5 BACK, THINK OF IT LIKE THIS WHEN AN ATTACKER GETS TO THE BYLINE AND CROSSES THE BALL THE GK NORMALLY WOULD TRY AND COME AND PUNCH OR CATCH THE BALL AS THERE ISNT MORE THEN 3 ATTACKERS TRYING TO HEAD THE BALL, AS LONG AS THE DEFENDERS ARE MARKING THEIR MAN THEN THERE IS NO REASON (UNLESS THE GK IS CLUELESS) THAT HE FALLS ON THE FLOOR OR GETS BLOCKED OFF

I guess the heatmap of the player must be a lie. He's not doing anything now that he wasn't doing under Maresca, he's just had more high profile brainfarts.

Last 3 games under Maresca:

image.png

Newcastle: 43 passes attempted.

Villa: 31 passes attempted.

Bournemouth: 45 passes attempted.

Last 3 games under Rosenior:

image.png

Leeds: 42 passes attempted.

Burnley: 40 passes attempted.

Arsenal: 52 passes attempted.

Criticise all you want, but at least don't make things up. We don't play inverted full backs anymore and to date Sanchez isn't being asked to do anything different. He's operating in the same areas and making the same volume of passes. His f**k ups are just more noticed at the moment because people are looking for anything to criticise.

Liam Rosenior: "The way I work with goalkeepers – I don’t have an outright number one. I want competition in every area, and Filip has been waiting very patiently for his chance and I’ve given it to him this evening. Filip has been very good in training."

How did we ever end up with our last few managers after Tuchel?
