Yup, a small crumb of comfort to know that Roman made this happen to `reach our goals` well we are doing really well at that now aren`t we... Out of the FA cup, maybe out of the Europa on Thursday and possibly no Champions League next year. Great job Roman and Board. Great job Players too.

Have to agree with the last part, unless United get stuffed tonight in a soul draining encounter. Either way you look at the game against City and think this one could be more of the same, except United are better in front of goal so could be a lot more punishing. With Atletico out it looks to me if Spurs, (yes Spurs) could well be on for the Europa, and it would be rather embarrassing for us if we get dumped out of a second European tournament weakly this season and they went on to win it. Full strength side lets try and get through.

This 100%. Roman messed up big time. He under-estimated how much Robbie was loved by the fans. It was not just the CL win, our fans had been waiting 27 years since we had won something of significance, having gone close in 94 only to be stuffed by United. Robbie was one of the biggest factors in us winning the cup in 97, then the further wins in the League Cup and FA cup again he was there again. Then we saw his career end in Switzerland. He is Chelsea, like Zola, Wise, Osgood, Harris, Tambling and all the others I could name. This was worse than what happened to Jose imo, as he was not one of us before he took the job. But that, Claudio, Carlo, Butch, all guys we liked and wanted to see stay longer (yes had Claudio stayed there would have been Jose) have all added up, and then Robbie had his head taken without being allowed to succeed, or fail, on his own merits. I still feel such shame for what happened to Robbie, he deserved so much more. Rafa was done for before he took the job, anyone but Jose would have been. Had Roman dealt with this better it could have been so different. Zola and Poyet have been linked with the managers job, I want them to stay away. They deserve so much better than to work, and then get screwed, at our club... For me this is not about Rafa. I did not and do not want him here but he was never the main problem in my books, that is Roman. Rafa being here is a byproduct of Roman's callous disregard for how the fans feel about, and care for, our club. Roman set Robbie up to fail, signing up Hazard and Oscar but crippling our deeper midfield department and leaving us just Sturridge and Torres up top. He wanted Robbie to fail imo, he did not want him here but bowed to fan pressure, with strings attached, hoping Pep would join later.

Barca Champions League - Us Europa or worse maybe. And to be fair Luiz suits Barca and their style to a T.

Think there is a chance of it, if clubs in the Champions League made their interest know. Barca for Luiz for example, can see the likes of Hazard, Mata and Oscar considering their futures if we are in the Europa again after being put in it this season already.

Just got up to check how the game went, not good as I expected and expect every game these days. Shame for Lamps he did not get the 200th today. So I see our battle becoming with Everton for the Europa League Place. If we lose that we may have to rely on Bradford turning down a spot in Europa to stay in europe....

Away, away and away again eh. Where as United have had home, home and home right? We may not get past Boro anyways but we could be out of both cups in the same week then.

With rafa in charge I find it unlikely when we face even semi-quality opposition in the FA cup and Europa League that we will progress, however I also believe negative results in those competitions will not influence Roman this season in the slightest. Only a poor run in the league and dropping out of the top 4 would do that. Is good to get a win, with luck on our side who knows, we do have a certain romance with the FA cup. Also want to add Oscar again showing why we paid so much to get him in. With having him and Mata in the same side really does offer a lot of hope for the future. Add to that KDB who will hopefully be able to fill the void Frank leaves and Moses who continues to impress and improve. I still believe we have some exciting times ahead and some quality football to watch, just a low eb in that development for now.

Further proof with Torres as the only option we will use up top as soon as we face a decent team we are going out, but the board showed how much they care for the EL when cup-tied Ba was signed, Sturridge sold and we ended up being left with just Torres.
