Watched a few recently, Road to perdition, being going through a few crime/mob films, good film. I had to re-watch The Getaway, as a big McQueen fan, also saw a couple of old Sean Connery movies, Marnie and Darby O'Gil, enjoyed both.

Went to see the NWA movie, Straight Outta Compton, and quite enjoyed it. Their story is a very compelling one, and although I already knew bits and pieces of it it was still interesting to have all the dots joined. One criticism I would make is that Dr Dre and (to a lesser extent) Ice Cube are portrayed as being almost perfect, infallible beings, and by coincidence they also produced the movie. I tend not to read autobiographies for the same reason.

I was wondering how they portray theirselves and that's a bit disappointing to be honest, I'll still probably go and see it but if you know anything about NWA then err... It's not pretty.

I wouldn't let that put you off. Eazy-E is the star of the show, it's just a shame he wasn't around to give his input into the movie.

I was surprised to hear there's a lot of wardrobe/prop inaccuracies in the movie. How hard is it to make a "period piece" about stuff from the '80s (and early '90s), especially when you've got so much archive footage from those days about the group...

There is? I thought they recreated the period very well on the whole. To be honest, if there were prop/wardrobe inaccuracies then it's not the sort of thing I'd notice/care about.

John Wicks decent revenge movie stating Keanu Reeves. Decent action movie if you're a fan of Taken style films.

Southpaw, boxing movie staring the brilliant Jake Gylenhall (or however you spell it. He's probably one of the best actors around right now was excellent in this playing a very different role to what he did in Nightcrawler.

I heard there are things like people wearing certain clothing (t-shirts and caps, I think) that weren't being made yet when the movie takes place. The most ridiculous is the one I heard about Los Angeles Raiders cap(s) which had the wrong font. You'd think they'd be able to get real Raiders caps pretty easily or at least get the font right.

Southpaw was ok, not a patch on Rocky or Raging bull though which are the benchmark.

Straight Outta Compton was fantastic IMO, superb casting and of course incredible soundtrack.

The book itself has a big change of pacing around half way through when a twist is revealed which is probably why the film feels that way. 

Straight outta Compton a few days ago very enjoyable film. Although a lot of nudity for a 15 I wasn't complaining though. But just a heads up for those who plan to. Just watched Friday as well classic comedy. Now to finish the night some 2 fast 2 furious.

I saw it much longer ago than that!!  I was just thinking of buying it on DVD so I may go for the Director's cut version - unless it is hugely more expensive!!
