May 14, 201610 yr "Room" Drama with a Thriller sprinkling.... plot is around a mother who raises a young boy in a garden shed. Cant say much more than that. Gripping! 8/10 I saw that last night. Excellent film. I liked the way it didn't focus on the crime element of it but more the emotional side of it.
May 14, 201610 yr Agreed mate! The most action / thriller scene had my heart absolutely racing...not many films can do that for me these days
May 15, 201610 yr Watched captain America civil war last night, really enjoyed it. Thought it was gonna be like the crap star wars prequels with all the politics crap at the start but they did it really well thankfully
May 15, 201610 yr Civil War. Fights scenes were great but I thought the plot was pants. Nothing changed over the course of two and a half hours, they bickered about signing an agreement and whether Bucky was a bad guy or not but ultimately nothing was resolved and the universe's story didn't progress... Disappointed personally considering how good Winter Soldier was.
May 17, 201610 yr Lawrence of Arabia. A great film with a great cast. A few years since I've watched it. First saw it about when I was a kid and was taken by my Dad to see it at the local cinema. I've read that it's Spielberg's favourite film and he watches it before he starts work on a new film. As for Lawrence, I think it's fair to say he was a bit of a maverick and the jury is still out on him but his book the Seven Pillars of Wisdom is still a point of reference for Military Campaigners who have fought and fight in the far east. By coincidence, today is the centenary of the Sykes-Picot agreement when much of the Middle-East was divided between Britain and France. The division is probably one of the reasons for tensions in the Middle-East in recent times. What would Lawrence think?
May 18, 201610 yr Inside Out. Reduced me to tears on three occasions. A wonderful, clever film, one of Pixar's finest. 9/10.
May 18, 201610 yr Inside Out. Reduced me to tears on three occasions. A wonderful, clever film, one of Pixar's finest. 9/10. I really enjoyed it. When he had to leave behind the fella when rocketing out that hole made me shed a tear lol. Still below "UP" for me which had the same effect on me as this did for you (many tears).
May 19, 201610 yr xmen apocalypse not as bad as what the critics suggest but it was pretty meh, lots of merky dialogues and plot issues, kinda dissapointed they didn't play with the backdrop era like in first class with the cuban missile crisis and the vietnam war in days of future past, just the usual superhero vs evil villain plot but the new guys was great, and once again another amazing quicksilver scene 7.3/10 i'm not sure about the "mellowed" version of magneto on this timeline, even after what happened to his wife and daughter, and the sudden back to being bff with charles, felt like all the tension between them that has been built since the last 2 movies just vanished
May 20, 201610 yr Inside Out. Reduced me to tears on three occasions. A wonderful, clever film, one of Pixar's finest. 9/10. I'm possibly a bit of a misery guts but I'm starting to get a bit numb to Pixar's "3 minutes to make you cry" sequences, they're feeling a bit forced now that you're expecting them to come and you can see them coming. Also doesn't help that with Inside Out, what I wanted to see was a film consisting of the emotions dealing with daily life and instead it was closer to a buddy road-trip movie. It's a bit like with Up where I wanted to see a story about an old man flying around in his house and instead half the film was set in a jungle with talking dogs. I actually think Disney Animation has moved ahead of Pixar now, Zootopia was brilliant, far better than I though a film with such an over-used setup could be. I half suspect that Lasseter's taken more of an active interest in Disney Animation which is why they've produced such good films for the past few years.
May 20, 201610 yr It's a bit like with Up where I wanted to see a story about an old man flying around in his house and instead half the film was set in a jungle with talking dogs. You say that like it's a bad thing? Up is easily one of the greatest family films of all time.
May 20, 201610 yr Eddie the Eagle as it goes i thought it was a good watch. The lad who plays him is brilliant.
May 21, 201610 yr The Perks of Being a Wallflower, a coming-of-age drama that I found rather moving and actually better than I expected.
May 21, 201610 yr Eddie the Eagle as it goes i thought it was a good watch. The lad who plays him is brilliant. He's the guy from Kingsman isn't he? That's a good film
May 26, 201610 yr Prince Avalanche Very much enjoyed this. It's a fairly gentle comedy/drama about a couple of road workers who are employed to repaint the lines down the centre of a remote country road after the area has been destroyed by forest fires. It's quite reflective but very humourous and silly at times too. The soundtrack is great (composed by Explosions In The Sky) and fits the setting and mood of the film perfectly. There are only four actors in the whole film, one of whom is a local lady who really lost everything in the fire, and after telling her story to the crew they decided to give her a small role. Her scene is probably the best in the film, very touching.

May 27, 201610 yr Ant Man is great, one of Marvel's best IMOI loved it. Didn't take itself seriously at all.
May 27, 201610 yr Legend. Tom Hardy plays both of the infamous Kray twins, gangsters in London's east end during the 1950s/1960s. Hardy puts in a monumental performance as he plays two very different brothers, Ronnie and Reggie. Ronnie is a homosexual and psychotic. Reggie is more of a ladies man and smooth mover. Hardy is so good in fact, that you forget it's one person playing these two very different men. It's a good thing Hardy knocks it out of the park, because the film itself isn't that interesting. There are some amusing moments (a punch-up between the brothers early on is almost played for laughs) scattered throughout the film, but it's not coherent and tails off towards the end. Still worth seeing for Hardy alone, though. 6.5/10
May 29, 201610 yr I just watched the single worst film I've ever seen, it was called Creep. Found footage horror (which I can't stand anyway), awful awful film. 0/10
