December 18, 20169 yr Alex (ex-Santos, Chelsea and Milan) has retired from football, he couldn't find a new team due to his injuries. 34 years old
December 19, 20169 yr I legitimately can';t remember if Alex was any good in defence or not, all I remember are his freekicks.

Let's just say your mind blocked those memories out for a reason. He had his moments and half the job is putting your body in the way anyway but he was never good enough as a defender
December 20, 20169 yr His free kicks were perhaps the most memorable and hilarious moments in his Chelsea career, but I remember him first and foremost as a very solid defender who played a very important part in a title-winning season, several cup-winning seasons, as well as more than one near-miss Champions' League run. Ultimately he could have become more than he did if it wasn't for his injuries. I was very disappointed to see how AVB treated an excellent club servant. Edited December 20, 20169 yr by PloKoon13
December 20, 20169 yr I thought he was fine around 09-10 when he was rotating in and out the team but season after when Carvalho left he lost it IMO. He did hit some memorable free kicks in his time though.

And that's not just a matter of opinion as the stats back it up as well.
