Last Movie You Watched

Just been to see Jason Bourne. I love this series and I did enjoy the film but it was pretty much a repeat of the first three films with Matt Damon in, there's no originality in it. I also didn't think that Tommy Lee Jones played a good 'baddy' but Brian Cox nailed that in the Bourne Supremacy.

In spite of all that, it's still much better than the Bourne Legacy disaster (the one with Jeremy Renner in).

I've also got a bit of a soft spot for Alicia Vikander so that's always a bonus.  :blush2:

Watched the BFG, really enjoyed it, even if they did make it a bit long and the giants weren't scary enough.

Watched the new Star Trek and thought it was boring and filled to the brim with plot holes (why did he have a massive army of aliens?)

Suicide Squad. No where near as bad as the critics made it out to be, it was a bit of fun albeit a bit unorganised. Potential spoilerish comment so to avoid any accusations of the sort:

I thought Cara Delevingne was a bit rubbish considering the amount of screen time she had and I didn't realise she was as pitivol as she was to the storyline. We're usually cast as the bad guys in American movies because to our accent but they didn't utilise that at all.

Slightly better than BvS (and although I can't remember how I rated that...) - 5.5/10.

After watching London has Fallen the other week (and being horrified at how bad it was) I decided I may as well watch the prequel (Olympus has fallen).

Was ten times better, really enjoyed it!

Suicide Squad, really enjoyed it. Do not get the reviews saying its a mess, it was a very coherent story. I do think the film was not without problems though and us the weakest of the three DCEU Movies so far.

For me the best parts of the film were Superman's importance at the forefront, Batman/Bruce Wayne cameo scenes, the Flash cameo, Harley Quonn, Deadshot, Captain Boonerang, El Diablo's character arc, 'The Wall' Amanda Waller and lastly Jared Leto's Joker. Which was yet another brilliant take on the character and again very different to Jack Nicholson's and Heath Ledgers equaly brilliant portrayals.

Now for dislikes, the whole villain aspect, I really didn't care for all the magic stuff in all honesty and Enchantress plus her brother just weren't interesting threats at all IMO. I'd also say the film could have used about 10-20 more minutes adding. It's great the film flew by but it felt short, like something was missing (which we know there was).

All in all I'd give it a solid 7/10.

I could write you an essay on what I didn't like about Suicide Squad but glad you enjoyed it Bobby.

I can totally understand someone not liking it, the story was pretty much nonexistent and the whole magic aspect was awful. But I think the film really excelled with its characters so as a comic book fan I was happy with that. I'm glad I did too tbh, admittedly had I gone in with the expectations I had six months ago I would have been disapointed but I think with what the reviews had said plus the mixed response from the general audience my expectations were lower.

This analysis of Suicide Squad has reaffirmed my position that it's a movie I never want to see.

You have to make your own mind up for a film though. End of the day she's doing a review like that to gain hits cause critically the the critics are trying to one up one another by saying as bad a things as they can about the film. It's fine to dislike a film but the critics are unprofessional these days.

I never will listen to reviews for anything, I always make my own mind up. End of the day films that I love (like the Friday the 13th series for example) are often slated yet I still enjoy them.

Suicide Squad, no spoilers:

A bit sh*te and plodding. What's the point of having Jared Leto as the Joker and only be in it for 10 mins?

Will Smith was the heart of the film, you could see why they cast him as Deadshot. Robbie was excellent as Harley Quinn.

The main villain was total sh*te, just a mess of CGI who just stood there. Too much time was spent watching the Suicide  Squad cautiously plod through the streets not doing much except exchanging wise-cracks.

And what was the point of having Captain Boomerang in it? Pointless character.

Batman V Superman (especially the extended edition) is far superior.

5/10

Saw Suicide Squad this weekend. Really wasn't expecting much at all from the reviews but was pleasantly surprised. Joker was never meant to be one of the main characters and i believe this film was more just a way of showing people what he's like. Though Leto portrayed him in a unique way and looking forward to seeing more of him in the future. I thought the casting for the squad was great overall, especially Will Smith and Margot Robbie. Both absolutely fantastic. A few other characters were unneeded and felt like they were just put there just because they could, such as Katana.

Overall: 7/10

Fair enough to your opinion but how on earth can you find it worse than BvS?!

A film that only had 8 minutes of BvS until they made friends after finding out their mothers had the same name..

No film will ever be able to disappoint me like that did.

yes the martha thing is very dumb and underwhelming but bvs has an actual interesting plot and an actual character and story development like a movie should be

suicide squad literally has no plot (seriously what's the point of the movie?), amateur home video level editing (it's so bad you can see the frame awkwardly cuts to the other) the very strange structure of the movie, cara delevigne wiggling acting, god awful silly ending

it started out good, but then when the "mission" part of the movie start it felt like this montage of action sequence in this claustrophobic set of a dark city with some awkwardly inserted random music "to lighten the mood" and random flashbacks happening to explain the character here and there

and the idea of the story itself after the end credit scene turn out to be dumb

turns out weller knows about the justice league guys and also bruce's batman identity, well why didn't she try to get them together in the first place? instead she went to the trouble of assembling these group of superhuman criminals led by a very powerful evil witch, ba dum tss

I'm sorry and I'm not trying to have a go but people who didn't get the Martha thing need to watch it properly. It's not simply that there mothers have the same name, it's that in that moment Batman realises Superman is human and that he is becoming exactly the thing he hunts, criminals.

I don't know how to do Spoiler tags but Waller knows all that in the comics too. She doesn't trust the JL because she can't control them. She can control the squad though.
