May 30, 201610 yr The Brothers Grimsby. Funny in parts and very in others 7.5 the trailer looks awful but it's better than i expected, definitely better than the dictator
May 30, 201610 yr Friday the 13th (1980), one of my favourite films of all time, must watching it 2 or 3 times a year
June 1, 201610 yr X-Men: Apocalypse. Meh, the last half hour or so saved it. 6/10. Bobby - Friday the 13th is the greatest slasher film IMO, I never saw that twist coming.
June 1, 201610 yr Halloween is my personal favourite slasher. I only really enjoyed Friday the 13th when Jason became a factor.
June 1, 201610 yr Halloween is my personal favourite slasher.Good shout, I also like TCM... maybe a bit quick with my favourite slasher film.
June 1, 201610 yr Good shout, I also like TCM... maybe a bit quick with my favourite slasher film. Love TCM (original) I would have loved to have been a movie goer back in those days. I love old school horror, I'm not a fan of most of what Hollywood churns out these days. Freddie, Jason, Myers, Leatherface...those were the days!
June 1, 201610 yr X-Men: Apocalypse. Meh, the last half hour or so saved it. 6/10. Bobby - Friday the 13th is the greatest slasher film IMO, I never saw that twist coming. I keep hearing bad things about the new X-Men It's a weird twist cause there's no hint at who it may be throughout the film at all. When it's this seemingly sweet older lady though it is a shock. I think for people who knew of Betsy Palmer it was a shock cause it was her though. Unfortunate for me I've never seen it not knowing she's the killer. Would love to have seen it not knowing but when I first saw it as a kid I'd already seen several of the later films. Halloween is my personal favourite slasher. I only really enjoyed Friday the 13th when Jason became a factor. Halloween is mine to think it's the perfect horror movie. F13th is my fave slasher series though.

June 1, 201610 yr I read not long ago she only took the role because she needed a new car! Yeah that's true, the wage she got was exactly what the car cost aswell.
June 5, 201610 yr Batman v superman...dragged on a bit 6.8/10 13 hours...the battle of Benghazi....not bad....7.5/10
June 6, 201610 yr Spy I have to admit I'm really not a fan of Melissa McCarthy but I thought this film was piss funny. Jason Statham totally stole the film though. 8/10
June 6, 201610 yr X-Men Apocalypse Not nearly as bad as the reviews would indicate but it's definitely the weakest of the trilogy. Out of nowhere Storm, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Angel and Jean Gray are introduced and shoehorned into a plot that's been building for two previous films and I felt like we didn't spend enough time any one character... It feels clustered even with a 2.5 hour running time. After the clever plot of Days of Future Past the plot to Apocalypse fells generic which is a shame but there's enough moments in there for comic book movie fans to enjoy.

I enjoyed the film greatly but there were too many story arcs going on. I felt the Quicksilver/Magneto storyline was unneeded and could have been saved for another film and been more exciting. Also, pointless cameos with the likes of Wolverine etc. However, i did like the youthfulness of the new cast.

June 6, 201610 yr Agree with both of these. That said I can kinda understand the latter considering there will be another film and it explains where he has been for the interim period. Very true. To be honest i enjoyed the film. Thought Civil War was better but i'll always love an X-men movie.
June 7, 201610 yr I enjoyed it too for the action scenes, but the plot lines were a mess with seemingly no thought given to how to link the stories, just basically "oh and he went to the school, and met them and they were all then besties for ever "....
June 7, 201610 yr Saw Jungle Book last week and really enjoyed it. Not overly sentimental but still had some Disney-esque animals in. Visually very good and thought the ending was better than the cartoon version. Off to see Love and Friendship tomorrow which looks good fun - nice to see a few entertaining films rather than powerful ones.

June 7, 201610 yr Not seen this, how does the ending differ? Put it in a spoiler in case anyone doesn't want to know. Not hugely different, just that he doesn't see a girl and fall for her and ends up at the man village. I always thought this was a bit wet! Instead he stays in the jungle with the animals.
June 7, 201610 yr X-Men: Apocalypse Bewildered as to why the reviews are so bad. It's a solid X-Men romp (with another brilliant Quicksilver sequence in it!) which isn't as good as it's predecessor or First Class, but much better than I and III. Sophie Turner from GOT is a good Jean Grey, despite a bit of a dodgy American accent. And THAT moment when they stumble across ********** in the underground complex is brilliant! That scene with Fassbender in the forest with all the birds was heartbreaking. I really feel for Magneto. His life is just sh*t! I enjoyed it more than Civil War I think, mainly because Fox are brave enough to kill people off, whereas in Marvel films everything is just fine and dandy all the time. They need to be riskier. 7/10
June 20, 201610 yr Went to see Tale of Tales last week. A strange film from Matteo Garrone (Gomorrah), based on old Italian fairy tales but definitely not one for the kids. Great cast (including Toby Jones, Salma Hayek, John C Reilly, and Vincent Cassel), quite funny at times and visually very impressive. I enjoyed it but was feeling a bit restless towards the end.
June 20, 201610 yr Saw Demolition last week. Quite an odd film in that I didn't think it was very believable yet I did enjoy it. Quite a short film by today's standards which helped keep the plot tight.
