Mahrez was one of the reasons they won the league. He won Leicester so many points off his own boot. He had a world class season and there is no evidence to suggest he will slow down so referring to his 14/15 season is a pointless exercise.

Neither is there evidence he will have a season like the last one. Point is he's being declared better than players we have based on him having his best season ever while we had the worst, how exactly is that a balanced approach?

The original point was that Mahrez's best is better than anything Willian has ever produced. Not sure how us having "the worst" season contradicts that point. Mahrez best is simply a lot better than Willian's. If you cherry picked Willian's best season and put it next to Mahrez's 15/16 season it would still be extremely one-sided in Mahrez's favour.

 

There is also a lot to suggest that Mahrez will continue his form this season and nothing to suggest he will be a flash in the pan.

Are you referring to when Willian was playing in Ukraine and Russia? Please forgive me for disregarding those powerhouse leagues. Could you enlighten me as to which season it was that was better than Mahrez's 15/16 PL season?

Don't agree with the mahrez sentiment. He's good but not world-class, we have right wingers as good if not better. If he maintains consistency this season then I stand corrected.

Totally surprising for a club like juventus spending that kind of money on anyone let alone on someone who got only 2 years left in his contract, not even world class.. guess pogba to mu is just a matter of time and speaking of that, how on earth his agent can get a fee in a region of 20mils for just brokering the deal?? suddenly becoming a football agent looks more promising than your average footballers eh??

I believe the reason he is entitled to the fee is that when Pogba left united, Raiola negotiated an equivalent of about 20%  of any future sell on fee to go to him, so that's what's in his contract, which wouldn't be that uncommon for super agents like him. The issue is the price Pogba is going for, no one could have predicted that 5 years ago. Or something along those lines, there was an article on it a few days ago, can't find it though

Compared with Mahrez, who for his skill in a better league was in a lower team and didn't win anything.  He didn't catch the eye of any of the big clubs.

Well, that kind of clause is kinda mind boggling because it's huge for just what we consider as commission.. How they let that clause manifested in the 1st place I never know and I still don't understand why some players let their agent having so much say..

^ won't mind buying back Bertrand even if we have to go up to the £25m mark. We will be getting a home grown player, which we are very thin on. Hope we are not getting Lichtensteiner though, it will be shortsighted & we will end up overpaying for a player in his 30s who might not adapt to the pace of the PL.

I don't understand why we not trying to buy Jonas Hector, who is a good attacking left back / winger. Conte can't have missed seeing him when he scored against them and sent them out of Euro 2016 on penalties. Liverpool is trying to buy him now for £22 mil.
