I think we should be all over that, if it's true. Mahrez is class and proven in the league aswell.

Mahrez & Hazard, they'd tear teams apart!

As for CBs, I'd prefer one of Rugani, Romagnoli, Van Djiik or just bring back Christensen.

Lol the football world would have a meltdown if we landed Mahrez.

Linked with German centre back Mustafi according to The Mirror this morning. Good euros and still only 24

Good player.

Does anyone know if he counts as homegrown from his time at Everton? If so, that would be a massive bonus.

What's this winning mentality thing all about, how do you know he has, and Kennedy/Oscar doesn't? It's a ridiculous point to push.

As for replacing Kennedy in the squad, he hasn't shown hes anything other than a bog standard premier league player, I would prefer to keep the younger Kennedy.

I'm much more wary of Mahrez than I was of kante, he had a great season but was still very inconsistent and would be a much bigger gamble.

Because I've watched all three players and I see how Ayew reacts to tough situations and how Kenedy/Oscar does.

Do we even need another striker though?. Lets say we do play 2 up top next season Costa, Batshuayi, Remy and Traore seems fine to me.

If Remy goes then we need an alternative, but what would be the point in getting another player similar to what we have. I would rather we either promoted Solanke or get a different style of forward.

I had no idea Mustafi used to play for Everton!

Ayew is an interesting player; I agree with dkw that he isn't similar to Kenedy or Oscar, in that I see Ayew definitively as a forward whereas I would argue that the former two are primarily midfielders. I think he could work well as part of a centre-forward partnership, although I would ideally want to look elsewhere.

Sure. We can do better. But given we have Oscar or Kenedy playing for the first team, Ayew would be a definite improvement on those players.

There is also one characteristic of Ayew that makes him an instant upgrade: He's a born winner, motivator and leader. Unlike all our players he only improves when the going gets tough.

Am not a big fan of Oscar but i will still take him over Ayew. Ayew is a good player but am not sure he is good enough for any top four team neither do i think he has the quality to improve any team that aims to win the EPL.

Ayew? We still signing players just because they played well against us?

No disrespect to him but we need to be aiming higher.

While reading this, M Salah came into my mind.

We do have a history of signing players who score against us:

Rémy

Costa (admittedly a penalty)

Willian

Salah

Meireles

Torres (repeatedly)

Anelka (admittedly several years before)

Ayew is mince.

We as a club can and will do far better, he's a mid table player if ever I saw one.

Probably why we are looking at him, having finished mid table last season.. :face_palm:   Let's hope we have a decent run at the title this season

I was happy though when all those players eventually joined us except Salah. I have watched Salah many times at Basel and Roma yet I haven't seen anything in him that shows he might be good enough for our bench.
