Not an own goal, just a Lampard-style deflection.

A Lampard style-deflection? Frank didn't even play tonight and people are down on him!

you'd expect city to win, we were set to loose the game right till the last minute where everything changed.
getting a point out of a game where we did not have Lampard, Ramires, Terry and also the red card for ashley cole.. thats not a bad result!
a point is much better than going down 3 pts even further.

Mata and Sturridge both have been disappointing. Sturridge is doing nothing at all what a winger is supposed to do.
he has hardly got us any sort of assist's the entire season. neither is he involved in the creation of goals.
yes he has scored goals but we want him to create more chances for others as well and not be selfish the entire time, in this match particularly i could hardly see Mata or Sturridge get involved.

Malouda is useless, its like playing a man down. from no angle does it seem that he is trying his best or putting in efforts.

we cannot blame Torres for not scoring, you actually expect him to score with the midfield playing like this? with no Lampard and Ramires to get the ball ahead?

Well in Sturridge's defense, he is playing out of position... Think he is more fitted into being the loan man up top. But I do admit he shone a bit brightly before the injury and now has hit a bit of a rough patch. We shall see how this season winds up but the schedule isn't going to get any easier with United, Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal, and City. And I will even go as far and say Everton, Newcastle, Villa will all give us fits as well... More than likely going to drop a lot of points IF we continue down this path...

Disappointing result, but it could have been worse I suppose.

I know he may not have the complete quality that we're looking for, but a player like Nathan Dyer is one we're crying out for...

To be honest, the result isn't that bad, Swansea are playing some great football, it's just the lack
of effort we show time and time again.

All I want to see is a bit of passion.

I don't think we'll be hearing "not Chelsea quality" for a while.

I don't really know why people are so dissapointed with a point last night. Whilst I admit it seems it might be papering over the cracks a little, ie no natural width, lack of creativity in midfield etc it is still a hard earned point at a very tricky away ground where ONLY Man united have won this season. Arsenal got played off the park at lost at Swansea, we contested an even draw.

I don't know why people are saying we didn't deserve it either, whilst Swansea played brilliantly in the first half we dominated the second and eventually got the reward. And all this missing Terry, Lampard, Drogba, Ramires etc. Will take it myself...

Oh and Essien got 30 mins under his belt and looked good, got to start on Sunday for me...

without reading over all the pages from last night and prob the hysterics from the usual "we were sh*t"match forum mob........ but...... every week we complain about teams parking the bus and we cannot break them down....Swansea didn't park the bus, they took us for the fcukn tour 1st half...even in the 2nd half when we stepped it up and tried to match them with effort, they were far more composed, 1 touch passing and give and goes........what we are supposed to be trying to establish in the team... our build up was the same methodical 3 touch then pass sideways back and forth........can't blame torres for not running past defenders, he knows the pass will not be made until we are 20 -30 yds from goal and then only when he's surrounded....what the fcuk did we try in Majorca with mini 1 touch games???? it was a good point to earn (steal) esp after way we started, hard luck Swansea and Brendan..... 2nd point...Gibson shoots and it deflects past Harte---Gibsons goal Bosman shoots and it deflects past Vorn and it a lucky own goal????? equal standards applied yet again............. lastly on my stream last night that fcukn Andy anti-Chelsea c**t Townsend done my fcukn head in........he never give us any credit all night and constantly criticisced us and AVB.. Rant over for now......prob be back on Monday!

I have to say I had this game down as a loss before it started, was still feeling gutted at the end obviously, so the last dying seconds, spawny equaliser put me in a right good mood last night..Liverpool winning took the gloss off it mind..

What quality?

Well if they're not quality, why did we pay so much for them?

Real lack of desire and effort, it really is as simple as that.

If it where me Malouda would never play for me again, Bossingwa, cole and torres on the bench. Ashley is become quite lazy.
Betrand, Lukaku to start, recall kakuta and stick him out on the wing. He is 20 years old, has been with us for some time now, if he's not good enough now he wont be.

I have had probably the worst 18 months i could so have had to develop a bit of a sence of humor about these things, yesterday tested even that

It's amazing we never have more 3-4 players in good form at any stage this season. Our shooting percentage has got to be the worst in the league, 3/16? I wonder whether Torres is under instruction to play the way he has for the last 4-5 matches, or he has given up on scoring all together, and just try to make it up with work rate and some creativity. I can't see the man score another goal this season with the way he's been playing and our slow motion passing game. Ashley Cole got sent off is probably the best thing happened to us this season, now he finally get a rest, and the manager have to come up with an alternative on the left back.

whats the betting it'll be
Bos, Bran, cahill & Luiz as back 4 for Sunday!

After listening on the radio it appears no real positives to take forward other than Luiz? It may have been tiredness but I didn't stay up to watch on MOTD, first few matches only, and then failed to tape it on CTV... Not a surprise perhaps and an indicator of uninspiring performance.

Is Terry likely to be missing again? I assumed he'd be back on Sunday and that for Cahill the wait will go on. I wonder if Cahill is already wondering if he made the right move in as far as his chances of being invoved in the European Championships is concerned.

We were rubbish no two ways about it, the only players who done ok was Cech & possibly Luiz but he gave the ball & fouls away too much trying to hard to play his way out of defence & losing the ball which could have cost us, the rest were terrible with quite a few of em not interested, Malouda & Torres especially.

We cant score look at our lack of goals in recent weeks our past few results, say since the City game.

City 2 goals(1 pen)
1 goal v Wigan, Spurs, Fulham, Villa.
2 v Wolves,
4 v Portsmouth
1 v Sunderland(Lamps shin but they all count)
0 at Norwich
& 1 at QPR(dodgy pen)
Swansea og.

Unless Lampard or Mata score we struggle, Sturridge isnt the same player at the mo, Drogba & Kalou still away & Anelka sold, Lukaku unproven yet, so f**k knows where our goals will come v Utd, can anyone really see us scoring two if they take the lead? i cant.

2 points now from a possible 9 v promoted clubs away this season aint good enough & it took an og to actually get a goal v the 3 promoted sides as well.

Good trip apart from the football(well the 90 mins the last min was good lol!
.
Fair play to Swansea, now taken 5 points of us y*ds & the gooners but we really should have played a whole lot better.

Worth pointing out that 2 of the 3 promoted sides are having good seasons and seem to be a safe bet to stay up. Norwich in particular are doing very well. A draw away to those clubs is no disgrace.

I earnestly hope Mata is taking the same shooting drills are Torres. Every match he seems to find a good position but his shot is wild, usually over the bar. If he could be a bit more accurate, the mood around here would be dramatically different.

Davey Baby – for your perusal –
My observations
First half – where was Malouda? Missing in action apart from the line up I didn’t even know he was on the pitch.
Poor decision making by both Sturridge and Mata during the half, there were far better options for them than the shots they took; also long range low % shots by midfield players when other players were open. Torres chasing shadows all of the first half and having to go wide again to get anything; ran his balls off between the two centre halves for nothing except to expend energy. The rest of the team sat deep not squeezing the play. The half was not as bad as I believed though, not pressing allowing Swansea to play. Merelies woeful passing again gave the ball away far to many time. During 2 purposeful attacks only 2 CFC players in the box 9 Swansea players. Woeful shocking efforts at crossing the ball from corners and free kicks. Little or no movement off the ball. Poor header by Bossy to clear the all landing at Sinclairs’ feet, although apart from that and the goal line clearance mayhem, Swansea didn’t really create much despite their possession.
2nd half – a lot better squeezing the play thereby not allowing Swansea time on the ball. Moving the ball quicker, but still not enough movement to give defences a headache. Torres once again having to go wide to come or come back and get the ball in order to try and get into the game; not defending him but he spent more time between the half way line and the 18yd box than he actually spent in the box especially when Lukaku came on. Again when he did find some space others once again elected to have a wasteful shot or make a woeful pass. He isn't going to score anytime soon while we are playing like this. His first touch still needs work. Again as a team sometimes wasteful in possession but not as bad as the first half; Bossy a lot better this half, I thought we deserved a goal in the second half but it was gut wrenching for Swansea to be scored upon in that manner.
Didn’t see much jumping up and down on the touchline by AVB this game, he looked rather subdued. Is the pressure beginning to take its toll? Despite this result I do think we will see a different team on Sunday that just might take 3 points from Utd. Wouldn’t mind seeing Luiz playing at RWB….
