Last Movie You Watched

Featured Replies

Watched a film the other day called Open Water, about a couple who go scuba diving and their boat accidentally leaves them behind. Very well done.

I saw that at the cinema and you could hear a pin drop, clearly everyone's secret worst fear...! It's based on a true story too which makes it that bit more uneasy.

First bad review I've heard Gem. Interesting.

I've read only one review (before this one) and it was very negative. Basically the reviewer said it looked good, but lacked heart (or something along those lines).

I'm usually against re-makes because often they are pointless and inferior to the original, but I think this movie begs to be re-made with 360 degree camera technology, so you could watch the movie on a VR headset and be "floating in the sea" with the movie characters. And if you really wanted to take it to the next level, you could sit in a jacuzzi while you watch it. :happy001:

Bill and Ted 2 haha, childhood movies. Not watching many fresh movies, actually just watching every Chelsea season review in my collection again, starting from 1988, thankfully all in good condition. Just finished the 97/98 season, one of my favourite Chelsea seasons, some great moments, Vialla v.s Tromso, thrashing spuds, thrashing Liverpool, two penalty shootout wins, coming from behind to knock Arsenal out the league cup, scoring world class goals. Not to mention the comeback against Vicenza, sort of like an early version of Napoli 2012, Hughes with a world class finish sparks people to run on the pitch, oh and the Cup winners cup final win, Zola scoring after being on the field for ten seconds, love that season.

Saw the Jungle book yesterday after a huge feed in Sugar Rays - great film, loved it :)

Also thought the voices were all superb, even Shere Khan, but I liked Luther..... so was easy to see the anger from Idris Elba!

Went to see this one:

One of the weakest movies I've seen from the Coens. It's not as bad as The Ladykillers, though. That one is in "a class" of its own. There were some funny moments, but it was quite uneven and the characters weren't very interesting. I would've thought John Goodman would've been perfect for this movie and yet he's nowhere to be seen. I had heard that it wasn't one of their better ones, so I didn't have great expectations, but it was still a bit of a disappointment.

Went to see Eddie the Eagle tonight with the delicious Hugh Jackman (well I wish I was with Hugh Jackman but the film had him in it).  The film was pure entertainment, enjoyable - a real change from the recent "serious" films we've seen recently.  And Hugh Jackman is very easy on the eye.  It won't win awards but for sheer good fun it's worth a look, especially if you were around in the 80s.  Did I say how gorgeous Hugh Jackman was in it?  He just oozes SA.

By the way, Hugh Jackman is in it.

Ant-Man.

It was ok. Only watched it because I know he is in the new Captain America film. The VFX were very good and Paul Rudd is very likeable.

But I just find the whole summoning ants thing very naff.

6/10

Captain America: Civil War.

8.5/10. I really enjoyed it, thought all the action scenes were fantastic which in a super hero movie is pretty important. Chris Evans is also very handsome, I mean ridiculously so.

I didn't really enjoy the Ironman/Spider-Man subplot, thought it was a bit boring. I understand the two main reasons it was - the fact they team up in the actual Civil War comic book and its introduces the new Spider-Man now Marvel has it back but meh... I want Captain America, Iron Man has his three films thank you.

Eye in the Sky tonight.  Really good, thought-provoking, tense, powerful film.  Highlights the difficult decisions to be made when dealing with terrorists and shows that there are no clear cut right or wrong answers.  Subtle story line, not over-egged at all.  Worth seeing.

Black Mass - watched 40 minutes of it and turned it off, really boring. Felt like I had seen this plot a thousand times over.

I would have watched more probably, but OH was just not into it at all.

Only good thing about it was Depp's performance.

The film itself was pretty boring.

Really enjoyed Civil War, makes me look forward to the new Spiderman. They actually made him an awkward wisecracking kid this time like he should be.

Only weakness what that the final act dragged the film on too long. They needed to conclude the story but they'd already had their big climactic action sequence, following it up with a lesser one didn't work.

10 Cloverfield Lane.

Was really surprised, it's MUCH better than I thought it would be. John Goodman is excellent in this film, the best he's been in years.

Also watched a film called 'Hush' about a deaf writer who is basically terrorised by a stranger in her isolated house in the middle of nowhere. A bit like the Strangers but not as good.

I finally got around to watching The Hateful Eight and really enjoyed it. The dialogue was a bit hammy at times but on the whole it was a lot of fun. Not one of QT's best but still preferable to any of those conveyor-belt superhero films.

A trailer for the remake of Whisky Galore. Not sure if I'll go and see it. Suspect I will though to compare it to the original. The original is brilliant and one of the funniest films I've ever watched.

Ah it will be worth it Boyne! You might enjoy it more than you think.

If nothing else you can bring in a little hip flask and have a nip or two whilst reminiscing

Very true, Zola. Think I will go and see it. Think it's due for release in June. Will take a hip flask with me to get into the spirit of the film.
