I don't hate them. They've got money to spend, so they do just that. They need to start winning things soon, or else the money has been poorly spent. The absolute minimum target for them this season has to be a top four finish in the league.

I've always had a soft spot for Man City, so I don't begrudge them their current situation one bit.

I guess I've always viewed Man City as our Northern equivilent, and I for one hope they do well and would certainly rather see them finish higher in the league than Utd, the dippers, Sp*rs and Arsenal.

i don't hate them either. but there are differences. well despite the obvious, which is a simple matter of scale; Roman's billions are a drop in the ocean compared with the funds available to Man City, who have literally come from nowhere, or at best mid-table mediocrity.

Chelsea on the other hand, were a team on the up when Roman bought the club, having recently won domestic and European trophies, regularly qualifying for the Champions League. the Chelsea revolution began with Hoddle, and was continued by Gullit, Vialli and Ranieri, who if he hadn't had that brainstorm against Monaco would have taken us to our first Champions League final, for which we would justifiably have been favourites to lift the trophy.

I don't hate City in the slightest and nothing they have done since coming into money bothers me in the slightest. it may be more money than we spent when Roman first took over but it is exactly the same concept

No hate just a fascination how they are going to name a squad of up to 25 players with eight of the 25 places reserved exclusively for Home Grown Players.

(A home grown player is defined as one who, irrespective of his nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to the Football Association or the Welsh Football Association for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons or 36 months prior to his 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which he turns 21.

In keeping with UEFA guidelines, an Under 21 player is defined as one who is under the age of 21 on 1st January in the year in which the season commences. For the 2010/11 campaign Under 21 players will have been born on or after 1st January 1989.

The 25-man squads must be submitted to the Premier League by 5pm on the day following the close of each transfer window. For the 2010/11 season the first window will close at 6pm on 31st August and final squads must be registered by 5pm on 1st September.)

Dont hate them, always had a soft spot for them as I have a few mates who are big fans. In fact one is still saying hes waiting to see how they manage to f**k this up in the usual City way :D

Massive differences between them and us. As pointe dout we were champions leaugue when bought or Roman would not have given us a second look JT and Lamps were already at the club and arguable our most valueable players under Roman.

I dont hate them but thay are beggining to annoy me.

However I will say they have not really assembled a good a team as made out, they have a huge squad but they couldnt get the likes of Kaka and JT and I doubt Torres. It is all about Champions League vs money.

Posted

Don't hate them either, but during last season I started to enjoy them dropping points. Apparently the lesson that a team of Big Names doesn't guarantee success has been lost on them so far.

Posted

Only thing that has made me dislike them was the whole JT/Bridge saga. But that really is only because of worms like Tevez and Bellamy. That and they then had the hide to beat us.

I've never hated City, even when fighting their fans in the Kippaxe and the dark back streets surrounding Maine Road. I've had a soft spot for them since the late 60's, in the days of Bell, Summerbee, Lee, Doyle, Pardoe & Coleman - I'm not really sure why, but it was probably because they were always overshadowed by the scum at OT just like we were by the y*ds & the Arse. Their away kit of red and black striped shirts and black shorts helped too, they looked really cool the first time I saw them wear that strip, think it was 68/69 (well, I was only about 11 or 12) :D

Nowadays I think it would be extremely hypocritical for a Chelsea fan to slag City off for spending loads of money, I hope they get the success their fans deserve after all these years.

Having said that, I've got to admit that I hate Bellamy (for obvious reasons), and Tevez for his pathetic role in the "Team Bridge" drama. And I think they were bloody stupid to get rid of Mark Hughes, but other than that...

I think they were more stupid to get rid of Sven than Hughes but then again I am probably in a very small minority there!

My only gripe with Man City is how they obtained Eastlands wish the UK tax payers and council built us a brand new ground on Earls Court ................other than that good luck to them . Rather them in the top 4 than Liverpool ................

I don't hate them...but I think the way they treat the players who got them where they are with disdain and replace just about all of them in the team.

But...in the end, they'll have to sell those players, cheap...or else have them doing nothing all season...and that benefits all the teams who pick themselves up a bargain.

I'd be tempted to go for someone like Richards or Onuoha if they're being offered around at bargain basement prices...help with the home grown quota and are young enough to help shore up the future of the team.

Their spending doesn't make me hate them (the better Mancs fans are funny to watch), but at times I'm feeling uneasy at just how much spending power they have, and how they may convert that to playing power (which like it or not...would be disastrous for our hopes of winning titles).

Got to agree with this. Look at the job he did at Lazio when he had money to burn. If he can find the next Nesta, Nedved and Inzaghi then they'd be in business.

I only hate Man City for any way in which they obstruct Chelsea, which they did last season by cheating to beat us twice. They were the better side on both days, but some of the refereeing decisions given that day completely changed the game. If they carry on being mediocre and taking points off Man Utd and the like, I'd be very happy to have them around in the Premiership's top echelons.

Dont hate them - they emphasise how well we did in the JM years and prove that it takes more than just money to win anything ie you cant buy titles

Love it when they drop points though and dont mind if they knock l'arse out of the top 4 especially if they do the double over red nose on the way

There are some situations that are difficult to accept, such as Joe Cole playing for Pool, Spurs succeeding in Europe, or Man City winning the League.

However, I bear no grudge against City. They are a most inconsistent squad and will be so for the next season or two.

Mancini is not the man for the job.

Robinho, what a joke! Signed for a club at the last minute and didn't have a clue who he signed for. Enough said!

Just looking over City's roster they have so many players right now it's almost ridiculous. I'm all for depth but they're a little overboard.

4 goalkeepers, 13 defenders, 13 midfielders and 7 attackers. That isn't counting Balotelli and Robhino.

I don't hate them at all in fact I'm delighted they are spending the money they are because it deflects away from the spending we did. Their fans are on the roller coaster ride we started on when Roman came. Whether they can win the league as quickly remains to be seen but they should be a force for sure.

To be fair every club has them. Remember when Roman first took over and we had Chelsea fans saying we should sign Buffon, Zambrotta, Nesta, Totti, Raul and Ronaldinho then go back for seconds.

We really do have an overblown squad now. Thats come with chopping and changing managers so frequently.

However the media have overhyped it a bit and we dont actually need to get rid of a huge number of players. We have a fair few homegrown players under the age of 21.

This shameleslly lifted from another poster but pretty much sums it up.

Joe Hart - HG

Shay Given

Stuart Taylor - HG

Pablo Zabaleta

Jerome Boateng

Vincent Kompany

Kolo Toure

Joleon Lescott - HG

Micah Richards - HG

Aleksandar Kolarov

Javier Garrido

Shaun Wright-Phillips - HG

Adam Johnson - HG

Gareth Barry - HG

James Milner - HG **

Nigel de Jong

Yaya Toure

Stephen Ireland - HG

David Silva

Patrick Vieira

Carlos Tevez

Emmanuel Adebayor

Craig Bellamy - HG

Robinho

Ballotelli

Theres 25 players right there and that includes two prospective signings.

The players culled are, Wayne Bridge, Nedum Onouha, Jo and Roque Santa Cruz. Michael Johnson can be switched in from January for someone like Vieira. Johno is out until October at the very earliest.

We should be fine and dandy I would of thought.

I like some of you are getting a bit fed up with supporters hell bent on glory signings. They scream of plastic supporters to me. Like has been previously mentioned, I am waiting to see how we can f**k this up from here but have to say I have been delighted with our signings so far.

Hate them? No, too far amused and actually a little appreciative.

Its amusing to watch their revolving door philosophy. I mean they are nearly as bad as us in regards to how long thier managers are lasting. However, atleast we were somewhat stable with the squad. They almost have a brand new squad every season (certainly in attack), which wont be helping the stability of the club on or off the pitch. It certainly would be a blast to be a Man City fan when it comes to Football Manager/FIFA games.

However what most people who hate Man City dont realise is that they should almost be grateful to ManCity for the same reasons they hate ManCity. Yes they are buying up more talent than they can even fit in their squad, and yes they are paying ridiculous fees that are driving up the prices of marquee players.....but think, this means that "selling clubs" are making great profits on transfers and are thus able to make their squads more balance and competitive. Also, its mainly the marquee signings that have sky rocketed in value (well, for smart buyers anyways) and a lot of these purchases Man City are making are goinna end up like previous Real Madrid splurge squads where players such as Robben/Sneijder, who were bought at a premium, well be sold at somewhat of a pittance(Sturridge, Dunne, Petrov, Elano). So the buyer club finiances the smaller/seller clubs via outrageous fees which they have to spend to lure the payer and get the club to release, yet a few seasons later and a chunk of those purchases will go fairly cheaply to other clubs.

Also, Man City maybe spending wrecklessly, but they are also the only club currently in the EPL who are making huge singings. Since our league currently seems to be turning into a "sellers league"(not soundsng the panic button yet, but a trend seems to be occuring and these trends do go in cycles if history is to teach us something) with Spain purchasing(luring) a lot of our top end talent recently (Ronaldo, Alonso sold/Fabregas lured) Man City is the only one consistantly bringing top end talent back into the league lately (YaYa, Silva, Boateng, Koralov). They are also winding up as a popular destination for a lot of the top players in the league angling to move from their current club (Tevez, Adebayour, Santa Cruz, Toure, Barry). Who knows where they would of eneded up if not for Man City?

Quite simply put, without Man City and its billions, this league would be without a lot of the talent/star power it currently posseses, even if they are being hoarded at one club. Oh, and by a club that can actually afford to do so without going into mass debt such as Barca/RM and thus keep the money in the leagues clubs and not in their banks interest payments!

I do loz but there is a difference between saying who you should sign and actually honestly thinking you will sign them!

Some city fans I've come across are living in la-la land at the moment. I do, however emphasise 'some'.
